PFF: Redskins have the 12th worst roster in the NFL - Hogs Haven

Just saw this and literally laughed out loud.

ACCORDING TO PFF, we had the 27th ranked roster in 2015, finished 9-7 and won the division.

I know some of us on here, including NFL GMs posing as Warpath participants, put more stock into PFF's evaluations than others.

I've been scanning through old posts looking for 30gut's demands to give Gruden a contract extension without any luck.

Please post the link to the old post if ya got it.

I almost choked when I read the article and they were listed at 5. Please tell me this is some kind of a joke. The Eagles are the worst team in the division and are listed as a top 2 or 3 team in the NFC (given 1-4 has to contain at least a couple of AFC teams). I have never been a fan of PFF, but they have lost their damn minds if they consider the Eagles the 5th most talented team in the NFL.

I put stock in common sense. Somehow if we have a harder schedule we're going 3-13. But other good teams get a harder schedule they have no fall off. If you come in 1st place you get a harder schedule, that doesn't mean you suck the next year, unless you're us. We have more talent than we did last year plus a QB who played at a pro bowl type level down the stretch and now it's 100% his team. That's freedom, qbs play better when they're allowed to have a stink game or 2. Tired of the hate. 11-5 this year. My prediction.

Re: How much have we improved player personnel?

Well, we do have the 3rd ranked secondary according to PFF. At least we got that going for us.

Find it hilarious that Dallas ranks 27th, yet felt the need to draft a RB with a premium DB talent on the board.

The only way they can possibly come up with that is if they are failing to properly weight the importance of each position. The Eagles are deep in certain spots - Guard comes to mind, they just went out and shopped in free agency and now their line is pretty deep.

But if the best you can muster is Sam Bradford as your starting QB then how good are you, really?

They have depth in spots but it's negated by weaknesses at key positions like QB, CB and WR. They're poor at all three. And at LT they're relying on an aging Jason Peters who seems to be getting injured more and more often.

PFF so often misses the forest for the trees. They do all these calculations but get so knee deep in their numbers that they forget to perform any common sense gut checks. Clowns.

That's one of those, four years down the road, when the rookie contracts are expiring, where the pick has the potential for being one of those extremes that is referenced forever like Portland passing on MJ to pick Sam Bowie or the Colts going with Manning over Leaf.

Several years ago, Dallas was blasted for picking a center (T. Frederick) who was rated as a second or third rounder. Turns out he has been a pro bowl performer and every day starter since day one. On the other hand, they were praised for trading up and taking the top CB in the 2012 draft (M. Claiborne) and he has just plain busted. If Ezekiel turns into the next AP, well, then "Brilliant." If not, or if Jalen Ramsey is the next Ronnie Lott, well, then "Derp!" ... but that's kind of how the draft works.

Unless Ezekiel really outperforms Ramsey and the Cowboys fix their DB's, I am thinking they will end up regretting this pick.

I really don't hate the Ezekiel pick, with that line he could easily be ROY.

Re: How much have we improved player personnel?

Well, that's kind of the point, Ramsey is sitting there and you are in desperate need of DB help. Sure, you don't have a bell-cow runner ... but do you need one behind that line? If Elliot is really something special maybe you pass up Ramsey - who was considered pretty special as well. But, if he not a once in a decade kind of back, it could really back fire on them.

<crossing fingers for Trent Richardson part deux>

Remember they refused to pay Murray just 2 years ago. Even if Ezekiel is special will they overpay to keep a star running back. I loved that pick by them because even if they get a few good years they passed up a likely long-term solution for a top need of theirs.

Re: How much have we improved player personnel?

Count me among those who don't think Ramsey's going to be all that good. Didn't make enough plays in college, and I question whether he has the hip-flip speed and change of direction necessary to prevent top WRs from separating.

He can run a straight line on deep balls just fine, but how will he handle a bigger stronger receiver coming off the line who can give him a little shake?

I think the Cowboys pick of Elliott will be remembered not because Elliott adds so much value, but because they avoided a bust in Ramsey.

Might be a minority opinion. But I see some Carlos Rogers here.

He's going to be a FS most likely, and not a CB.

Re: How much have we improved player personnel?

EE was a decent pick for the Cowboys...but lets be clear, the Boys really kinda screwed up this offeseason by not taking care of 2 major areas:

1. Effective back up QB for Romo
2. Get pass rusher for a defense that a)struggle to get pressure on the QB and b) could not get turnovers on defense

Cowboys really screwed the pooch...I really cant believe they didn't get a decent back up QB...how many times has this screwed them?

I don't think Jalan Ramsey was the pick....it was Joey Bosa who the Chargers took in front of them. That crushed them

The most talented redskins team we've had since Gibbs 1.0
