Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Been looking a little harder at Left Tackle if we do lose Trent and it’s actually more available talent there than TE...
Cordy Glenn, Kelvin Beachum, Andrew Whitworth, and DeMar Dotson These are all starters who could perform at a decent level as a replacement for Trent. Penn and Peters still out there as well. If we are looking to add a Free Safety or Corner, good options as well. Karl Joseph, Reshad Jones would be my choices as FS...Desmond Trufant, Eli Apple, Logan Ryan at CB WR and TE really limited options...Sanders, Robbie Anderson and Ebron top players there.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
I think if we were going to chase Newton he'd be here already. Might be waiting until he is released to avoid the cost of a trade, but I suspect in that instance the Bears will come in with an offer and I think he has more chance to start in Chicago than here. Rivera may be close to him but he also knows that if Newton is a mistake at this point, it will set us back 2-3 years and I don't think he'll take that risk.

✔ @JosinaAnderson Regarding Washington as a potential destination for Cam Newton, I'm told the team discussed it, talks did not rise to the level of definitive interest at this time, more of a "wait & see mode" right now observing Newton's market. #Skins also like their young guys too, per source. |

The Athletic is reporting the Skins are in talks with CB Trufant (atl) and S Eric Reid (CAR)

Cornerback Desmond Trufant picked off Winston on his first pass attempt, and the QB smartly started looking elsewhere. While Winston would throw for 313 yards and three touchdowns, Trufant wasn’t the issue, as he mostly held WR Mike Evans in check. Pro Football Focus gave Atlanta’s top corner the highest coverage grade of anyone in the league for Week 12. Trufant received a 91.2 grade, the second-best coverage rating of his career: Desmond Trufant's elite coverage grade yesterday of 91.2 was the highest among all defensive players thus far in week 12. https://thefalconswire.usatoday.com/...s-week-12-nfl/ Trufant played 9 games last year, any lingering injury issue? Lucky Falcons have cap issues, otherwise i dont think he is made available.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
RR knows Cam enough to know Cam is not the answer as starter. Might they kick the tires for Cam as a cheap back up? Sure. But as back up and only if he comes in cheap.
On Haskins, yes he is still a work in progress but they are not going to give up on him. Tua talk at #2 is a joke. More like#5 if then. Tua couldn't stay healthy against college defenses, he will break against NFL defenses. I would not make him my future. |

Cam isn't going anywhere as a cheap backup.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
For everyone thinking the Skins have been sitting on the sidelines, Overthecap's Free Agent spending page gives stark confirmation.
top 5 guaranteed money spenders: Dolphins 109M Titans 91M Cowboys 63M 49ers 62M Giants 57M Lowest: Redskins @ $3.25M That is seriously ridiculous. I am glad we are not in the top 5, but last? The only positive that I can draw is that our FO staff is aware we are not 1 or 2 big splashes away (I know we shot for Amari Cooper). And that RR/KS are going to see what this team really has, not what last season's record with multiple coaches says we have. I would have liked Hooper, or a solid starting TE. That is a place where a proven veteran would make a huge difference in our offense |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020
Word out of SF is he has been a mentor to the other receivers, not to mention being such a good route runner he freed up other receivers quite often. As Sunnyside said, 4 y deal with a y3 out wouldn't kill us and shoukd come at a reasonable price. Maybe a better short term option than Anderson.
Or put it another way, if we pick up a good WR in the draft, we might have the best 5 man core in the league. I suspect Sims and Harmon will only get better especially with a quality vet around. |
