How about a guy who is being projected as a starter in his rookie year at either guard or center? He has been compared to some of the top centers in the league and we know how the Skins like guys who can play more than one position. This guy could be a quality starter for years and make things easier for Campbell AND Portis. Oh yeah, and he's super-smart. :laughing- You got it Hog1, but since other teams know about him too, it's going to be a hard-fought game to get him. |
Re: What should we draft?
Best available of these:
Defensive Tackle Offensive Tackle Or trade the entire draft class for Kris Jenkins. |

I started reading about him after one of your post's TMC. Kid looks pretty awesome. |
Re: What should we draft?
No one under 300 lbs. Just let Bugel and Blanche handle the draft this year, Dan and Vinny can go play handball, or racquetball or whatever it is they do.

Re: What should we draft?
1st DE 2nd OT 3rd DT 4th OG 5th C 6th lb 7thDE
We don't have out 2nd, 4th or 7th round picks. We traded those for Jason Taylor, Pete Kendall and Erasmus James. |
Re: What should we draft?
i think its way to early to tell, but if we fall out of playoff contention... i would bench all the receivers except moss, most of the o-line, most of the d-line and jason campbell to see what our young guys can do.
|
Re: What should we draft?
We should draft a bunch of players. With the first round pick, I would look on the defensive side of the ball first if we can land an impact player. Overall though, the focus should be on the offense, because we are younger and deeper on defense than we are on offense.

JT - Will be worth it. Maybe I'm just a homer but in watching the Seahawks game I felt like Jason Taylor was starting to get the hang of this defense. If he explodes down the strech watch out. Kendall - Definately was worth it James - Didn't work out. |
Re: What should we draft?
1st Rounder:::DT- Everyone talks about the lack of a pass rush. Well we need a big body in the middle to collapse the pocket. The only way this team gets a sack is when we bring extra help because when the DE's come around the outside the opposing quarterbacks step up into the pocket and completes the pass.
3rd Rounder:::OT- We need to stop other teams interior lineman from collapsing the line. |
Re: What should we draft?
The best player available is what we need to adress. We need depth at every position, and if a rookie steps up and takes the starters position so be it.Trade the first round for a couple of mid-round picks. We need young talent at almost every position.Id even go as far as trading Campbell for a quality player and giving Colt a shot, dont let this kid get away.He is a future pro-bowler.I know thats a strong statement but ive watched him for years and reminds me of a future hall of famer.Nowadays there is quality talent in the middle round and you dont need a bunch of superstars you need quality "blue colllar"guys.
|
Re: What should we draft?
we need some serious Line help on both sides of the ball but O line should be first priority in my opinion
|
Re: What should we draft?
i would love to see us draft a receiver early, but we did that last year and campbell is struggling with performing with all these sacks. NOt to mention Jansen is getting old, so why not an offensive lineman?
|
Re: What should we draft?
Offensive tackle. Jansen is seriously past his prime as a tackle (he should look at guard and center) and if Heyer can't supplant him then we need an upgrade.
D line is almost as important. |
Re: What should we draft?
For those that think Jansen can play G or C...dont you think he'll have the same problem Wade did? Too tall and Lanky to get low enough and use leverage as is required to play either inside position?
|
Re: What should we draft?
I'm going with DE or LB first, the need is obvious. I think that Gessinger and Devin Clark (practice squad) are intriguing prospects that could make it as starters, also Rhinehart can play T and we have Heyer. I'm not saying that we don't need OL but Defense wins SB.
|
Re: What should we draft?
Let me know what you guys think
1st round DE Selvie...we desperately need a pass rush 3rd round OLB Rico McCoy...replacement for Washington in 2010 5th round DT Boo Robinson..best avaliable (stops the run & pushes the pocket) (325)lbs 6th round OT Fenuki Tupou OT 6'6 330 (great pass blocker..shut Selvie down in bowl gm |
Re: What should we draft?
I have to completely agree with everyone who thinks Jansen is done...he would not be starting on half the teams in the league and even Chris Samuels seems to get overpowered sometimes for someone who is supposedly one of the best in the league...basically, the best offensive guard available or a linebacker...fletcher, washington etc. are getting old and McIntosh/Blades are average at best, need a young, solid AJ Hawk type linebacker who can match up with Kevin Boss and Jason Witten/Bennet in the division

wow you're an idiot...trade campbell after giving him one year in the system when he has done better than Favre, Montana, and Young did in their first years in the west coast offense? give me a break... also, i don't know if you noticed but colt has the ugliest release i have ever seen on a redskins quarterback and he is far from being ready to be even a dependable backup for the team. You want a perennial pro bowler, stick with Campbell, the guy's smart, has a cannon for an arm, and wants to learn..this year's performance is phenomenal if you consider what he has had to go through his entire football career. |
Re: What should we draft?
I'd say offensive tackle, but only if where we fall in the draft facilitates a good pick.. Say we pick 20th or whatever (not a prediction) and all of the OT top talent is gone, we take the chance that the following rounds' talent will still be there. If there's a stud LB or DT, maybe even DE, take that.
We have a lot of people that are going to need replacing in the near future, especially on OL, a bit on DL, LB, and DB Hopefully our youth movement with Landry, Horton, Blades, McIntosh, Rogers and maybe Dante Hall will keep us going for awhile. |

Last time I checked AJ Hawk was horrible in coverage. I do agree that we need a LB though. |
Re: What should we draft?
AJ Hawk might be terrible in coverage but he is solid...the type of guy who rarely misses tackles and can manage a defense so that london fletcher's replacement is there...
|
Re: What should we draft?
too early, since we don't know when we'll pick, who's available, and I haven't looked at any highlights or seen the combine/game/etc yet.
we need a new RT to play yesterday though - or maybe a stud LT that can hang out on the right till samuels is done. |
Re: What should we draft?
Im not an idiot, but i see a QB that has problems under pressure .(he holds the ball). And in this day and age they will bring the farm.I will give you one answer to your obsession with Campbell of why hes doing descent, its called Clinton Portis. It seems he cant win the games, without run support.I dont want to bash on Campbell,i do like him ,i just think in the long haul ,Brennan will be better. As for his release, look at his completion rating.I do believe it is around the 70% range in Hawaii.A version of the run and gun offense ,deep throws, middle routes, etc.Pretty good completion % for an offense that goes deep. And in the combine he was the only QB without an incompletion. He reminds me alot of a young armslinger that came up in the early 90's and plays for the Jets.

campbell sucks? brennan's superman? 70% in a gimmick WAC offense isn't going to carry over to the nfl. he might be good, he might not be, but your expectations may be too high. |

agreed..but campbell has few playmakers around him.. so he has to rely on portis.. and so do the playcallers I think that we'd see a whole diff campbell if kelly and/or thomas comes around and moss stays healthy to compare the hawaii offense to what we're doing in the nfl is ridiculous.. is this you coach spurrier? |
Re: What should we draft?
Offensive Tackle, Jansen is a liability. That isnt to say he wasnt the leader of the OLINE since '99 and playing with brokken thumbs he still was amazing but him sucking in pass blocking or having a guy fail in 1 dimennsion of his game can and may be a health risk to the guys around him. 1 weak liink breaks the chain. RThomas is amazing we need to stack a guy next to him with more than heart/admoration(heyer)
WLB- MWashington is defective, obsolete call it what you want- too much money for average mediocre play. I remember when he stripped TO on the 5 yard line...3 years ago Center- Raybach is undersized for todays DLINE. I do think we are in real good shape this year we may not be so much as shopping just filling patches, to replace aging guys. Ive been harping for years that we just need to Draft and build cheap. Keep the talent and pay them well not buying FA everywhere. We are on the way to achieving that. Giants vs Reskins....Yay Yaayyyyy. |
Re: What should we draft?
Macho Harris
Center- Raybach is undersized for todays DLINE.
Yeah, he has dropped off as a decent lineman. I love the guy, he has been around and helped up through thick and thin, but its time to get a bigger, younger guy in there. |
Re: What should we draft?
The best Center or Offensive Tackle.

Re: What should we draft?
Kicker Suisham has the leg of a 12 year old. How many games has he been depended on to spark a rally or keep the crowd into it. He isnt asked to kick many but each of his misses costs us severely.
The 2 players I want run out of town are Suisham and MWashington, we can do better. |
Re: What should we draft?
Can Suisham And Draft Someone That Can Kick A Field Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What should we draft?
We need the big guys up front. Whether it be an offensive or defensive we need em. Hanyesworth in free agency and Oher in the draft would be a great start.

Any 1 of Boston College's Linebackers...

Re: What should we draft?
How about Brandon Lang this guy is a beast, and he's rightfully so compared to D Ware..we could sure use a real speed beast on the edge Brandon Lang/DE/#91/3Jr: Lang is a tremendous pass rusher and reminds many of former Troy State star DeMarcus Ware. He's a quick edge rusher who displays enough speed to pursue the action from the backside. Lang has a great future; the junior will be a top 75 draft pick in 2010. found on sports illustrated cnn.com

Goodbye Suisham and Plackeimeier. That extra roster spot could let Kelly get on the field. |
