If our backups fail, and Levi gets past having to start, I think we will bring him in. But the light grows dimmer. On the other hand I really wonder why Levi hasn't signed on with anyone. It seems enough of camp has gone by that he would be getting anxious to be on a team.

Probably because he wants a starting job and starting money. The market just isn't there right now.

My conspiracy theory for Levi. The Redskins told his agent he would get paid starter money if one of two things happens. A) Samuels gets hurt in camp, or B) Williams washes out early. That is why Zorn is pushing Williams into this game. If he can't hold on, he gets cut Levi gets signed, and there is much rejoicing! (not about Williams getting cut as much as Levi getting signed.)

What would Williams have to do with it? Heyer is still penciled in as the starter.

Ok, it's a convoluted conspiracy theory, and not a good one, but here it goes:
The FO doesn't want to pay starting money for a backup (L J)
they bring in MW in hopes he will be effective as a backup (less money and some upside)

they let L J's agent know that there is a potential starting money available to keep him from signing somewhere else

Zorn at this point wants MW gone, but has to prove it to himself and the FO

He puts him in against the Ravens D assuming he will get a good look.

two things could happen:
a) MW succeeds, everyone happy

b) MW fails
Zorn says we need a diff OL and it needs to be L J
Cerrato and Snyder sign Levi Jones
many people happy, feel bad for MW

Really this whole thing is a contrived way to get LJ, or an equivalent player, here to back up Samuels. I am not really thinking RT, Heyer/Bridges will be covering that this year. Buges in one interview said pretty much the same thing, don't stress RT, but he needs a backup for Samuels.

Heyer is the de facto starter cuz we don't have another legit RT on the roster...Levi would/should start over him immediately. Would be a great situation IMO.

I think the only way Levi Jones comes to this team would be if no one signs him and he sees this place as the best situation for him (besides being the starter for another team). Or unless something drastic happens (Samuels or Heyer get injured) that would lead the team to pay him and get him a starting spot.
