That could be right, if so then yes he could be GM and HC. Arizona isn't as bad off as they looked, the offense is bad but in a couple seasons Reid could turn that around.

Cleveland is not a mess they have many really good young players, a few more pieces and they are ready to contend. The Jets are a mess.

Browns are better off than Buffalo and SD IMO.

I will agree with that. I said that statement thinking of the Cleveland organization as a whole throughout the years instead of just looking at the team and its potential. Good young defense, good young oline. Weeden to me does not seem comfortable playing in the NFL though, they seem to missing a QB and an offensive playmaker. I take back the earlier statement.

One would assume he'd take that role on as well.

Also, what's the deal with the Chiefs?

Clark Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs CEO, taking on bigger role - ESPN

According to this, Hunt is stepping into the front to be a liaison between the head coach and GM (Pioli). The coach will be reporting directly to him and not to the GM.

Quote:
"The GM and coach won't always have the same perspective," Hunt said. "But they found a way to get to common ground and make decisions, and that will really be my role, finding the right path for the Chiefs and helping the guys make decisions together."
I get a sense that there is a lot of friction between Pioli and the coaches (Crennel/Haley), and that it's come to the point that he's going to be the in between guy now to eliminate the issues. Used the prior relationship between Marty and Peterson to highlight this.

Am I reading more into this than what's there?

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel

The thing that sucks for the Jets, Browns, Cardinals, and Bills is that they need QBs, and theres not many QBs in this draft (no RG3's or Andrew Lucks; Maybe someone that can play close to Russell Wilson, but even thats stretching it), so they all have that same non appeal to many potential head coaches looking to go to those places. So I expect all those teams to still be bottom dwellers in the league. Now if one of those teams gets a healthy Mike Vick or possibly Alex Smith, maybe they can be middle of the pack teams.

Saban is believed to only be interested in a warm weather locale

Kelly has said there is one person he has on mind who would be his GM. No idea who that is though, and it would seem that person would just be a lackey

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel

I think Hunt is trying to force Pioli to resign. Maybe it's a money thing why he won't fire him?

I heard from some pretty reliable people that after Sunday's game Hubt asked Manning why he didn't consider the Chiefs. And Manning supposedly told him he wanted no part of an organization where Pioli was in charge. I don't know why he said that, but that's pretty damning. Manning's rejection is allegedly a big reason the Titans let Mike Reinfeldt go as well

Or something like a pager that vibrates or beeps, so the ref doesn't have to look down. Also, I don't know how something like that doesn't get reviewed. I mean, they review a shot if they believe the shot clock has expired.

Not sure if I had posted this earlier last year, but hearing about this theatrics in this article, I can see why Manning said what he said.

I wouldn't work for the guy either. If people haven't read the article above, I suggest you all do so. Amazing piece and a incredible insight behind the scenes.

Thanks for the scoop Smoot!

Dirk Koetter reportedly staying on as Falcons OC. So cross him off the HC list

Thats interesting. I wonder if thats spite from Manning for Pioli building good NE teams that beat manning a lot.

Speaking of Manning Smoot, I know it was a long time ago (maybe you answered this alread) but how serious was Manning into joining us? I remember hearing from Peter King (or someone in SI) that Manning was out to dinner with Elway and Elway said that the Skins had just traded up to get RG3 and Manning was in complete shock; a reaction almost as if he had really wanted to come here.

To your first point, I think it's more than that. But may have played a part

To your second, I don't know how serious he was. I know he was interested. He has a very close relationship with one of our owners, and Kyle really pushed hard for him.

I mean I consider Manning to be the best QB ever but this couldn't have worked out better for us really.
