My mother as a public school teacher got the preasure to join the union back in the 80's or maybe late 70's. At first the unions had the childrens interest in hand but it slowley turned away. She quit the union because she felt that the union had turned its back on the children only to gain more power.

palin also begged for the money for a bridge to nowhere, got the money, and when it turned into a fiasco, went on to say there was no way that bridge would be built (to save face), but then she kept the 100mill+ that congress gave alaska to get it built.

yeah the bridge was stupid, and she was in favor of it, then stole the f'ing money... what a great reformer!

as far as out of context buster - obama (in the youtube clip) said the comment was in regards to the mccain economic plan, so its not like he didn't explain it (And his response was very good).

on the nuclear front, it's both sides killing it. not allowing re-use of fuel rods (which would make nuclear energy MUCH cheaper), not allowing adaptations for ships (nuclear ships can go farther faster and hold more since fuel isn't weighting them down - cheaper too, even with an expanded crew)... and it's cleaner than basically any other form of energy, almost infinitely scalable (the big problem with solar/wind/etc), and you don't even have any real risk (pebble beds don't meltdown). Its stupid we haven't built new nuke plants since what? 1960 something? but the current laws are completely misguided.

The Democratic Party has a whole team of people pouring over tapes and transcripts to find some Republican saying something they can construe as a racist, but now they want to stick to the issues.

It looked to me like the audience in Virginia took it to be a Palin reference based on their reaction. Why would you whoop and cheer for a worn out cliche like that unless you thought it was an attack line.

Sorry but the dems have faught against nuclear energy every chance they get. I'm sure some rep. have also but they are not in the majority.

That being said, I have the utmost confidence that the comment was made with no ill intent. This is a case of the right over reacting. But with all the dirt that has been slung by the left, and all the cheap shots, and the propaganda, you can't blame the right for being a little sensitive.

That's kind of funny, I feel it's the exact opposite. The Dems can throw whatever they want, and use massive propoganda to their advantage (it's everywhere, look at NBC and ABC...look at ESPN pushing obama but not even inviting McCain for example...shit, they even fight each other, clinton vs obama) they can throw whatever mud they want, and whenever someone fights back a little or sees something else in a comment, they stand up and go "what???" There will be no end. The 2012 race begins on the Wednesday after the election and all this crap will basically continue. It started w/ Clinton and the Repubs hammering him about BS and it has continued w/ Bush and the Dems hammering him about BS. It is our political way now. The thought that either one of these guys is going to take residence in the Whitehouse and set forth to get everyone to work together and sing Kumbaya is laughable. There are too many scorched earth politicians and advisers in DC to ever let that happen again.

Politics is largely about ignorant people holding a position they don't understand and attempting to argue for it and against anything else. The general public is so ignorant about everything from economics to history to science to philosophy that the argument turns into name calling and funny pictures.

I don't care if you're an evangelical or arguing for socialized health care, most people flat out don't understand the issues. The media (CNN, Fox, take your pick) has to have SOMEthing to talk about all day long, and this kind of immature bickering really appeals to the masses.

It really serves to highlight that, when all is said and done, all the anger, vitriol and hate is directed at one guy who's probably not really responsible for it anyway.

It's a widespread system or machine, not one lone guy. That's why I maintain that the best thing for this country to do as a whole is put a lot more focus on the legislative and judicial branches than the executive branch.

The executive branch so often gets reduced and simplified to one man. This country is about a LOT more than one guy sitting in the Oval Office.

I agree!

I can honestly say I am an amatuer when it comes to politics/goverment and the real issues. I think most people are.

My mom for example is a Dem. and every day that I go to visit her she is using whatever buzz word of the day is on CNN. IF I hear her say one more time the Rep. really pulled a "wildcard" on us, I am going to scream.
