Re: Trade Deadline Moves

Dix is a good player. Good value for a 4th IMO ... Plus Mintae hasn't really improved and is still young and can learn from the safties ahead of him. I love his speed and range and ball hawk insticts but nothing wrong with learning more behind vets.

I remember a few years ago the trade deadline would come and go, and no one in the NFL blinked an eye. This year, trades abound. Is it because there is more cap space lingering out there for teams? what's changed?

IDK, but I love it.

I wonder if I'll live to see the day where a team bets another team that they'll finish better by swapping 1st rd picks before the season starts.

Apparently the deadline was pushed back from week 6 to week 8. It looks like 2 extra games was enough for more teams to have an idea how the season is playing out. So, more teams that are falling behind are willing to invest in next year and teams on the cusp are more willing to invest in this year. In our case for example, this trade would make less sense when we were sitting at 3-2. At 5-2 in the lead of the division, however...

Reading up on it and looking at HaHa as an example, teams also are using the compensatory pick system to garner back picks used in the trades. So we gave up next years 4th but we get a quality player and a possible comp pick if we dont resign him. Makes the risk of the trade a lot less as well.

Re: Trade Deadline Moves

I’m disappointed we didn’t address our subpar WR corps. Someone like Garçon for a late round pick could have helped.
