Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I guess No-one remember us completely ripping off the the Rams 3 years ago in the Carriker trade. It might not be that sexy but we got a first round talent and a starter for 14 spots in the 5th round. And it really looks like we were on the right side of the Blaine Gabbert move back trade last year where we got some guy named kerrigan ( I think he is going to be pretty good) and another draft pick. I will admit that these trades have been few and far between in the last ten years or so but that was the old regime this one has a track record albeit small but a track record all the same of making great trades and hopefully this will turn into the best one yet.
I love this move and think it absolutely had to happen.
Yeah but none of the trading we've done has translated to wins. |

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
The price was high, but I don't have a big problem with it. The market sets the price and there were other teams that would have ended up stepping up and paying the same thing, or something very close to it.
If you believe he's a rare talent that can elevate the franchise for the next decade, my thought on it all offseason has been go big or go home. I think the time was right to make this move. We have the cap room now to surround him with established talent, and Allen is crafty at wheeling and dealing in the draft to acquire more picks. RGIII will put butts in the seats, create buzz on and off the field, and he gives us a legit potential superstar QB for the first time in forever.
This. Couldn't agree more! |

I'm glad we made this move before Griffin has his proday and wows the media once again. The trading partners could've went up after his pro day.

Maybe if he is amazing enough at his proday we can trade the pick to the browns for their two first rounders this year and their 1st rounders in 13 and 14. j/k, I am excited about RGIII. |

Nice to know that the Browns were willing to do about the same deal. I'd like to think we offered just a tad bit more to get it done. If giving up a 2nd this year can be called a tad. Still good to know we didn't offer much more more than the Browns. That article actually makes me feel better. Thanks |

so they are done with the colt mccoy project? i thought he could stick it out with them for a year, they had a better qb situation than us, more up side at least. sure dosen't sound like clevland wants anything to do with him. |

So basically the other QB's in this draft have no chance at being successful starters? Not buying it. |

And why did you want Clausen here? LOL... I hope he does well to shut up some of the whiny fans up. You wanted RG III, and we have him (or luck). You didn't want Grossman Back or manning or beck or weeden. Make up your minds folks. George, Ramsey, Ferotte, Shuler etc. Ring a bell? I would actually have liked for them to not RG III, and gotten cousin/tanneyhill. Or Manning and for it not to work. I would really like to see your reaction them. The skins made a bold move. We just to wait to see how it plays out. |

Still, I could see Allen doing something to move back up.
Curious...What ammunition do you think he has to move back up into the second? |

I think he will deal fine with pressure. He did fine with pressure the last 3-4 games when he was making the push for the heisman. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I don't think I said I wanted Clausen here (well apart from the 2010 draft). What I have said in recent months is that he could be available and I've heard the Skins might be interested in him as a young QB with upside, but not as the new franchise guy. And I didn't see what the harm is in that

I see what you are saying, I just don't see where we have the luxury of depth at any position to trade players for picks without creating another hole somewhere. It will be interesting to see how they handle the draft now and if they do try to move back up somehow. |

Or they could sit tight, and trade down and pick up more mid/late round picks. Who knows. I think the free agency plan will show us where things could be headed for the draft. |

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
No matter what, rglll brings instant excitement and national attention. Weve been a boring franchise for awhile now with offseason moves not equaling on field excitement. Im happy. I might even get season tickets. This move is going to make the ds a ton of money.

I
RG3 has first overall pedigree on the field, not to mention he might just have the best personality/character I have ever seen from a quarterback prospect.. I truly mean that.
I see less question marks with RG3, than I did with Cam Newton.. What I'm worried about are the inevitable ACL tears.
I didnt know any player had inevitable ACL tears. |

The draft likely will be boring. There is no secret about the first two picks and then we likely won't draft again until the third.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Initially I thought, "wow that a lot to give up fto move up 4 spots".
After a while to think about it IMO there is no price to high to get a franchise QB especially when you're franchise hasn't had one in over 20 years. Now it is up to RGIII to prove he is indeed a franchise QB |
Here are the Redskins 2012 picks:
1st 3rd 4th 4th (JC trade) 5th 6th (McNabb trade) 7th That is still a lot of picks. Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I am more concerned with the Colts changing there mind and getting RG3. Either was we are a winner but I think all around RG3 is better. I thought he was just a gun slinger but after watching his interview on TV I think RG3 is the total package and is smart enough to lead up for a few years.

We're in a win-win whether it's RGIII or Luck.
That said, Luck is 99.9% going #1. |
