Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
I have a good feeling about this game. Yesterday I was at Byrd Stadium and saw my Terps take care of a top 25 team that everyone thought was going to destroy us. I have the feeling the Redskins are going to show up for this game and take care of the Saints. I don't care if it kills my FFL team. GO SKINS!!

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
According to Redskins Kickoff Reed Doughty is out with a stomach virus and Marcus Washington will be inactive.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
Kareem Moore will be inactive as well. So we're down to three safeties, maybe we will see Shawn Springs play safety some today.

Reed Doughty is out? Our chances of winning just improved.

So Blades and Horton get their first starts then. Let's see how they hold up

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
Yup, I'm sure Drew Brees is afraid of a rookie Safety.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
Against one of the more dangerous offenses in the league too. I'm not feeling good about that but we'll see.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
Per Redskins Insider:
The following Redskins are inactive due to injury: S Reed Doughty has the stomach flu and is out. LB Marcus Washington (hamstring/hip) S Kareem Moore (knee) LB Khary Campbell (thigh) Healthy scratches are: OL Chad Rinehart, OL Jason Fabini, DE Rob Jackson So, WR Malcolm Kelly makes his NFL debut. Skins are very short at safety. Reed Doughty out with illness (stomach flu) and Kareem Moore still out recovering from his knee problems. So they have just Landry, Hamilton and Horton up. That's it. And two of those guys have very little experience at all, and Landry is just a second year guy who missed the entire preseason with a hamstring injury. Horton will start in Doughty's place. Against this passing attack that's huge and I would not be surprised to see Shawn Springs play some safety. Horton is strictly a strong-side guy for now. They are also very short at LB again, with Washington and Campbell out. That leaves just Albert Fincher as a backup at all three positions, and he's a teams guy for now, really. I expect a lot of nickel coverage. Blades will start for Marcus Washington. So they are losing lots of talent on special teams and in the back end. That's scary against the Saints. So the Skins have one reserve safety and one reserve LB active. That's it. Saints Inactives: WR Marques Colston CB Randall Gay LB Scott Fujita RB Aaron Stecker CB Mike McKenzie S Roman Harper T Jermon Bushrod DT Antwan Lake The Saints are also beat up on D, without a starting corner, safety and LB. Their secondary was an area of concern already, so maybe we see some downfield fireworks. |

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
I love Marcus Washington but he's 30+ and just can't stay healthy for any extended period of time. Seems like his hip and hammy's are always acting up. I really like Rocky and HB as young guys, but this is why I was screaming for LB depth prior to the draft, during the draft, and often since then.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
It is so hot out here in Landover, this game will be won by the team that can stay hydrated. Look for a lot of cramping.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
Not that Doughty sets the world on fire, but I guarantee you that Brees and Payton are licking their chops with a rookie in there.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints game thread
I hate to call out a particular player but this guy is the obvious weak link in our back end. The fact is Brees will go deep regardless of whos in at SS. I was being sarcastic when I said our chances improved with RD out.
