Re: Draft wrap-up 2013
I believe Slay was #1 CB in their board but any confirm
I do know they tried to trade down before they drafted Amerson. I don't know if they were hoping to trade down and still get Amerson

Re: Draft wrap-up 2013
Makes sense. I but it was tough sledding trying to trade down. Im happy with Amerson, but I thought as our position approached and certain CB came off the board we would go WR...and maybe Safety

Re: Draft wrap-up 2013
I'm saying 'A'.
We LOADED up our secondary! The players we took could all be starters for us and they were drafted with great value for where they were taken, especially Rambo. All three of them are getting me excited. We could lead the NFL in INTs and Forced Fumbles this year! Aside from that, if Fred Davis is healthy we could have a New Engliand-like 1-2 punch at tight end. We're fine at WR for the short-term so adding a big weapon at TE and much-needed depth at RB was smart. Throw in another LB and that's an awesome draft we just had. We kept talking about "we need a tackle!" all offseason. Think about this fact though, we had the #1 running attack in the NFL and RGIII's biggest hits all came outside of the pocket...so they also protected him well when he stayed at home. If healthy, Pashos is a solid lineman. Trueblood is decent for depth, wouldn't want him as a starter. Also, in the 2012 draft, we took a lot of promising linemen who we haven't seen much of yet in Leribeus, Compton and Gettis. They may step up this year. Our line is solid at 4/5 positions and I think right tackle talent will be sufficient even though not outstanding. The two RBs taken are Darren Sproles-sized, so perhaps Shanahan has an idea for this already-dangerous offense? Morris' power and a small elusive back who can catch on the field together? Bruce and Mike, geniuses again. All of our secondary picks were guys who graded MUCH higher than where they were picked and Reed was graded as the 3rd-best TE in the draft, and we grabbed in in Round 3. Well done again. We have not seen a bad draft from this regime yet.

The announcers brought up that he's perfect for the Option plays. He can either be thrown to for a run or he can even throw the ball himself in the option. It opens up more doors that Davis, Paul, and Paulson can not do. |

Re: Draft wrap-up 2013
Also some where upset we didn't go after a RT. I'm hearing that after the top few OT's most of the players were not players you would throw in and start, in other words they most likely would need some work and maybe a year under their belts.
I guess I'm happy with what we got. I gave a B for their grade. We got what we needed other then OL and WR, but if any of the UDFA's turn out to be something then we should be ok. I know some call them camp fodder but sometimes there are diamonds in the rough and there was a ton of good talent that dropped to later rounds or didn't get drafted. Look at Xavier Nixon for example. He's top talent. They just need to fine tune him a little and he might make a decent RT. |

Re: Draft wrap-up 2013
This was the first year since Shanahan has been here that he didn't draft any OL. I'll take that as a strong sign that he's satisfied with what we've got.

The most ironic part, this converted QB is from the Florida Gators. He's like Tim Tebow who realized he won't be an NFL QB early on and found another way to make it. Speaking of Tim, he's now apparently open to playing TE somewhere.

Or he didn't see one that was worth a pick. Either way I am good with the RT spot and I trust in those that are making the decisions in Ashburn.

Re: Draft wrap-up 2013
i think we got almost EXACTLY who we wanted in this draft and Shanallen is prolly pretty pleased with the list of players we got.. i trust that they followed the plan they had in place and i trust this was a good draft at first look.

He has the size and athletic ability to succeed. Lack of motivation is said to be his problem. Now he has a chance despite whatever happened in his football past. If he seizes the opportunity, I think he can make the team.

You know what would have been funny; if he pulled a Willy Wonka, and started jumping then fell to the ground and started holding his knee like he was in pain, gotten up running and doing more jumping jacks and backflips on stage.
