@ByMikeJones · 1h Ron Rivera said yesterday that he was encouraged by improved vaccination rates on WFT. Source says now 84% of WFT players have received at least one vaccination shot. They opened camp at around 60% JP Finlay @JPFinlayNBCS · 3h Good news here Quote Tweet Rhiannon Walker @InstantRHIplay · 3h Cornelius Lucas has rejoined the offensive linemen on the side
Nice…..that is good news. |
Re: Coronavirus (sports edition) thread
This is a good point that frankly I hadn't considered. I think if anything it will be worse once we get down to 53, meaning the guys who are still unvaccinated as of today are probably the ones who feel comfortable that they'll make the 53.
Despite what Ron says, if I'm a bottom of the roster guy and I'm scrapping and clawing to try to make the 53 or the practice squad, I'm not going to give them a reason to cut me and I'll go get vaccinated. But if I make $4M and I'm definitely on the 53 no matter what, I might be more inclined to stand on my personal principles.
Does anyone know whether the practice squad is counted once the season begins? 84% of 90 would be 14 players unvaccinated. If all 14 are on the 53, which does make sense like Schneed points out here, then we are at about 73.6%. But if practice squad counts we are at 79.7% or 4 more players vaxxed to meet the 85%. |

Good math, agree that if it counts, and if all the unvaccinated are making either the team or the practice squad, then they'd need 4 more to get to the 85%. |

Re: Coronavirus (sports edition) thread
Another Covid issue is the international games. The teams playing outside the US are going to have to have their ducks in a row, and players will have to be vaccinated to travel to England. My mom just got told she couldn't get on a plane to come back to the US because she needed an updated test result. ( she is vaccinated and was only in Germany for 3 weeks)
What a mess that could be. |

Really surprised nobody here is discussing Ron's latest response to the vaccine deniers on this squad. It's from the latest MMQB, where you can read a big interview with coach here: https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/08/16/mmqb-ron-rivera-covid-vaccines-joe-burrow-brandon-staley |

Period. |

I don't think he's referring to individuals who are hesitant to get it, those who do not want to get it, or those who are advised not to get it - for various reasons. |

You're putting way too much analysis into something I didn't put that much thought into. You're real quick to defend those with legitimate concerns about the vaccine, when in reality we both know he's referring to those who get their news from entertainment companies. The ones who lead every statement on tv with "I'm not a doctor and have no credentials, but the vaccine seems very suspect to me." The ones who trust their friends on social media, but not their personal doctors. Is that more concise? |

I just wasn't sure what you meant by vaccine denier, and thought you might be pointing the finger at the wrong set of people. You're right though, I am willing to "defend" those with legitimate concerns about the vaccine; but I'm equally willing to defend those with legitimate concerns about others not getting the vaccine. I actually respect both decisions. |

Sounds like he's taking the issue almost personally. Hope to see WFT and the league's vaccination rate continue to rise. |

Falcons are 1st team to 100%. Impressive team effort. I'm still for people making their own choices, but that being said, their season will be easier than every other team, unless other teams get there too. |

Ok. I didn't say they couldn't. |
