Thrash get's my vote....he sort of has that Gary Clark toughness about him. He's definitely a Redskin.

Thrash will likely get the nod to start the season. Jacobs hasn't been healthy enough to earn it. McCants may get more red zone looks if he makes the team, but not the overall 3rd slot. Dyson probably won't make the team. Brown will likely see more return duty than regular work this year.

Thrash is a consistent performer who doesn't make a lot of mistakes. That's going to stand out to Gibbs.

Hey, here's a funny idea. Thrash was cut by the Eagles in favor of Pinkston and Mitchell. He's going to have more catches this year than the two of them combined.

I think it is significant that HOF Coach Gibbs singled out Dyson. I'm not ready to back any particular WR, but I can tell you that Brown will start for our STs! Never forget, STs are equally as important as O & D!

jacobs and thrash start on ST too, so does sean taylor (and all 3 are good there), so that's a bit of a moot point ;)

Re: Moss, Patten, and...

During the Cincy game, a graphic came up on the Redskins broadcast network asking whether it will be Antonio Brown or Kevin Dyson as the main return man. I don't think it's even close. It's gotta be Brown by a mile. Dyson's been virtually nonexistant so far.

The thing about Brown is that he always seems to be going absolute full speed. Skinsncanes, just watch Brown's legs on his next return. The guy motors on every return like it's the very last of his career.

As far as the #3 receiver, it looks like it's going to be Thrash -- I think Gibbs sees veteran leadership, hard work, dedication, and reliability in Thrash. With Brown as the return man, that leaves just one spot (with presumably only 5 wideouts total on the roster). My guess would be Jacobs gets it, but that seems to be based only on potential, promise, and what a former Redskin cornerback said about how he performs in practice. How that carries over year after year is beyond me, but this season has got to be it for him, unless he can break into the top three.

McCants and Dyson will be given their walking papers.

I see it as Thrash but if Jacobs recovers from his toe injury quickly, I think Jacobs could sneak in there or take over the spot a few games into the season.

I also concur with the hardworking, lunchpail, blue collar Thrash.
Jacobs injury and McCants still not showing anything will make Thrash the choice.............. Dyson will be a backup, although I think on occassion Brown may seem some action..

James Thrash is my awnser. I just think he puts in the hard work that this coaching staff looks for and I think he'll be rewarded for it. He's a reliable target for what he is. I think he, and everyone knows he isnt a superstar, but he can be quite good when he is used as a #3 type reciver.

I wouldnt be suprised to see Antionio Brown pop that spot either. He has looked very good thusfar in the preseason, although he hasent been playing against the talent Thrash has so far.

I think that Jacobs will be the offical number three. I saw where he started jogging today so it looks like he recovery is coming along well.

I do think we are going to see a steady rotation of Thrash, Jacobs, Brown, and Dyson (?) this season at the third and fourth wideout spots.

Joe Gibbs loves guys who will put it all on the line. Thrash just reaks of a Gibbs soldier.

Depending on the availability of Jacobs do to his injury I feel Thrash will be # 3 while Jacobs will emerge as the number 3 not too much later.

I say Thrash.
Jacobs will just get hurt again if he plays.

Re: Moss, Patten, and...

Thrash. Total Gibbs guy, and even though he doesn't have the height, he's tough and durable enough for the possession WR role, at least part of the time. I thought it would be Jacobs, but the injury has held him back....I agree with others that he could take the job a couple weeks in. I think McCants may have a shot too, but he'll probably end up as the #4/5. I think Dyson will be cut due to his age, but will probably play for somebody this year as an injury replacement.
Brown will make the roster as the return man, and barring injuries to the other WR's, I bet he gets about as much time at WR as Morton did at RB last year before he got hurt.

Re: Moss, Patten, and...

Another question to consider, is if Gibbs has any 4 WR sets in his offense. With Spurrier, it was a stable formation, becuase he did not have TE's or H-backs, but I have not seen a 4WR set yet in the Preseason. I guess the most we could hope for on 3rd and long is 3WRs plus Cooley. It will be hard to get a 4th WR in the game, unless the formation changes at the goal line and they get in a Jacobs, or a McCants who is tall for the "Old Jump Ball Corner Fade play". Otherwise it is Thrash all the way for number 3.
