Campbell is obviously better (hence the poor mans Jason Campbell) but I guess that they just remind me of each other. Both in terms of their draft day expectations to fans wanting their team to find a replacement.

I should throw it out there that I'm studying Campbell's last three years extensively with him set to hit free agency, and will probably do the same with Henne before the end of the month. Campbell shows clear tendencies based on coverage looks that I'm sure coordinators have picked up on, but as long as he can use his legs effectively, Campbell is difficult to stop/scheme against.

The funny thing about Jason Campbell is that he's getting to that point of his career where he's nicked and bruised week to week and isn't the athlete he once was, and he's reaching that point simultaneously with maturation in the pocket in terms of ball security and getting the ball out in timing and rhythm. The funny thing is: this trade off will keep him as a middle of the pack QB overall, although the "film guys" like Cosell are sure to remark that he is an "improved" player, whatever that means.

Henne has had the same down to down inconsistent shown by all young QBs, and as long as he keeps getting reps and keeps improving, I'm not sure we should hold his early career negative plays against him. After all, Campbell (who I believe was a really good fit for Zorn's offense) threw blind a number of times on tape during the 2009 season when he was fooled by the coverage. He hardly ever did that with Oakland.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

And with regards to Henne, if you isolate his passing away from his running, you get a completely different story.

Passing DYAR divided by games started for "successful" QB draft picks (2005-2011)

1. Aaron Rodgers 95.35
2. Matt Ryan 75.55
3. Joe Flacco 42.73
4. Chad Henne 41.03
5. Matthew Stafford 36.24
6. Jay Cutler 33.50
7. Jason Campbell 30.53
8. Kyle Orton 22.91
9. Josh Freeman 21.12
10. Ryan Fitzpatrick 8.87

He had the advantage of sitting his first season, so subjectively, you might want to switch him and Stafford, but he's still one of the best QBs (by passing) picked in the last seven drafts.

Newton was 38.69 by the same metric this year, for context, and he gets no value for his rushing contributions.

Hene/Orton would be a nice insurance policy wither we try and trade up for RG3 or try and trade down for Taneihill. It's not assured that either will be there, at the same time not handcuffing us to make a deal so we over pay.

I was surprised to read that RGIII isnt going to throw at the combine, he's only going to run. IMO that's not a good sign.

They can't trade him until the 13th. Anything negotiated prior to that is tampering and also teams can't franchise a player with the idea of trading him. So, if I'm a team wanting Flynn, I refuse to give them anything and then report them to the league for the violation.

Why is that not a good sign?

Luck isn't throwing either.

They have nothing to gain.

To me Henne has a hell of a lot more upside than Orton. Last time I saw Henne he was carving up New England's defense for over 400 yards. I know NE has a poor defense but still, the guy has talent. Orton? Below average talent.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

Problem is everyone carved up NE last year. Look what Henne did in the remainder of his starts last year. Very underwhelming.
