Re: How far can Beck take us?
love the optimism. So, thats with rabach, hicks and sevish capers as 3 of our starting lineman, right?
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
10 to 6 int's a game?
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
I'd say Beck 8-8 at best
Rex maybe 8-8 Clemens 1-15 Tom Brady 12-4 |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
I find it difficult to believe that Clemens will our only QB addition.
I suspect a trade for Orton: Haynesworth for Orton! Or a Vince Young arrival in Ashburn. |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
Haynsworth for a starting caliber QB.
:yeahright |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
We're getting to 10-6 with Rex
Resigning Grossman is no longer a part of the plan? |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
Who said it wasn't?

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Rex Grossman is our quarterback...He deserves another chance, he led a team to the super bowl for crisssakes! In like 22 career starts he was already in the super bowl only quarterback I know to do that quicker is Tom Brady. He had two 300 yard passing games last season with Moss and Armstrong the only reliable targets as Cooley was dropping passes in the Jags game. Rex Grossman makes people around him better look at his career record. Gunslinging Grossman!

Grossman didnt lead anything. That was all defense. |

Question!! |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
We protect Rex and continue progressing with the running game and Grossman will put up attractive numbers....All this Vince Young Kyle Orton talk is a pure waste of time, Grossman is better than both them clowns... Put some playmakers around Rex and he'll maximize the talent around him with his anticipation. We should have tried to get Jake Locker imo, but I've liked Grossman since he came out of college and he deserves a chance to lead this team.
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
All defense? Grossman led a game winning drive against the former NFC Champion Seahawks in the playoffs, and just look at Bernard Berrian's numbers when he played with Rex throwing him the football, way better. The defense allowed 200 yards rushing to the COLTS, the whole team played bad in that game, and again, Grossman did lead the Bears to the super bowl.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Question!!
I know. I answered the question with a question. Yes, he's still part of the plans but not the first priority right now |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
Probably because we already went down that road once giving up a 2nd/4th rounder for a QB "who was proven" only to find out it was a huge mistake. Normally when you get fleeced, bamboozled like that, you generally don't do it again. It's called "learning". However, if you want to keep up the same practices of pissing away our future draft picks for the next sure thing to "win now", then I suggest we pull that trigger. Vinny Cerrato surely would have.
Now, I understand exactly why this franchise was wrecked for over a decade. Our owner is exactly like our fans.
Horseshit, Orton is way younger and we wouldn't have to give up as much. If colb goes to arizona, we may be able to get Orton for next to nothing. I'm not saying give up our whole draft, but we should atleast be exploring the opportunity. |

Since he's younger, we'd probably have to give up more Anyhow, it's basically a moot point. Orton looks like he's headed to Miami for a couple of high draft picks, or one and a player |

Re: How far can Beck take us?
apparently Orton was the number 1 QB available
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
QB is only 1 of the Skins problems. This team has too many holes to be much of a contender.
Seriously. We are another two years of being 6-10 in my opinion. We have very few long term pieces in place on either side of the ball. |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
We're not going 6-10 for another 2 years. I think the D will be vastly improved this year and we'll be more consistent on offense.
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
6-10---8-8
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
To be honest I will take 6 to 8 wins (though hoping for more obviously) over the next two years as long as we start seeing some young exciting talent on this team! Think Beck will start this year and do ok not great not terrible, we will then draft a QB next year (not Luck as he will go #1) and then Beck will start next year as well. In 2013 we will hopefully have a good young QB behind center who has had a year to sit and learn the offense and our D should be nicely gelled by then. So Beck probably cant get us back into contention but hopefully he can be the bridge until we get there.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Even the packers had holes last year (OLB stands out IMO). You can have a couple of holes and still be a contender. Look at the colts, their team is junk without Manning. A good qb can take a team with a few holes far. If we get a WR, an interior lineman, a right tackle, get cullen jenkins, and resign buchanon we have enough pieces to be contenders if our qb can perform at a high enough level. Cullen, buchanon, the right tackle are all locks IMO. This is a completely hypothetical situational question. IF we fill enough holes, how far can Beck take us?
I read the question as its stated, how far can Beck take us, I didnt see where it said or implied if lots of holes are filled how far can Beck take us. You are correct, every team does have holes but the Skins have as many holes as a piece of Swiss cheese. This team isnt going anywhere. This is a 8-8 team at best. |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
Not very far.
|
Re: How far can Beck take us?
I think how we start determines everything. Should we come out to a start 2-2, 3-1, I think we can be a legitimate team, especially within the division where dallas is falling apart, and new york suffers perpetual collapses. 1-3, 0-4, and im in favor of officially designating it a rebuilding year. Theres no sense in going 8-8 when the one piece you really need in Andrew Luck, or more likely, Landry Jones, is going to be available around the 10th pick.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
2013 will be the start of NFL's next dynasty. We'll be the 1970s Steelers and 1980s 49ers of the new millennium. :D
3 SB wins in 5 years. Hey, this thread needed a wild prediction. |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
Puff, puff, pass ... Puff, puff, pass. I'll take a hit of that! Cough, cough, ... Man, John Beck is going to lead the Skins to the Superbowl.
Pass the duce on the left hand side :) |
Re: How far can Beck take us?
If nothing else, John Beck can at least drive our team rep to the airport to fly to New York to select our franchise qb of the future at the NFL draft. He's gotta be good for something.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Man, this Beck guy is hilarious. He has all the confidence in the world that's for sure. Let's hope he can show us more than "the best that he can" because that probably won't be good enough in the NFL.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
With Beck or Grossman we are about a .500 team, max this year...and that's ok.. Seriously, take a look at our roster from January 2010 vs. our roster today. Shanny is setting things up, assuming this draft & FA crop develops to be a 'plug in the QB' roster away from competing. It's hilarious how people are acting like we just gave Beck a 5 year-$65 million extension.. He's basically on a 1 year deal, Clemens is on a 1 year deal, Rex will likely sign no more than a 2 year deal.. We aren't locked into anything. Beck is clearly a stopgap and if he performs, great. If not, the rest of the team develops while we bring in a rookie or vet next year.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
It's really funny how, after years of bitching about spending money on self-entitled jerkwards who come in and are totally lazy bastards, who put no work and no effort into being the best, we finally found a guy who is a self-starter, who is motivated, who's working his ass off to make the football team and be a good player...and people shit on him.
The vitriol towards Beck is effing ridiculous. What the hell is everyone's problem with the guy? That he has the balls and the belief that he can be a starting quarterback? "HAR HAR HAR, WHAT A LOSER! He wants to come to our team and is motivated to put in the time and effort that Donovan McNabb and Jason Campbell wouldn't to be a starting quarterback! What a maroon! What a jerk! Can't wait until we bench this guy and bring in another quarterback yet another football team didn't want! Because giving up draft picks and a signing a guy monster contract to a guy worked so well the first friggin time!" What ungrateful pricks this fanbase must be, to crap on a dude who's only crime against them has been he has the audacity to believe he can be a starting quarterback. To ignore every circumstance of his time in the NFL and judge him based on four games his rookie year. Let him earn the friggin' job, or completely suck balls, before we sit around talking about what a failure he is. It's starting to disgusting how so called fans of this team and the media at large are pretty much picking on the dude and ragging on him ever chance they get. He's easily more motivated to be the best quarterback he can be than ANY of the Redskins starters since friggin' Mark Rypien. |

I'm firmly on the Beck bandwagon. Hey why not, we tried the big name approach last year and it was a fail. We've got nothing to lose.

At the very least he deserves a chance. For a franchise that has been playing the QB shuffle for the last 20 years, we shouldn't be discounting anyone. |

He certainly will when he recks the train full of his bandwagoners in the preseason while Rex flys Redskin One into a 500 season. |
