Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
I just figured you were all about contract extensions for the whole staff. Whether or not that will happen, continuity, man!
But seriously the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
when is the last time we traded so much to move up to draft our franchise qb? do we keep doing that over and over? |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
I think the problem is that Skins fans are finicky, "what have you done for me lately" types. I think Kyle's play calls range between brain dead and genius levels and they fluctuate.
While I'm not crazy about many of the series he calls, I think he does a formidable job trying to call plays that match RG3s skills and keeping other teams off guard. Unfortunately, this isn't Madden and every play call isn't always going to net yards. I think we could be doing a lot worse. That said, after seeing RG3 run a 2 minute drill with no play-calls from the coach, why not let him "Peyton Manning" a couple series a game? Too soon in his NFL carreer for that? Bad idea?
Exactly. It would be a good idea. |

What? This isn't a trade Griffin thread. This is about addressing proven issues. |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Well A) it wasn't no play calls from the coach. He did get a few calls in and B) even that is kind of scripted. Every week the team practices two minute drills and practices RG3 not having his headset working and they have various scenarios set up.
This isn't to take anything away from RG3 on that drive. It was outstanding. But they were well prepared for that |

been in every game outside of yesterday's, i'll take those results w a rookie qb |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
The season results say otherwise.
It's a real problem for the Shanny believers. (I don't say apologists anymore because they don't like it.) Going into the season the story was "Well we've spent plenty of treasure on defense through FA and some draft and lots on WR, now we have our QB and should see a nearly complete, competitive team." Now the defense is garbage, so evidently all the FA signings were a waste. Some are now saying the WR corp wasn't ever supposed to be complete and we'll draft/sign more next year. In politics, I believe it's called the bait and switch. It's the story of Shanny's career since John hung up his jersey. |

I think we need help in the secondary, otherwise I think our bigger issue is we need our guys healthy and continuing to develop. And Haslett's lost the locker room |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
if haslett has lost the locker room, i say send him packing right now (serious)
and promote chris foerster to dc, naturally (not serious) |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Not a bad guess actually, makes a lot of sense. But not actually one of the teams I know to have been mentioned
My best guess is Andy Reid going to San Diego |

And Haslett's lost the locker room
whattttt, thats pretty bad. Kinda heard through Keim article that certain guys in the secondary didnt like playing certain coverages at certain times ie. Hall last year and Wilson this year and were complaining. Kinda surprised to hear he's lost the locker room, id like to hear what Fletcher would say to that. |
