Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
Yeah. I can only imagine. I usually post over on the ESPN Skins board. But Skins fans everywhere are tired of the losing. You know it's bad when it's a bye week and you're still scared your team might lose!
I've given up on the defense this year & am placing all blame from here out on Kyle and the offense. For as horrid as the secondary is, they've actually held teams under 30 points. Can't win any games scoring under 20 points as we've done in the past two outings. Griffin, Morrison & surprisingly the O-line have out performed expectations. But, IMO, this week is put up or shut for Kyle, Robinson, Cooley, Morgan, Helu & Hankerson.
Wait.. What can Helu do on the IR? Lol |
Redskins 127
Eagles -2
How's that happen, rookie Foles runs onto the field while we're on offense, takes a handoff from RGIII and steps out of the back of the wrong end zone? Hey...rookie mistake. Shake it off, kid. |

True.....lol

Seems like everytime we play the birds i find myself driving deep into iggles territory for work. I dont think they like the sticker on my back window as much as i do. Even though they are all saying im number one in the rear view mirror?

Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
Because they're playing with a second string QB, we'll be able to hold the Eagles to under 30. If Merriweather plays and plays well, we could realistically expect to hold the Eagles to under 25 (which is saying a lot, since we can't realistically expect to hold any team under 30). That being said, Garcon is unlikely to play. And if he does play, he is unlikely to play at full strength, so I doubt he'll be able to really make a dent in an offense that the league has more or less figured out.

Put him down 'roughly', right? 'Put' would suggest gently placing him on the turf. That would disappoint me. |
Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
Skins win.
I always figure we will split the division against the other rivals, at the beginning of the year I thought we would beat Dallas twice now I'm at about 50/50 that happens. However the Eagles are another story. I was worried about them at the beginning of the season, now not so much.
You may want to reconsider that line of thinking. Skins are 19-42 against the division since 2002. In fact, the Skins are significantly better against non-divisional foes (49-59 in that time). I've made the point before that this is an indication of apathy among the players, as the difference between those numbers shows that the Skins don't step it up against rivals (to which I was accused of looking too much into statistics...) That being said, because this is a divisional game, the Redskins are far more likely to lose. |

Interesting piece of information from SmootSmack's arch nemesis Adam Schefter:
"Redskins have lost 8 straight games vs. rookie starting QBs, the longest streak since merger in 1970, via Elias Sports Bureau." |
Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
There are so many painful stats against us.
Well, we broke the home losing streak at 8 this season...lets kill this one too. |

Well, we broke the home losing streak at 8 this season...lets kill this one too.
Let's just hope that the painful stats this week are Philly's -- like 3 INTs (1 pick 6), held to less than 50 yrds rushing, and we light them up like a f_ing Christmas tree and send them into an early offseason. There's so much to hate in the NFC East, right? The Eagles and their fans are insufferable, the Giants fans are nearly as bad (beyond just the gloating, although there's a ton of that), and Dallas is clearly the root of all evil (led by Emperor Palpatin -- seriously, has anyone taken a picture of Jerry Jones and the Emperor together? Put a hood on JJ and you'd never tell the difference.) I really don't get the sense that any other division involves these kinds of rivalries, with the exception of the AFC North -- the Steelers/Ravens/Bengals hatred is pretty real). |

I'm not worried about a thing. This 8 game streak doesn't mean squat. If a defense can topple a veteran then it can topple a rookie. |

Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
We are still on pace to set a record for the most yards ever given up by a defense....
I think Philly will win. Even with Foles at QB, i just don't think our defense can pressure him enough, even though he is a rookie. This team just isn't playing well right now. I love this team, and I love RG3, but i look at our upcoming schedule and the way we've been playing, i see us winning only one more game, and that's the Cleveland game, and that's even debatable. I still think if Shanahan loses out he will be fired. Dan Snyder is going to go back to his old ways sooner or later, he thinks in his mind that "doing things the right way" have not panned out (3 seasons worth), so he will go back to big spending, firing, hiring, etc... |

At least as long as he kept BA and didn't do a Zorn rerun. I think alot would have to do with the coach he hired. |
Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
I have no idea how to feel about this game. The Eagles are clearly up to their necks in dirt right now, but our team has never been the type to bury anyone. We always seem to be that last divot of grass doomed teams manage to cling to right before the earth swallows them whole.
From what I can tell from all the reports and blogs I've been reading, the bye week looks to have been a therapeutic one. Everyone's apparently healthier, and players and coaches alike all sound and appear rejuvenated and more motivated than ever. But we've all been burned by this type of lip service before. Personally, I'm keeping my reservations. I may not know what to expect out of this game, but I sure as heck know what I want -- a statement! This Sunday's game shouldn't be a contest, it should be a funeral! If they want to change their fortunes, they should start by changing perceptions. GRAB YOUR SHOVELS AND BURY PHILLY!!!! Eagles 28 Redskins 59 This score look familiar to anyone? |

I don't think that Dan Snyder would necessarily go back to his old ways if he were to fire Mike Shanahan. Surely, he's learned better by now (I hope). If Shanahan were to lose out, I would expect him to be fired. That would mean ten straight losses to end the season and an overall 3-13 record in year three of his tenure. That would probably be unacceptable to any owner. That said, I can't imagine Mike Shanahan and this team losing ten straight games. On the other hand, the Carolina game was declared a "must win" by Shanahan and we lost it. Now, the upcoming Eagles game is supposed to be the beginning of a revival for this team. The Eagles come in to our stadium with a raw rookie QB and a depleted OL. We should win. But if we lose this game and then lose again at Dallas on Thursday, I think it's remotely possible that the Skins could go into a free fall. |
Re: Redskins v/s Eagles Predictions
I'm not sure Snyder would fire Shanahan no matter what happens. For publicity sake of both men, I think Shanahan would agree to step down. I think it would take a worst case scenario for that to happen though. And I don't see us losing out.
