Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
I like the Woodyard guy from Denver. Now that they did not DQ, my gues is they will make a push to sign him.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
Woodyard would be a great signing.

Real good news on Riley, welcome back! |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
I hope this is correct info that we sign Riley . We didn't need 2 new ILB to learn the scheme.

K. Robinson better of been taking mental reps on the sideline. |

Redskins | Perry Riley agrees to terms
Mon, 10 Mar 2014 19:01:33 -0700 The Washington Redskins and free-agent LB Perry Riley (Redskins) agreed to terms Monday, March 10. The terms of the deal are undisclosed. Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
We will see, Keenan Robinson would be a great addition to our special teams. I don't think we need to go into the season with Riley and Robinson as the starters unless Robinson beats out a quality FA signee.
Hell if he can cover a TE play him. We need an ILB who can cover. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
I assume they will draft an ILB

I'll be stunned if it's more than $3.5 million per year. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
Let's get Dansby now on the other side. Still has a couple productive years left...

The fact that he signed before free agency even opened tells me he wasn't getting the kind of interest that he wanted, so it's likely a deal that's more on the team friendly side. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
3 yrs, $13 mil for Riley. Slightly more than 4 per yesr on avg but need to see the guarantee before gauging cap impact.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
Definitely a good deal. He was originally seeking about $7 million a year so I'm glad he came back to Earth.

What!?!!!! We are screwed that deal just made Griffen a FA at the end of his rookie contract! |

Not bad. I feel like that's a good deal for an average starter. |

especially entering his prime who knows the defense and will be giving the calls for unit. Its important to have some continuety in that role, he interned under Fletch and been under Haz for his career. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
So, in the last two years we have retained: D. Young, P. Riley, C. Baker, L. Paulsen, N. Sundberg, and Aldrick Robinson.
In addition, from the 2011 draft class, players likely to make to their third year are: Kerrigan, Jenkins, Hankerson, Helu, Paul, Robinson, M. Hurt and C. Nield (Already cut or not likely to be back: Gomes, Royster, B. Thompson, Markus White). On top of that, the UFA classes from the last few years led to only one stinker that comes to my mind: Josh Morgan. Not bad guys. Not bad. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
This new regime HAS drafted very well! I hope more of it had to do with Allen then Shanahan so the successes on draft days continue.
At least we can thank Mike for Alfred Morris. His stay wasn't a total disaster. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
If only Hankerson would be consistent, he has made some great catches in spurts. Maybe he will be a late bloomer and become a solid started in another year or two. Just hope he isnt the next Devin Thomas.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
Almost included J. Wilson - but he played out his contract, wasn't paid a boat load of money and provided decent play with occasional lapses at a starting CB spot. We got what we paid for out of him - probably more. We signed him as a CB 2 and that's what we, mostly, got out of him. He wasn't a stellar "Wow" signing, but have a hard time saying he was a stinker.
While he wasn't great, Wilson made some solid plays for us over the last 3 years. Not really sure the same can be said of Morgan who never even came close to what he was supposed to be - a reliable, well paid, No.2 WR. |

To truley gauge the effectviness of former FA classes you have to go back and see who else was signed at that postion and generally same $$$ and how they have perform over the same period of time. I agree with you BA and company have done well but Wilson was a stinker too. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
He got exposed b/c he was on the field all the time. Not something that could be said about Morgan.
As for the comparison class: WalterFootball.com: 2011 NFL Free Agents - Cornerbacks That was the year of Nnamdi ... nice "no-sign". Even in hind-sight, not a lot of options better at his price. We were losing Rogers and got a cheap starting CB. Again, we got what we paid for. Not sure what our cap was like that year, but pretty sure we weren't signing big money contracts needed to get the CBs that out played him from that class (Joseph). |

He has no skill. He just happens to be in the right place at the right time. Morgan and Wilson are garbage. |

Hahaha. I really don't think anyone hates Wilson as much as I do. Just seeing his name invokes feelings of hate and rage. Like a dog with rabies. Man, I really need to get that checked out. |

Moss re-signed for 1 year.
https://twitter.com/ProFootballTalk/status/443476320375554048 I like it if cheap. He CAN still make big plays on 3rd and 4th down, and in the red zone. Not a full-time player any more but he's still useful. |

Anyword on Britt and Penn visits?
|
Re: Redskins Free Agent Re-Signings
I have no idea why anyone would want Britt. And Penn is washed up. I'd address those needs in the draft and pass on these two.
