Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

sanu really REALLY isn't worth that deal. i think all the RBs got overpaid too. chris ivory has had exactly 1 1,000 yard season (and it was under 1100 yards), yet he's worth 6m+ a year? really?

You're getting solid players, not stars.

Patriots have been going to super bowls with solid players and not stars for years.

Pretty sure Brady and Gronkowski are stars. But more to the point is that the Patriots pay there solid players like solid players not like superstars and the result of that is a better overall supporting cast. Overpaying for solid players leaves you in a place that history shows is unsustainable.

Re: NFL Free Agency 2016

the patriots also have a huge advantage in that their superstar QB is paid well under market (by his choice) which frees up quite a bit of money to improve the team elsewhere.

Lol I was gonna say, that's a hell of a deal for the Bears if that's the case. Bennett has nowhere near the upside of Wilkerson and a 2nd rounder is a solid price to pay for a guy of Wilkerson's caliber.

I guess the Bears finally decided that they need to play defense. They haven't done so since canning Lovie Smith.

Tom who?Tom is the super star and paid like it and Gronk is a star in my book but all the others on you list might have been stars or were stars at other teams when all were with the Patriots they were good solid players .

You have suggested that the players the Giants have signed are solid players and justified the overpayment of said solid players by asserting that the Pats have been going to Super Bowls with solid players.

Implicit in your assertion and essential to its accuracy, however, is that the Pats have been going to Super Bowls with solid players and Tom Brady.

So, your justification for overpaying solid players because the Pats went to several Super Bowls with solid players is a logical truth if and only if Eli Manning is equal to Tom Brady.

Solid Players + Tom Brady = Solid Players + Eli Manning.

(Solid Players + Tom Brady) - Solid Players= (Solid Players + Eli Manning) - Solid Players.

Tom Brady = Eli Manning.

Sorry, it just doesn't add up.

but how many in that list were paid like superstars when first signing with the Pats.

Overpaying for solid players is still overpaying
