I think I was merely pointing out that they need to take a page from the Patriots on how to close out games. Going conservative when you have a shitty ass defense simply isn't going to cut it. They did that on multiple occasions.

[QUOTE=CRedskinsRule;966569]What is the rationale for it being a penalty?[/QUOTE
Cmon man,its very rational.If your out of challenges and you throw the flag,theres a penalty.If you call 2 timeouts in a row to ice the kicker,its a penalty{gibbs}
Coaches should know the rules and act accordingly.I think it was Mike Pierra who said the same thing as me during the skins game,should be a penalty but it should still be reviewed

What the hell Aaron Hernandez? The Pats put 7 touchdowns on the Jets and you can't even grab one of them? As if my opponent getting 100 points from 4 players wasn't bad enough.

Tough call, though, to not try to burn some clock to shorten the game. Not going conservative is likely to mean some passing on early downs, and that is probably not the way to go either...

I guess I'm on the side that trusts the Shanahan clan to leverage what we've got to get a win - and you're not convinced (or at least not as convinced as I am) that they're on the right track.

But that's what we do here, discuss our differences and celebrate our team. Hope we get to celebrate a while longer this year.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 12 Style

Didn't see the jets tonight, my week of picks was starting off great, I really thought judging by the last meeting that the Jets could upset the Pats at home since they played them close in NE a few weeks back with Gronk...boy I was wrong..

OK, sure we believe you Smoot, easy to bail on the Jets-Jets-Jets after a debacle like that. For credibility, that comment had to come after a win. They did win one, didn't they?

Or flag him but review the play and than u enforce the flag from the spot or punt. Throwing the flag shouldnt be ignored but it certainly shouldnt nullify a review. Your being punished twice. Dumb.

Re: Around the NFL...Week 12 Style

We're all Packers fans this weekend. A lot easier than rooting for the Eagles when they play the Cowboys, I gotta say.

I don't know, Think about it this way - If a coach throws a challenge, and the play isn't a reviewable play, the ref will come over and talk to him, explain why it isn't and the challenge flag is picked up, no penalty. But if the play is an automatic review (which was put in so that coaches wouldn't be forced to use challenges) the ref can't just come over and say, coach we are reviewing it, and pick up the flag? Very crazy in my mind.
