Re: Potential problem with Sean Taylor

arch only got a 5$mill bonus... a lot of his money depends on him staying on the roster. (5 1$mill roster bonuses starting next year). Cause of his injury troubles, its an injury structured contract.

ST makes slightly over 2mill a year (average), but a pro bowl means a 9mill$ bonus. A baseball guy wrote it, and there's just a lot more incentive clauses in your average MLB contract cause there's no cap (they allow owners the chance to pay less if they miss, but it takes away cost certainty).

he almost got to the pro bowl this year... if he gets in, that's it, its a 27mill contract and almost the same deal as arch. If he hits other incentives it becomes better.

if he holds out, his chances to hit his incentives starts to go downhill.

Re: Potential problem with Sean Taylor

This entire discussion is pretty much moot at this point. His entire future is all up to a jury and judge. In other words, his future is in doubt. There is a very real chance, ST will never play in the NFL again (what is that chance? I'd guess somewhere between 25% and 75% -- it isn't 0 and it isn't 100%).

Now, if he is found not guilty, gets the charges thrown out or something like that, he is going to make a great deal of money. The good news for ST is that he didn't get drafted by a cheap owner. The bad news is nobody wants to redo deals with Screw Rosenhaus (if only the NFL would whack that worthless POS).

My take on ST is that what happened in Miami was a wake up call for the man. He didn't keep his nose 100% clean, but you did see quite a bit of good stuff. He still needs to grow up. I just hope for his sake (this is bigger than football) that one mistake doesn't destroy his life.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Taylor fire his first agent and try to get more money before his rookie season? If that's true, then he doesn't seem like much of a team guy.

i dont think he fired him to get more money. no motive was ever explained. right after the deal he fired the guy that wrote it and re-hired his old agent. he's deal is super cap friendly to the skins, so i'd say it was very (incidently) team oriented ;)

speaking of rosenhaus, youd think his tactic of having players hold out for a big day wont be working anymore, so he prolly wont suggest taylor does that.

His original agent was actually Drew Rosenhaus then he fired him right after being drafted and went with Jeff Moorad. But then he and Moorad parted ways without explanation. But a week later Moorad announced that he was leaving the sports agent business all together to be President (or something like that) of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Then Sean went back to Drew...circle of life

Yeah, very powerful story - but I think it was just the circle thing at the end that made it so dramatic.

First, I'm not going to refer to Archiletta as "Arch". He's not Carroll O'Conner and I am not The Meathead. It annoys me for some reason.

Second, there is nothing to suggest that Taylor will hold out. He understands how the game is played and knows that he will get his when the time comes.
1) Sean Taylor doesn't have much barganing leverage right now with his trial coming up. They were going to try something like that last season, but this whole weapons, assault thing came up and they dropped the idea.

2) Sean needs to prove he has become a mature adult. Not a punk who spits on people, disrespects a hall of fame coach, skips workouts, and pulls guns on people. When he can do the right stuff off the field for just a year or so, I have a feeling Joe, Danny, and GW will work out a very nice payday for him.

3) plus Arch has been in the league for what 6 years, playing at a consistant high level. Sean has two years under his belt.
Don't ever compare Taylor to Archuletta again.

Re: Potential problem with Sean Taylor

Taylor's additude changed last year only after his arrest and the need to change his image arose. If he gets off these charges I'd be willing to bet he will hold out this year.

I mean, his choice off agent says it all. In his defense, his contract was a little low for where he was drafted.............but he did sign it.

adam is pretty good. but i think taylor, is a better all around player. even though he gets into off the field problems.
? i do not see the humor. im very serious. if youve ever read the interviews of other players and them talking about their opinions of sean, they are nothing but glowing.
What you say is true...that is good. But the facts are he may do some time. I hope not. I love to see him and Arch hitting anything that moves!!!!
