Then again Rak and Carriker may come back and restore the pass rush. Why do we need a punter? Is he not going to heal from the injury?
Any reason to assume Garcon will not return to normal?
Paulsen has proven to be a nice addition
Any reason to think Fred will not be back?
Depth at Olin may be an issue....then again
That basically leaves D secondary.....
I didnt think the passrush was strong with them playing. No reason to think that davis, garcon , or aussie wont heal - jus sayin they have too.

He made some pretty awesome catches during pre-season. Not ready to write off Briscoe yet. Maybe as he plays more he'll get more looks and more opportunities to prove himself. Else he has the Brandon Branks syndrome; great in pre-season, lemon in the regular season.

He has one reception - four targets - I know one was a bad bad drop - also I am thinking he is not so sure handed in practice or he would be seeing the field more?

edit: just for the record - I thought this guy was gonna be a real steal from Tampa - led them in TD passes last year - only 6 i think, but still led the team. But when he did finally sniff the field he kind of wet the bed.

You're right man, it wasn't significantly better. We didn't get a whole lot of pressure on Brees, mostly he and the WR weren't on the same page for their opener.

^^ Brilliant observations. Your comments really add new insight into the discussion and provide a perspective not yet considered. Overall, a strong post.

See? I can do insulting sarcasm also.

because we all know judging a QB by is rookie season is a great idea. peyton manning was 3-13. they should have fired everyone. instead they didn't, went 13-3 and made the playoffs. what insane moronic clueless idiots. If only they had someone like you to show them the way.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

Is there anything else to discuss on this? We had the poll and the moronic sycophants overwhelmingly voiced their opinion.

We get it. MS hasn't won a playoff game in forever, the defense sucks and we're not improving. MS hasn't done anything right and all our limited success is attributable entirely to RGIII.

You're points have been made, again ... and again ... and again.

Respectfully, I, and others more insightful than myself, disagree. Mike came in saying it was a five year plan and he needed the entire five years. He inherited a old, talented team with no depth. The players he cut are, for the most part, not in football. The last two years we have built depth and, more significantly, changed the culture of Redskins park. Shanahan has not won but is setting the franchise up to win for the long term and, for the long term, it stunk beyond belief when he took over. He needs to start winning but he doesn't need the playoff this year. Further, this year, he has created/adapted an offense that emphasizes the strengths of RGIII allowing him to succeed in ways he would not have been able to if he had been thrown straight into a "traditional" drop back offense.

I know you (Goat, GTripp, and Devie) will never agree that this warrants additional time, and, frankly - given your arrogance and complete disrespect for the intelligence of those who disagree with you, I don't care. Pat yourselves on the back and tell yourselves how brilliant you are - all seven of you.

This thread is degeneratng redundtant rehashing of the same points. Perhaps it is time to shut it down.

Were younger, the team stunk, winning isnt everything, RG-3 is great, two more years. Your points and others more ingenious than us short sighted wanna be fans who have it out for MS are equally as redundant. In case you havent noticed. Im sure they will gain redundancy over the coming 24 months. It takes two to tango JS. Both sides keep posting the same stuff. Just because you point out that the haters keep doing so and than implore the court for the last word doesnt mean that MS will start to win football games though. Btw if he loses to Carolina this week you better have one hell of a pep talk/ declaration of Shanapendance written for all the haters. I mean it had better really drive home all the aforementioned things that we have to be happy about. You know the list, but just to be redundant - younger- better qb- CLOSER to actually winning- just not winning - no vinny - etc.

The 'closer to actually winning' gets me every time.

If we make a big move in the coaching staff, then I might start to see the light at the end of tunnel.

punch it in 10-31-2012 09:41 AM

I see a light with Griff. Thats for sure. I consider myself neutral really on the Shanny issue. I tend to come to the defense of the doubters simply because last time I checked wins and losses are what its all about. I can see the big picture and pick up on arguments from both sides. But the recent run with Shanny - going back 13 years with one playoff win really outweighs what he inherited in DC imo. If he had success elsewhere and just decided on a change of scenery or a new "project" and wanted a big paycheck from Snyder than I would completely be in the "he is on the rite track" train. But its hard to overlook how and why it ended for him in Denver.
