or the Mcnabb trade. it is still a 50/50 chance at hitting on a player.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Fine I won't mention them John Beck, Dwayne Jarrett, Donnie Avery, James Hardy.
I actually just found out that RG3's number 1 deep threat, Kendall Wright ran a 4.61 at the combine at 5'10. I can only imagine what this guy could do with someone like Vincent Jackson.
Defenses are not close obviously but Jackson and another wr with good speed will help a ton |
Fine I won't mention them John Beck, Dwayne Jarrett, Donnie Avery, James Hardy.
If we had drafted one of those type of 'talents' in the second round with the 39th pick, we would have failed to contend anyway.
A ROY type candidate out of that pick could have been the difference between contention and non-contention. Obviously, the probability of getting a guy like that with the 39th pick isn't very high to begin with, it is just now (barring some sort of lopsided trade in the Redskins favor) zero. So the plan for contention before the Griffin trade was 1) upgrade significantly at quarterback, and 2) find one or two absolute studs in the 2012 draft (Trent Richardson/Morris Claiborne and maybe Kendall Wright in the second or Joe Adams in the third). After the Griffin trade, which figures to significantly (though unreliably, at least in year one) improve that QB position, the plan for immediate is to produce one of the great free agent classes of all time, and then do as well as humanly possible in the draft. Maybe make a trade that further mortgages the future. Which just means that contention in 2012 gets a lot less likely unless Griffin has some sort of insane rookie year that blows Cam Newton and Andy Dalton out of the water. In which case: good trade. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Rookie question:
When we sign RGIII, do we have any idea for how long it's going to be? Is there a "basic-draft-contract" that guarantee a minimum of year in the franchise? Because if we know we're going to keep him for at least 4 of 5 years, hell that's a great trade! |

Why hasn't this trade been made official yet? What's the hold up? Anyone? |

Why don't I see the Rams trade being made official on any major sites? Is it such a formality that they are not even reporting it, or is there a hold up?

If this guy is as good a fit as everyone says he will be and as good as he is touted to be then he should well surpass Dalton. We will see. I have said this before, there will not be a rookie QB for a long time who puts up Newton numbers, and there won't be a QB in the league that puts up Newton's rushing touchdowns any time soon except for maybe Newton. |

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I heard last night, that in 2013 the Redskins have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th(Haynesworth), 6th, 7th, 7th(McNabb). A total of 8 picks. I was happy to hear about the 7th, for McNabb. I was told because he got cut, we got nothing.

Hey, nothing doom and gloom about it. We just saw the NBA reject a huge trade, plus what happened to our cap space just before FA and the ongoing Gregg Williams scandal. Just wanted this thing signed, sealed and delivered. Now rejoice Redskins' Nation.

So in two years, after RGIII's 2nd ProBowl, the league will come back and sanction us because the trade was an unfair practice? |

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
If the SKINS talk to Indy there probably hoping Indy announces there taking Luck so they can say RG3 and sign him to a contract already.

I don't think they can theoreticially do that until Luck is signed. |

I think your right, something tells me Indy will pick RG3 we still win by getting Luck, but I think with the WR's we are picking up they go better with RG3. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
We're in a win/win with either guy. Both have the skillsets and smarts to fit this offense.

It feels like people are starting to get down on Luck for some reason. Not sure why. I'd be happy with either, however. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
As good of a player RGIII is, there might be only a 5-10% chance they take him over Luck; but if Luck hasn't signed w/ the Colts by draft day, that's a hint, though slight, they might not take Luck #1... doubtful but possible

The only real reason I can see them selecting RG3 is because the GM comes from Philly where they have been acquiring athletic QBs for years. I think it fits within his comfort zone. |

I don't think anyone is down on Luck as much as they are just so high on the idea of RG3 it would be somewhat of a letdown to not get him. Either way we're guranteed a heck of a QB prospect. |

Good point. Most recent teams that have an obvious need at the position and hold the first draft pick with a clear #1 on the board sign them before the draft. If Luck is unsigned by the Colts before draft day something will be up I suspect. With the rookie cap instituted now there shouldn't be any reason a deal won't get done. |

The Browns reportedly had offered three No. 1 pick, but not a second. He said all of the reports have been incorrect. The Redskins pulled off the deal with three No. 1s and a second-rounder. "There are reasons it didn't happen,'' said Holmgren. "There's a very close relationship with'' the parties that got it done. He added, "I'm not sure any offer was going to be good enough. We were very aggressive and it didn't work. Rest assured, we were aggressively involved in that.''
|
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
The RG3 market was ridiculous. I'm surprised that Holmgren would admit (after he lost) that he was involved in that.
Then again, I'm not surprised that Holmgren would admit anything. |
