McNabb's pocket presence is off the charts compared to Campbell. And even when he gets hit, which was often today, he's much more solid with the ball. The blind side hit that he took late would have been a sure fumble with Campbell at QB.

Plus a BIG shout out to Laron. I was one of the vocal critics last year, and he is definitely playing the best strong safety that I've seen this year. He's an intimidator and a difference maker for our D.

And all it took was a defensive coordinator that knew how to play him to his strengths. Who knew?

Seriously though Greg Blache is a good defensive coordinator, but I'd bet he'd be an even better defensive coordinator if he played players' to their strengths. Landry at FS is a weakness, but now that he's being used right he's finally living up to his billing as the sixth overall pick.

How about our scary wrecking-ball defense? Perhaps they need a nickname - they keep knocking everyone out of games, and this is at least part of the reason we keep winning! Although we didn't knock him out - if Clay Matthews stays in the game, we lose this game.

Dallas: Demarcus Ware
Houston: Andre Johnson (he came back)
St. Louis: Steven Jackson
Philly: Vick, McCoy, and Samuel
GB: Finley, Lee, Matthews, and Rodgers

If I was Peyton, I wouldn't want to meet Mr. Landry in the backfield next week.. ;)

I agree with all that has been said. Wanted to mention London Fletcher--he's adjusted well, I think, to the 3-4. He's a great leader. And LOVED that sack with Alexander.

Another positive: we're actually capitalizing on other team's poor play. The Pack made lots of errors, sure. But we made them pay. That's something new around here!

you my friend hit the nail on the head imo. the best positive to take away from this team is how physical we are playing on both side of the ball. it is really awesome to see a REDSKINS team reaking havoc on the rest of the nfl.

and did anyone happen to notice the play where landry caught the int? it was jarmon who blew that play up big time and nailed rodgers which cause the turnover. it was nice to see him out on the field

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

I was at the game, sitting in Section 119 with a slew of Packers fans (damn the season ticket holders who sell to the opponents' fans). And the big positive was those fans leaving after the Landry INT with their tails between their legs.

Right before Crosby lined up his field goal try from the left hash towards the end of the 3rd quarter, I whispered to my buddy that Crosby's gonna push it wide right. He said why do you say that? I said, his previous 2 hits were from the right hash, and the wind was blowing from left to right. He looked at me and shook his head when he missed. The Packers fans sitting in front of us did the same thing.

Orakpo came up big, as did Landry. The defense as a unit in the 4th and OT was incredible. Trent Williams coming back in during OT with a hurt knee (I thought he blew it out the way he laid on the turf), knowing damn well that him at 50% is better than Heyer at 400%. The Mighty Midget Brandon Banks is awesome to watch in person. Santana made his presence felt, and McNabb's improvisation is a warm welcome over Campbell's indecisiveness.

How did this game rate on your live expiriences? I can only imagine how great it must have been to watch this one live. From watching at home- How loud was the stadium on Defense after the Dmac - Armstrong TD connection? It sounded like the loudest I have ever heard FedEx while watching it on TV.

Not to speak for CRedskinsRule, but I was at the game as well. The 1st 3 quarters, it was dead. Heard many more "Go Pack Go" chants and Packers fans than you did Skins fans. My buddy and I kept yelling Go Back Home in response. For the most part, the Packers fans were civil and the Skins fans reacted likewise. Once McNabb hit Armstrong for the TD, FedEx got loud and pretty much stayed loud the rest of the way. The only time I sat down during that span was during the OT coin toss. Definitely a great game to be at, and the weather made it that much more worthwhile.

I hope the FO gives Landry a contract extension before the final year of his contract.

Question for the salary cap experts: With this being an uncapped year, would giving Landry an extension now, and counting the bonus as a roster bonus be a valid way to front load the contract while minimizing cap impact in future years? I believe that a signing bonus gets prorated over the length of the contract while a roster bonus applies to just that season. Is this correct?

This is a different Redskin team from the past two years. They have a little swagger and no let up. I'm seeing improvement in every phase of the game. I gave the game ball to Landry because his play set up the game winning field goal. I like to send out a special condolence to Haynesworth and his family for the loss of his brother.

Maybe you should have watched the end of the Oak. game before posting this. He came in and lead them to a win.

As for the skins I think I'd give out a team ball to everyone who played. I kept tellin my wife as ugly as it looks we are not out of this game. Finally we get one of these wins.

We now have a real coach and a real quarterback who make a real difference. I thought for sure we were going to lose that game yesterday. But this team is different - it doesn't get intimidated and it doesn't give up.

For the sake of my health, I'd like them to win at least one game this year where I don't feel like I'm having a heart attack.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

The talk of the town radio.... is this a good team or not?

Great team no, but a good team yes. I said prior to the season we were a better team then 4-12 and two more wins proves that in my opinion. I felt this team would go 9-7 and possibly 10-6. Do I think they will go far in the playoffs? most likely not but if they did it would only supprise me a little because this team is a team that battles. Teams that battle are already tested teams and find ways to win those games.

The Rams game threw off my 9-7 record and the team would need to win a game I did not expect them to win and they did. Obviously injuries can change anything but I still feel this team is better then an 8-8 team player wise. Our problems the last 2 yrs was Cerrato, coaching, and scheme. All that has been changed and no I'm not predicting us to make it to the SB or win it (even though I'd like to), but I foresee a winning record and that alone gets me excited for the next 2 yrs.

This team is on the right track. It seems like it's slow sometimes but happening. Dallas was predicted to go to the SB and we beat them. Now after seeing them 1-3 I'm not sure thats a great feet other then the fact we have bragging rights now but we did play Houston well whome I thought would be the other SB team. Green Bay I figured to be contending for the SB and we held them to 13 points. I figured we would be run over by their high powered offense.

I think the defense is better then stats and record shows. Yes it's a work in progress and hopefully they improve weekly.

That's about right. After we got the first fumble, and the offense went backwards 20+ yds and punted, the stadium screen was saying get loud, and it seemed out of place. I got in line at concessions right before half and when Moss caught that pass you could tell people wanted to shout, but at the same time, were hesitant waiting for the other shoe to fall. But the 4th quarter, and after Armstrong's catch, the place really exploded and came alive. I did see a Skins fan around me leave when GB lined up for their kick, but overall, the stadium was going crazy at the end.

It certainly ranked up there for me, right along with one I saw with my brother at a Dallas game, where we whooped 'em.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

Awesome.

The best game I attended was Dec. 24th, 2005. The game against the Giants after we beat the tar out of the Cowboys the week before. Santan Moss had like 160 yards and 2 touches in the endzone I was sitting in.

The other was the Bears game after Sean died.

I have not been to a whole lot. About 10 since 05. 05 was my biggest year as I got to see 3.

It seems to me that in the Dallas game and then this one, it seems as though FedEx has come alive at times and is finally giving us a home field advantage again.

Hard to argue that. He was really good. Dropped another pick, but it was still a very solid pass defensed. We're doing well at limiting big plays from explosive receivers in recent weeks.

Laron and Rak were pretty darn good too.

GTripp0012 10-11-2010 11:57 AM

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

Carlos' ascencion back to top-level defensive back has been a bit quiet. Whereas Landry's ascension has been right in the forefront of those studying our defense (all offensive NFL coaches) which is why he's going to the pro bowl this year.

Landry = Troy Polamalu without any ability to cover in the deep field. Which bites, because he plays safety.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

Speaking of Carlos he had another potential INT bounce off him. That one yesterday hit him square in the chest.

It's comical at this point.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

I was impressed with the way this team stayed in this game. In year's past, I think we all know this game would have been an L.

One major gripe, though, on the deep ball to Santana, that eventually lead to the FG, why does he not even try to stay in bounds? He's 2 steps behind the nearest defend and just lets his momentum carry him out of bounds. I'm not saying he could have stayed in or would have scored, but he made no attempt at all. It irritated me a little bit.
Speaking of Carlos he had another potential INT bounce off him. That one yesterday hit him square in the chest.

It's comical at this point.
Yeah. Wouldn't even consider that one a drop because of his body position. I do find it comical that Rogers ends up defensing more passes with his chest than most corners do with their hands in an entire season.

Still, he already has two flat drops on the year of balls that hit him in the hands. If he keeps blanketing star receivers, that number could reach 10 or 11 by the end of the year.

Re: Redskins vs. Packers - POSITIVES!!

Rogers and Hall are very quitely putting together a good season at the corner position. They shut down Philly's duo last week and had another solid outing yesterday. Forget the Dallas game, but I don't remember any of their wideouts going wild either.
