And you state this "fact" based on what? You have data or a quote to back up your statement? I don't think so. |

Every interview I hear with Gibbs makes that weeks opponent sound like an invincible team. Heck, last week he made the Cards sound like the 49ers of the 80s. Its just how Gibbs talks, not something he really believes. |
Re: Gibbs Doesn't Think We Can Beat Pats
Did anyone see the NFL Network's "America's Game" on the 1991 Skins? Charles Mann joked that he found himself sounding like Gibbs in the Pre-Super Bowl interviews. He said everyone on the team was saying how great the Bills were, and the media hated it, because they wouldn't say anything controversial. Classic Gibbs.

Yep, seen that part and how the media was all over the Bills with the players posing for them. This is not just Gibbs, all the coaches come and praise their opponents. I think it has to do with guts. Coaches today do that to save themselves from all the embarassment if they say they will win and then they end up losing. Belichek, for instance, would bring out the positives of the other team. Even the Dolphins, he probably said oh well they played us very well last year or we are 2-4 the last six games we played them at Miami. If coaches say they will win and win = confidence and it was a pep talk If coaches say they will win and lose = hubris |
