Yeah was pretty excited pre-surgery about the signing. Healthy Hatch is definitely an upgrade.

Re: All things offseason discussion part II

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on SportsCenter Friday that the Browns have approached Johnny Manziel about "toning it down," with regard to his actions on social media.

Owner Jimmy Haslam was "bothered" by Manziel's recent posting of a "Money Phone" (stack of bills held to the ear) on Instagram. The Browns seem more concerned with Manziel's social media behavior than his well-publicized weekend partying. Approached by the Cleveland Plain Dealer Friday morning, Manziel told the paper "I don't think I'm doing anything wrong," and "I'm not going to change for anybody." Earlier this month, Ben Tate described media coverage of Manziel as "annoying," hinting it may be a distraction in the locker room. ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi stated Friday that he's never seen Manziel-like behavior from a Browns player. Grossi has been covering the Browns for 30 years.

If he succeeds than it will all be ok and or forgotten, and if he fails than it will all be the reason why.
Edit: maybe its all got to do with whether or not he can play ball on the next level and social media has absolutely zero to do with that?

Time will tell as to how Manziel will conduct himself on the field. Right now, he just seems to be acting like a college frat boy.

agreed. i also think manziel is a douche but to play devils advocate:

1. he is only a few months away from being a college frat boy (of epic party douche proportions we will never experience, may take time to change)

2. the browns need something ... anything ..... different form the cycle they have been in since the days of mack running loose. they need to become relevant again.

3. this is exactly what the browns signed up for. PR move (with some upside) to sell tickets and try and ignite some hope in a hopeless franchise and fan base. And its working = we are talking about the browns in the middle of the summer.

agreed.

offseason champs are the 2nd best business model for an NFL franchise .............. next to being the actual Superbowl champs.

finally for the skins thoo, our offseason champ addition of RG3 may turn us into SB champs one day.

Your a paid professional representing a franchise and the shield. His life has changed and needs to recognize it. It only a matter of time

The Browns have no one to blame but themselves. It obviously came down to selling tickets and getting fans excited again. Meanwhile Bridgewater and Carr not only had solid camps but are acting and conducting themselves like professionals.

Hoyer and the coaches are in a no win situation. I can't imagine what it's going to be like once they start losing or Hoyer throws a few picks. The fans, media and owner will be calling for Maziel like no ones business.

Yeah, I've been hearing great things about Teddy's deep ball and overall game lately. Obviously they're still in shorts, but...

And yes, Teddy and Carr haven't made any negative headlines at all so far. Manziel needs to take a lesson from them and the countless veterans around the league who are conducting themselves properly, because I can't see Manziel succeeding if he doesn't mature. Terrance West and Paul Kruger have already said that Manziel has been a distraction to the Browns.

Gotta remember these are men, though. Not gonna pretend that a few headlines about a rookie are going to destine the team for failure.
