Why do you call him "Clark Kent"?

News on Luck.

Luck still may throw at Scouting Combine | ProFootballTalk

Quote:
The Colts possibly don’t want Luck to throw at the Scouting Combine because they don’t want a poor showing to create the perception that Robert Griffin III may be an equal if not better choice. Or maybe Jim Irsay has up his sleeve a plan to keep Peyton Manning and trade Andrew Luck for a maximum slew of picks and/or players.
I know I know it's PFT but just thought I'd pass it along. I'm still not the type to want to throw away two drafts to get either Luck or RGIII. I had a coworker mention to me yesterday that he heard the Skins were possibly trying to make a trade with NE. Again it's all rumor I have not evidence so I probably shouldn't mention it but am wondering if anyone else heard it. That the Skins were looking to put a package of picks possibly the 2nd round and 3rd round to move up to the NE's late 1st round pick. I presume the idea was to use the 2 first round picks as trade bait to equal out the Browns 2 first round draft picks so we could try and get RGIII.

Again it was a rumor from a coworker. I didn't put much stock in it and he didnt' tell me where he heard it or read it. I'm just asking if anyone else heard the same thing and if anyone knows if there is any merrit in it.

Another interesting write up.

14 of 15 NFL scouts prefer Luck to Griffin III | ProFootballTalk

Quote:
Griffin’s size and college system were held against him. Luck is the safer choice, and scouts often play it a little safer than decision makers like general managers and coaches.
Quote:
That’s probably the biggest knock against Griffin. He doesn’t fit the prototypical quarterback mold, which makes life a little more uncomfortable for the teams that draft him.

With each passing day I believe it's less and less likely the rumor I had heard about going all in for Luck would actually happen.

A lot of people have been guessing the Redskins might move into the bottom of the 1st for a Tannehill/Weeden and the Patriots make sense as a trade partner. I haven't heard anything concrete.

I would love this if it actually happens.

I can get excited about that, but it really doesn't seem like the Patriots MO. Who would the Patriots want? Richardson RB, Claiborne CB, something like that?

What will the Browns do?

Cleveland Browns: Mike Holmgren must stick with Colt McCoy

Quote:
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to use their number one pick on Stanford's Andrew Luck unless they decide to shock the civilized world and go for Griffin III, which given the amount of press received by Griffin III lately--is possible.

Picking second and third are the St. Louis Rams and the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams, with quarterback Sam Bradford would seem to have little interest in picking up a quarterback, however the Vikings may be looking for an upgrade over their quarterback--Christian Ponder.
Funny that the writer is saying what I've been saying for the last 2 1/2 months and I got ridiculed for saying it.

1- Colts could shock everyone and take RGIII.
2- Vikes would be interested in RGIII.
3- Browns would be interested in RGIII.

and to be honest the Rams would be idiots if they didn't look at RGIII to see if he might be better then Bradford. I mean if the Rams are truly in "rebuild" mode then why not start there with your new coaching staff? draft RGIII, keep Bradford, wait until closer to camp or the season and see if you can trade Bradford away for picks and players. If not then you have 2 decent QB's on the roster.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

I don't see why that extra Browns pick is so relevant. The redskins 2nd round pick is only like 15 picks after that 2nd Browns 1st rounder. Plus the Redskins have plenty of picks this year and a full compliment next year to trade up for RG3. They can match any Browns offer in one form or another. Almost every team has the picks it just comes down to how many you are willing to part with.

A good write up on RGIII.

Ok. my understanding was we were trying to move up to get an extra #1 in order to also be able to toss 2 first rounders at the Rams so the Browns wouldn't have a huge leverage over us.

you have also heard that we might trade back to late 1st round possibly with someone like the Patriots? What would we get for trading that far back? their 1st, and 2nd? or more picks?

They'd have to give us both of their first round picks and their second I would guess...

You're basically just quoting another fan's opinion, I wouldn't call him a writer.

Who is ridiculing you? Just because someone disagrees with you?

Anything could happen, but the Rams probably wouldn't take RGIII unless they deal Bradford first, and the Vikes seem unlikely to go QB considering they have 2 young QBs they are already high on.

If the Vikings do land RGIII would Redskins fans be interested in modest trade for Ponder?
