Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread

I don't think Campbell looked any more comfortable than he did on last Thursday, but he succeeded for two main reasons:

1) We exploited a key matchup in the Saints secondary over and over again.

2) The offensive line dominated the entire game.

It's amazing what we can accomplish when we dominate up front and Campbell has time to pick them to pieces. It wasn't just in that fourth quarter either. The OL dominated the ENTIRE game. Campbell just found his rhythm around the fourth quarter.
Not much game tape on Horton. He's going to have a big day, the only question is whether it will be good or bad. Let's hope for a shockingly great performance and we will be asking whether he should replace Doughty next week.
Not to brag but I think I called it before the game started. Somehow you could just fell that horton would have a good game. Of course a lot of it was due to tip balls. I'll have to watch again to see how he did on coverage and running plays.

True, it's a team effort and often we get too focused on just the QB.

Good Shit! Never a doubt in my mind :)

But really, it should have never been this close.

A lot to work on in practice this coming week, I would think...and in the classroom (coach)

I'm still mad. Stupid AFN (Armed Forces Network) didn't broadcast the game here in Japan. I was listening to it on-line though, last I saw we were down 9 points and i had to go to work. This will make my morning go great, even though it's a Monday.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread

Really disagree on the playcalling. We were moving the ball well early we just were blowing it in the redzone. The difference in the 2nd half was we cashed in and didn't blow scoring chances.

you are right redskins guru .but in the 1st half, the play calling was pretty lame.who cares?hell,we won!

He can't read the D, he's not smart enough, he locks on to one receiver, put in Colt.....:blah:

It's one game, but Zorn, JC, and the entire offense took steps forward today. Great day for Skins fans. Great day for those who told the knee-jerk crowd to be patient.

My question is, do we give Derrick Frost a call this week?

Horton was on the other end of all 3 of the Saints turnovers...if he's not the starter from here on out I'll just be at a loss of words

That was a huge win. Lots of good stuff to build on. Lots to improve. Durant Brooks better step up or he might get fired. TheOline did a very nice job today against a strong dline.

Not unless Green Bay cuts him, even then I would say no.

Ok, WOW! JC threw his entire arm to a WIDE OPEN Mantana Sauce, against a ROOKIE CB. If he didn't make that throw, we'd be chastising him. Let's not crown him a pro bowler, just yet. Jesus... "great day for knee jerk.... blah blah" he's gonna blow it next week. Mark my words.

ChillWill 09-14-2008 04:57 PM

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread

Let's also give that offensive line some credit especially Stephon Heyer. For the most part JC had plenty time to throw.

ummm did you miss all the other passes he completed?

No one is crowning him a pro bowler yet, but your comment is not really valid considering it was his performance throughout the game that was impressive not just that one pass.

From what I heard, we played good football. Now that the Offense knows what they can, I'm sure we won't have too many more 4+ FG attempts a game. I'm glad I had SS on my Fantasy team this week.

Oh I forgot that was the only pass he threw the whole day. Are you a redskins fan? If not why are you wishing for him to blow it next week after a good performance..2 words..Hi :hater:

JC audibled to that play, it was a good read and great throw. Many on this site (not you, so I'm wondering where this is coming from) have implied JC "lacks the intelligence" to be an NFL QB, that he "can't read the defense", and bash him everytime he throws an incompletion it seems. Others of us have been saying be patient with him, he's got the tools and he IS progressing. That's where my post is coming from.

I'm not crowning him a pro-bowler, but he showed he is progressing. He's gonna blow it next week....against the Cards????? First off, why would you say that if you're a fan, second off chances are your dead-wrong.

Hey Matty, I just saw on the highlights where Derrick Frost let a snap go thru his hands for a safety. He'll be on the street soon. But you are right, we will give him a pass but Durant is starting to look like a Frost immitator on punts.

JC audibled to that play, avoided a sack, stepped up into the pocket and threw a 67 yard TD. To imply that was a "gimme TD" is simply wrong. Moreover, JC threw for over 300 yards, a TD, no INTs or fumbles, and completed nearly 70% of his throws. Tough to complain or whine about JC today.

I can't say that we missed Marcus Washington today either. Mr. Blades looked pretty effective today.
