Re: Shanahan presser thread
After listening to and seeing Bruce and Shanny in the pressers, NOBODY can convince me that we are not going to be RADICALLY changed for the better next season. These guys...........get it.
Discipline, team spirit, good tough camp, no locker room BS TO THE PRESS (CP) .........music to my ears Sweet....sweet day |
Re: Shanahan presser thread
Shanahan has been watching this team for a couple of years now, he has been dissecting every aspect of this team, if we as fans can see the the flaws of this team , and most fans dont know alot about football, imagine what shanahan has seen with his staff, his endorsement of JC just confirmed that me

Re: Shanahan presser thread
Few things:
1) Skins need to go back to Carlisle for training camp where they belong. 2) I think Shanny will give Portis every opportunity to stay and get with the program or he'll be gone before you can say Redskin One. They're going to have a little heart-to-heart and I think the first time Portis mentions Mr. Snyder, I think that will que Shanny to dump him. 3) I think we're looking at 10-6 next year. Not because Shanny is so great, but because we won't drop those games we're suppose to win in the closing minutes. I'm pretty encouraged. |
When asked if he could see Campbell as his starting qb...... " I definitely could".
Juding by the comment u mentioned along with what I mentioned I think we have our QB. If I was Jason I would be confident as hell right now. Shanny seems to have jasons back.
I bet he felt good when Zorn told him he could be the starting QB. When Shanny said it i bet he feels great along with Portis's comments he will be motivated this year. |
Shanahan just said you can always tailor your offense to the talents of your QB.
I was happy to hear him say that. No more fitting round pegs into square holes, per Jim Zorn. |
Re: Shanahan presser thread
These guys are hitting all the right notes. Allen on 980 was clear that there will be discipline, that losing to NFC East teams is NOT the Redskins way, that they will give the current coaches a chance to make a pitch to stay, BUT no one is guaranteed, and Shanahan said that he wants his position coaches to know that position better than he does- I think that is a pretty tall order.

Re: Shanahan presser thread
The entire roster especially offense will be scrutinized by shanahan, either you can or you cant
|
Re: Shanahan presser thread
Oh for what it's worth, a good friend who's fairly close to the Allen family confirmed what someone else here mentioned, that Bruce and Shanny have been talking about doing a move together for a while. Again, I have to firsthand knowledge of this, just what someone told me.
I think it was simply the right place and right time more than Snyder's brilliance bringing them here. |

It did seem like he already knew about this organization and everything about it. When they brought up CP and Soup, he said he wants things to stay in the locker room and the need for discipline. |

Well for sure we know Devin, Kelly, and Davis will be penciled in as starters next year. I'm also excited about Marko having another full year of camp under his belt. I really think 10-6 or 11-5 is realistic next season. And I haven't even started drinking Kool Aid yet! |

Hopefully he feels the same way about our defense. |

I've seen more objective articles over the last year on Redskins.com. I mean it's still bias for the most part in favor of the Skins but at least it's not the same old everything is fine type articles we've come to expect. |

Sounds like no more BS at Redskins Park. We've got real pros in charge.

Our schedule is beyond brutal next year (Indy, GB, Minnesota, Houston are just the home games out of the division!) so a big jump in wins is going to be very tough but we will be much improved, even if the standings don't immediately reflect it. |

Damn, that is pretty tough. But I think 10-6 is in order. |

Shanahan is a no BS kind of guy, no doubt. He is definitely the face of the franchise now.

Maybe we'll get lucky and play Indy and GB after they have locked up #1 or #2 in their respective conferences. Maybe Minnesota will win the superbowl and Favre will retire. APs hit a wall and their offense will be nothing without Favre. Ok, i think that's enough optomism for me for one day... |
the redskins website is so bogged down I can't get on it to view the presser. Anyone have another link?
GM Comcast carried the presser live, if you're here in DC I'm surprised you hadn't tuned in, or was it that you didn't know Comcast was carrying it? |

Maybe Minny will lose their QB and not be as tough. And maybe Houston just lost their offense...to us. :) |

Re: Shanahan presser thread
Next one on now- Shanahan on ESPN980 with Doc Walker.
First question: what is Dan Snyder's role on the Redskins now. Shanahan references JG and says Snyder will support you, Snyder told Mike Shanahan that DS wants Mike to run this team. |
Re: Shanahan presser thread
I'm hoping for 9 and 7.
As far as JC, i get the impression that he will have to earn his spot, especially if a QB is drafted. So concievably that leaves Jason, Colt Brennan, and whoever is drafted. I'm thinking TC15 is either cut or will retire... |
Re: Shanahan presser thread
Shanahan just said you can always tailor your offense to the talents of your QB.
So I guess he will find WR's 12 feet tall and can catch the ball with their feet. |
No Frostburg love, guys? That was my favorite spot.
I still have Video fottage from the last time I was there. Norv was the coach, it was the same year Dan Wilkerson and Dana Stubbefield came to the team. |

Love it! HGTV & espn could simulcast: historic paint colors, colonial recipes & redskins training camp! The history channel could also get involved & talk about our name & the native americans down the road at Jamestown. I'll be waiting w/pint in hand at the green leafe! |
Re: Shanahan presser thread
Shanahan says he has the mindset to get JC to the "next level"

Next year some of those teams on there might look like powderpuffs, though I wouldn't count on Indy being one of them. Green Bay on the other hand could go either way, and Minnesota....well Brett Farve + Offseason. Houston, well they're tough offensively but I think if we get a football team going we can beat them, though it's not like we have a whole lot of room to talk about beating teams, at least for now. |
Re: Shanahan presser thread

I think we lost at least four or five games on coaching; two on Suisham's foot alone. This team doesn't lack effort or talent, the guys leading the team just didn't get the best out of the 53 man roster. That's the trick in the NFL. It's not having a roster full of Pro-Bowlers, it's getting the best out of a bunch of average Joes. Look, every team has holes. The Vikings, the Saints, the Colts, on and on. Our deficiencies were so glaring because our guys weren't prepared and properly coached week in and week out. So I think a great/good coaching staff closes that gap by at least four or five games. |

That's what I'm thinking. there's always that team that wins a few more than everyone really thinks they could, but I don't think we can expect a winning team in 2010. A competitive team, yes. I think Shanny is smart to praise JC for now; he knows how to publicly raise the value of his players & get the max out of trades, so if a few teams are interested I expect a tender & subsequent deal. I'd like to see JC stay though. |
Re: Shanahan presser thread
Wow...I have to say that I am very encouraged by what I heard. Also, did you guys know that Shanny has veto power in terms of personnel decisions, a privilege that DS has never given other head coaches?
|
Re: Shanahan presser thread
shanny is the man he is not going to put up with the bull..............i cant wait to see what he does to players like portis now he cant run to danny everytime he has a problem.

I know some still don't want to believe it, but yeah he's given up his power. |
