I'll go out on a limb and say your completely off your rocker. not only will the Raiders not break .333, but Campbell will stink it up and Oakland fans will blame the 15 systems he's had to learn in the past 16 years or some other such nonsense. news flash: Campbell is not a starting-caliber NFL qb.
News flash: look at the numbers and you will see that Campbell is a middle-of-the-road starting QB, finishing right around 16th in the league. No better than the middle, but no worse than the middle, either. Campbell's problem is that he likely will never be elite, not that he is not starter caliber. I wish JC all the best in the Bay area. |
Re: Good for Campbell
"He's just an automatic leader. He didn't have to get pushed into that role. Once he was in the huddle, you could see guys standing at attention. He's quick to put the guys in their right place, offense or defense, and that's something we really needed from that position."
Interesting that this is one of the things CP hammered him on. I remember when Shockey left the Giants, Eli really took a step forward in his leadership. Maybe JC can have the same kind of renaissance in Oakland |

I don't neccessarily disagree with you....except for the bottom line. If Campbell isn't a starting caliber NFL qb....then another 10+ or so starting QB's aren't either. If you were to say he is not a top 10 franchise quality QB...then I'd agree. Our issues with our team at this point last year were (in order) Coaching GM Owner Players (oline, WR, QB in that order) So, even though we got McNabb....the upgrade is solid but not radical...Campbell is good and I wish we could have kept him as a backup...after all...I think we only got a 4th rounder for him....I think a stellar backup is worth more than that....however, they wanted a clean break and to do the right thing for campbell. I personally will miss the guy...yeah, very vanilla, no charisma at all, quite dull and uninspiring....but he IS a quality QB. I hope he does well as he is a high character guy. |

Re: Good for Campbell
Ok. So good to hear from JC.
BUT I will caution this one simple fact: The last 2 Redskins Training Camps Peter "I dislike the Redskins" King has had rave reviews about Jason playing very well and making every throw. This is JC's time of year. Now if he can do some of it in a Regular Season football game I may give him a chance for success. BUT we all know better than giving the guy to much credit to perform in Real NFL football games. He can do it in camp but can he do it in a game? As some one who has watched all of Jason's career, I am going out on a limb and say NO. |
Re: Good for Campbell
he's still gonna suck in oakland, that OLine is worse than the one from last year, and his receivers suck.

Re: Good for Campbell
As someone who likes to study QB's and their sucess or failure I feel alot of it has to do with where they go along with just how mature they are. A few guys just can't handle the pressure/limelight/money that comes with being a high draft QB, Russell being one of those types.
I hope Campbell does well we all, at some point in our lives, need a second chance. |
Re: Good for Campbell
Nah, I don't think JaMarcus had any pressure. He just was more concerned about raiding the vending machines in the stadium and wearing fur coats than playing football and there wasn't a counterbalance to that in the Raiders organization.

yeah...I love how people are in LOVE with campbell now that he is gone. Do you guys not remember him sailing it over WR's heads? Do you not remember that his stats were so good cause he'd tack on about 150 yards in garbage time in the 4th QTR when we were already going to LOSE the game? Or when he fumbled the ball? Or didn't check out of the wrongly called play(by that turd of a coach we had) to the right play? I love him as a person, he is a class act and a great role model for children..but just b/c you are a nice person doesn't make you an NFL QB. I wish him the best, but don't blow it out of the water and say he was good when he was here...cause he was not good. He was middle of the pack which is also know as medicore. Ask Aaron Rogers how his OLine was...what kind of numbers did he put up? |

I'm not saying Campbell will be like Plunkett, but you never know. I guess will find out by the end of the season. |
Re: Good for Campbell
well I guess I'll be the first to say it,I hope JC stinks it up this yr.If he does great it will give the media another excuse to say how bad our organzation is,were so stupid, blah blah blah.Plus I would like to think we knew what we were doing when we got rid of him.

Re: Good for Campbell
Tell me again who JC will throw 2 in oakland? D H B? Chaz Schilens? Come on folks, they better hand it to D-Mac and Mike Bush alot. We all know JC is a decent QB but I could name 15 QB's I'd rather have on my team.
|
Re: Good for Campbell
The Raiders will be about the same this season. Too many holes to fill and questions to be answered. JC is an upgrade over Russell though. From what some of the guys in the training camp thread have been saying about Donovan's performances thus far, we need to worry more about him than JC.

Re: Good for Campbell
Definitely wish him the best, really liked the kid and still do, one of the few Redskins I will pay some attention to while they are with another team.
I still don't think he was as bad as everyone makes it appear, the line was pretty bad for him every season, but I understand it doesn't matter about that, it's all about the W's and he didn't do it. I hope he gets it going in Oakland though. |
