Former Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter, who visited the Cardinals last week, is scheduled to visit the Washington Redskins on Thursday.

Porter has said he'd like to play for the Cardinals because of Whisenhunt and Grimm who coached him in Pittsburgh, so he may ask for more than we're willing to give.

At least we get to watch both of them end their seasons by choking every year !

porter has 32 sacks in his last 3 seasons. thats nice. the not nice part is that he is 32. we shall see.

I'm sure people are going to shit on Porter, but I'd take him if we get him for nothing a la the Larry Johnson signing. As I said before, I think we need a LB with 3-4 experience on our roster. I'd take Porter as a stop-gap until Alexander and Jarmon get up to speed as 3-4 LBs.

I like this move, because he knows this defense, our other OLB position is shaky, he's a fiery guy, we no longer have levi jones, he knows lou spanos, he maybe able to come here cheaply, and he can still rush the QB.

I like Porter on a one year deal, although OLB really isn't a position of need.

It seems like his position in the defense would be as a backup for Orakpo, but we could probably work some sort of rotation out that lets them both play at the same time.

Poor Okung, he keeps getting further and further away from Washington.

Apparently the signing of Sean Jones means the Buc's can afford to pass on Berry:
If the St. Louis Rams change what has become their anticipated course and take Ndamukong Suh over Sam Bradford, the Detroit Lions are expected to take Gerald McCoy. That leaves the Bucs with a lot of good options, including any OT they'd want, WR Dez Bryant, or S Eric Berry. But with Jones in the mix, they now have the luxury of entertaining some trade offers, as teams like the Bills and Browns might want to trade up to jump the Redskins for Bradford. Of course, if the Rams stick with the plan to take Bradford, the Lions will almost undoubtedly take Suh, leaving the Bucs with McCoy.
Like I said...trade winds are blowing. Hasn't hit Redskin Park yet, but it will soon.

The Porter news is a bit of a surprise but if Carter and McIntosh are both gone it won't hurt to have a veteran LB familiar with the 3-4 here. I hadn't heard anything about JP visiting until last night so I don't know how serious this visit is

We're not getting Porter for an LJ type contract

I'm not sure why people really care what we sign him at as long as it's not utterly ridiculous
