Mocks!

Mocks are only to be looked at in general! Do not think any one Mock has the concession on any other Mock. Use all of them, and realize, after we make our pick, we picked wisely! At the time of each draft, it always appears we get the best player available. Howard, Westbrook, Gardner all appeard to be solid during that particular draft. I'm not mocking the Mocks! I'm saying don't get all caught up in just one as a favorite, or another favorite! Realize that the guy we get will appear on most mocks somewhere near, or right dead on the spot we indeed draft at! It is all in opinions! Each of the 32 teams have their own opinion, just as we do. Just don't run you life by prospective mocks!

Re: DRAFT Nightmare!!!!
We don't need another "mediocre" Cornerback. It would be extremely stupid to take one with the overall #9 pick so I hope he is gone way before we pick.

And all these dips**** that want to "trade down" simply astound me with their lack of logic. Yeah trade down. That will make us a lot better instead of taking the best available player (so long as its not a cb). Besides, you have to find someone to trade with you and this draft is not that deep in talent IMO.
Re: DRAFT Nightmare!!!!
Confused by two things:
1. Who is the mediocre cornerback? Pac-Man Jones (who runs a 4.45 40 and has a 37"+ vertical, and is regarded by every scout as an outstanding shutdown corner) or Antrel Rolle (a 6', 200+lbs cornerback who is a great cover-man and a tremendous tackler)?
2. Taking the "best player available" does not always equate to a successful draft pick. If this mock draft is correct, and the top two WRs and CBs are taken when #9 rolls around, the Skins (who don't have a second round pick, yet again) would absolutely be best served trading down a few spots to acquire an additional pick(s). Why would they make a stretch on the 3rd best CB or WR when they could get them later in the draft? And why would they simply opt for the "best player available"? What if the best player available is a RB, or an OLB, or a Safety? That, to me, doesn't make sense. Just my opinion.
You DO NOT..........repeat..........DO NOT....draft a "mediocre" cornerback with the #9 overall. What about that do you not understand. Unless it is proven that he is a pure shutodwn corner, which he is not, do you even think about it.

Re: DRAFT Nightmare!!!!

I can list for you just as many 1st round busts as I can 1st round gems over the last 5-10 years, so if you have a knack for scouting talent (i.e. Cooley) then you may want to trade down to get a few "Real Redskins" rather than an over priced star that may never pan out.

So just so we all understand what you're saying is that the "best" cornerbacks in this year's draft, Rolle and Pac-Man, are "mediocre" and therefore are not worthy of being the #9 pick

Is that what you're saying?

Re: DRAFT Nightmare!!!!

Cooley???????? Is that the best you can do? You homers act like he dominated. He was just another sad, putrid, overhyped part of our crappy offense.

Whaaaaaaaat?! There was no hype to COloey whatsoever. HE was a go-ottoo guy andd just contintued to play soild all year. It wasntt like hwas our first round p ic k and we expected alot ouf of him.

Cooley didn't dominate, nor was he "sad" or "putrid". He may have been overhyped by Redskins fans desperately searching for a "Redskins guy"-throwback kind of player, but he was very solid for a rookie, regardless of whether he played in crappy offense-- which he did.

It's certainly debatable whether he was worth trading away this year's 2nd round pick, but he was definitely one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal year offensively.

I think a lot of people got excited by Cooley's potential, and whenever he was able to make a good play-- and he did make a few this past season-- it just elevated the enthusiasm some of us have for him, particularly since there was little else to be excited about.

He has a long way to go before he becomes a "dominate" player-- and maybe he never will-- but I think a big part of the reason that people are so excited about him is the fact that he is a genuine, humble, likeable guy-- much like Skins fan favorites of the past.

I don't think Cooley is an all pro or anything, but there were only 4 TEs that had more TDs than him, Bubba Franks, Tony Gonzales, Daniel Graham and Antonio Gates (he was tied with Marcus Pollard, Alge Crumpler, Jason Witten and Jeremy Shockey), personally I think that pretty good company as far as TEs go
