Re: Skins Signed Randle El
when Moss came here no one, including him, could have predicted those numbers. He got a pretty fair deal when he arived. I am sure it will be addressed in the future but i don't think he is going to have a big problem this up comming year. If moss pulls another season like last year why would we have a problem locking him up for a while? That is a big if, for all we know the numbers could be pretty well spread out.

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
thats 1 season. we are not talking about a guy that has had an incredibly productive carreer and as a result has a big ego (In Santana). Plus, we need to take the double teams off him...i think he'll take not having the double teams over "i want the biggest contract so i can get 2 catches a game cause they are double teaming me"
If nothing had been done at the WR spot Moss would have be coverd by the D's best if not doubled! So the big winner is Moss with EL and Lloyd coming on board. The next big winner is Portis so that CB and S have to stay back. Not keying run only! Next a big winner is Burnell because he has all kind of weapons but comes with pressure to now get the job done. Last Al has never with KC had this kind of fire power. One more winner all of us!!!!! |

lol...u wanna bet santana's gonna be mad? fat chance.....but its good u have such a vivid imagination

I don't see a problem this year. You don't think Drew Rosenhaus will try to capitalize on that? You are right, I am in fantasyland on that one... |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
WOW!!!! Dude our WR corps just went to like possibly the best in the league. Randel El brings SOOO much more to the table too. KR/PR (see ya Antonio, that way we can keep Thrash), and someone who can run the Pass/Pass we used to run with Gardner. Man this is HUGE!

Lol. Gardner. Good ol' 50/50 |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Randle El is the only other guy out there who could effectively run the wide receiver screen close to the way Moss does. Add to this the fact that he will be trying to make, the not the first, but the 3RD CORNER MISS!!! Moss had to fo it against the opposing teams best corner.
How can you prepare for this offense now? Did I mention we already have a pretty good running game? |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Actually, what has me more excited is what this will do for the running game. With this many deep threats, do you think teams can afford to pull the safeties up to the line? They can't even cheat to one side of the field or the other. Look at what Saunders' system did for a relatively small back with Priest Holmes in KC. Portis is going to have so much real estate to run through that he may press a 2,000 yard season this year. Of course that is contingent upon a solid O-Line.

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
The signing bonus is important but I didn't hear what it was gonna be for either of them. Also how long does the signing get to be prorated out with the new CBA?
5 years this year, 6 years next year, 5 years after that.
My initial feeling is that they have overpaid for both. How do you pay them more than Moss?
new cba, inflation... generally there's a 5% increase per year, but the new cba makes it even higher. the skins are smart here. sign guys long term and then if they break out you got them playing at or below value for a LONG time. since they're going after guys of reasonable quality, getting a bust is much much less likey. you pay lloyd cause he can be the jump ball guy in the redzone and could possibly put up #1 numbers. you pay randle cause he can be a #4 qb, he's your primary KR/PR and a good receiver. my guess is brown, thrash and jacobs are all nuked. that saves twice as much money as cutting patten. there's NO reason to ever cut quality depth, especially when its not that expensive. If i made the depth chart now, randle would actually be the #4, him and patten are close in receiving talent, though obviously randle is more can do mroe than just catch. |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Do you know him personally?
If you set a team's receiving record you should be the highest paid guy and in today's nfl, agents use circumstances like this to help themselves and their client.
he signed a deal. everyone comes to the skins looking for money and he got above market at the time... then he went apeshit on the field. at the time it was a good deal for moss who willingly signed. the skins were smart to lock him up for 7 years. the skins don't add money to current deals. when they made an exception for lavar, it was just to shut him up, and obviouly he never saw that money. |

right now the colts and rams are better, cinncy and arizona are close. BUT we got 3 good WRs 26 or under, unlike the colts or rams. |

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
moss isn't going to be pissed... i originally felt his contract after the trade was more than fair, especially considering he hadn't produced much yet. the team correctly invested in moss.
lloyd and ARE are both young and it's the same thinking we had with the moss contract- invest now (at a seemingly high price), but reap the benefits should the risk pan out later (where you retain your WR corp in their prime at a below-market cost). |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
The "fun bunch" or "the smurfs"? I'm sure this crew will make a name for themselves. I can't wait for the new season!! :dallas:

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
wooo hoo yea boy. Any combination those three with their speed and quickness will make defensive coordinators shiver. The field is going to look twice as big for DB's when we line-up in three wide reciever sets.
Not to mention teams won't be able to double team moss and load up the box to stop portis without paying dire consequences. We could have a very explosive offensive year next year, if everyone works hard in camp. |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Players don't hold out?
maybe if they're making close to vet min like portis or walker when the put up 1500 yard seasons. he could hold out, but i believe the skins would hard line, and right now there's depth so it wouldn't hurt nearly as much as if we had no one else. Plus holdouts tend to lose fan favor very quickly. |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
To me, the best part is that these guys all seem to fight for the ball. Yeah, they drop a couple, but what I mean is when the ball is in the air, they are going after it. In other words, not Jacobs.

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
ESPN says Randle El will be our number 2 receiver... Obviously that is presumptious but I wonder how Lloyd is feeling right about now? How did Dan sell this to Randle El, I remember reading in one of his interviews that it was important that he be a team's #2 receiver...

he sold it by saying "i'll give you 31 MILLION dollars". |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
I'm sure Lloyd feels fine, since he's finally on a winner. Wasting away in San Francisco or winning in Washington?!?! Hmmm He's going to be a major contributor too. I'm sure it's not a problem.

Well, yeah, there's always that... I mean that with us just signing Lloyd and with El wanting to be a #2, do you think he guaranteed that specific spot on the depth chart? Obviously Gibbs would have to make that call and I doubt he would do that without seeing both guys in training camp. |

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Big plays all over the place. What team has enough depth and speed to cover Moss, Randle El, Lloyd, Cooley, and now Portis out of the backfield on a screen since Suanders uses his backs in the passing game. Whoever the QB is should have alot of options.
|
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Yea I agree with Skinsforlife. Mad crazy options! Im so pumped for camp. Hey by the way what ever happened to that draft clock? Isn't it colse enough now to have up?

Randle El PC @ 2pm Tomorrow Lloyd @ 4 pm Watch'em

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
My depth chart:
1. Moss 2. Lloyd 3. Randle-el 4. Patten 5. Thrash |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Randle El and Lloyd might both get more total touches then they got last season no matter who is #2 or #3. Moss and Cooley will find alot more open space with these two on the field with them. Add Portis out of the back field...wow. Brunnell, Campbell and Saunders must feel like it is Christmas morning. I know I do.
Thank you Mr. Gibbs, thank you Mr Snyder. |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
i really think thrash may be gone before the season. they might like him, but it might also be more useful to get a couple younger guys that could stick around longer.
he is a team guy and a good punt coverage guy though. |

Patten is the one I'm more concerned about because if he's going to be like the 4th or 5th receiver he's going to have to play teams, and I'm not so sure he's up to playing ST. |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Glad to see we got Randle El. I do think its imperative to keep Patten. Thrash should be gone with the addition of Randle El as should Jacobs and Antonio Brown. Honestly I thought he'd be too expensive and he was... But I trust Gibbs and the organization. Can't wait til SB XLI!!!

Re: Skins Signed Randle El
McCants didn't stick as a 4th reciever because he couldn't play special teams.
Wonder if that says anything about Patten's future here? |
Re: Skins Signed Randle El
Honestly, with this type of talent I don't think there's going to be a true #1. I bet there will be plays written up specifically for each player. And if that player isn't open, we can only hope that Brunell throws to who IS open.
