The Seahawks are not going to cut Matt Hasselback. I would wager $500 he'll be a Seahawk for a few more years. They have nobody that can step in and play QB and if this team doesn't win Hawks fans will go the way of the dodo. They're a fickle bunch up here and their management isn't going to mess with what's working out of fear of losing the fan base. I expect them to draft a QB in April though.

Of course if his back is total shit, he'll be shit-canned quickly.

We don't know the severity of his injury...if he's healthy he's a Seahawk for the foreseeable future. I'm not betting on a broken man but if he is healthy and you want to take that bet I'm down.

That is the only way it would make sense for me. But I don't think Matt would accept that at this point in his career and by the time he would, we should'nt need him. This scenario is the only way I could see it happening.

If you sign Hasselback then it's "may the best man win." The job has to be earned and at this point it's time for JC to grow up and be a baller or pack his bags. The offense ain't new after one year. Throwing the football is throwing the football and reading defenses is reading defenses. There's no magic o it. No more baby sitting, he has to earn his keep.

I think he would be a great mentor for JC but I really can't see him wanting to be the back up somewhere especially knowing that he's the best QB on the team (well atleast in a win now situation). It would help speed up JC's development to have a proven or quality QB mentoring him

Mentor for JC? Sorry Matty, but I think JC has been around long enough not to need a mentor. And if he does still need a mentor after being a starter for 2 full seasons, then you have to ask the question is JC a bona fide starting QB? To me, if JC flounders or does not show progression in '09 his butt is gone. Statwise, with the exception of the TD/INT ratio, he is just above Gus Frerotte level, and unfortuantely as much as I liked Gus back in the day, he never really made a progression either.

A mentor in this offense certainly wouldn't hurt. Although it's probably a year too late.

I agree 100%. They're not cutting him. No way. He's still a pretty good Qb that has taken a team to the SB. He was hurt last year and his line sucks. If they cut him who's gonna play QB? Seneca Wallace? Actually Wallace comes in and plays well but he's not a 16 game starter. Hassleback isn't going anywhere.
