I'd say Mike Sellers is way underpaid. I'd also say that though we just resigned Cooley, he's a good bargain.

In Collins' case, can't you see the logic there? Why would he want to go anywhere else? If you're 36, going on 37, and haven't played football your entire NFL career, and knowing that QB's careers go downhill after 37 (typically), wouldn't you want to avoid learning new systems?

I think Danny will take care of him pretty well. But the guy is in line for a one-year deal a la Jeff Garcia in Tampa (after that great relief appearance in Philly). I bet we don't have to pay him that much to keep him. He's going to want to start, but he's going to want to start for Saunders.
I agree that Collins will think long and hard about going somewhere else. All he has to do is talk to Brunell. He didn't exactly keep his frustrations hidden when asked about learning Saunders' system.

I agree. I think that Brunell's inability to either learn and/or absorb Saunders system, plus the fact that his arm turned into a wet noodle and he couldn't throw any passes EXCEPT the checkdowns, lead to our offensive failure in the beginning of last year.

Collins should DEF stay here next season. Easier for him, easier for the team, it just works out better.

It would be weird to use Collins later kinda like Arizona used Tim Rattay this year after JC got healthy. For some reason that just came to mind. Beer.

No. Collins is old and is great for short-term success, but Campbell is still the QB of our future and looks like he can be VERY successful. A 2 QB system would only hamper Campbell's development.

Besides, how would it work? We put Collins in when it's time to protect the ball? We put Campbell in to scramble?

I just wonder if the career backup can keep it up, or if his bubble is going to burst tomorrow, especially under the pressure of playing on the road in the playoffs.

Well, considering he played on the road in Minnesota and New York where a loss would have knocked the team out of playoff contention, I'd say he is okay with game pressure.

Admittedly, Qwest is a tough place to play, but it's just the next step and it's not like he hasn't faced a noisy crowd in these last three weeks.

He played well on the road in Minnesota and New York, both against teams that needed to win.
How about Ladell Betts last year?
Good one. I'd argue that signing Cooley before his Pro Bowl season saved us millions had he been allowed to test his value in free agency.

Yep. Cooley could have demanded some mega bucks on the open market.

Speaking of that, isn't it great to see a guy have a monster season after signing a fat contract like he did? Too often you see guys sign big deals and then they lose their edge. Not with Cooley, he just continues to improve.

Montgomery, Doughty, and Golston all have contracts that expire next season. I hope some effort is made to keep them from free agency, expecially Montgomery.
