Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
Good point. But we knew that as soon as JZ was handed the keys. Mission 1 from day 1 for him has been to grow and tudor JC like he did Hasselback.

Welcome to the board Tony420. That is exactly why he was brought here. I think that is Zorns strongpoint. I would be very disappointed if there is not more offensive success this year. Count me as one who thinks there will be. |
Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
The fact that we are talking about hiring or firing a head coach after one full season. tells me that this is a dysfunctional organization. Last off-season, the Redskins had the opportunity to hire a head coach and no one, that was qualified, wanted the job. They originally hired Zorn as offensive coordinator, a job he had never held, and then turned around and made him head coach. This organization needs to settle down and develop an operational plan and stick to it. Change is not always good.

It tells me we have dysfunctional fans. :) |
Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
Yeah I think we need to make the distinction that it's the fans chattering about a potential coaching change. It's not coming from the organization.

I think it's fans guessing what the organization will do. If JZ doesn't make the playoffs I think that he'll be fired. Doesn't mean i agree or disagree about it. I'm all for a plan and sticking to it. |

Just to be clear, there have been no press releases or leaks by Snyder intimates saying that this is Zorn's last chance. It is not the organization that is dysfunctional, it is us fans who want it all plus whatever else we can get. Like any employee I am sure Zorn's job performance will, and should, be critiqued, but any speculation on the web like this is simply us fans ranting on about our thoughts and beliefs. Do I think if Zorn stinks up the joint he will be fired - Certainly, but the only examples of DS just randomly firing someone was Marty (some use Norv, but he was not a DS hire and had lots of reasons for being fired). And we all know Marty was fired cuz he wanted more say in personnel and FO stuff. JZ is not going to be asking for that anytime soon, but all the other names you hear bandied about have sought that. |

Ok, I guess I could have said ditto to 53Fan and Matty, but I started typing, and then work got in the way of me finishing, so I didn't know I was just duplicating...
I agree with Matty and 53Fan :) |
Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
Zorn should just focus on coaching this team, the rest will take care of itself.

Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
Build on last season. Offense has to score more points. Red Zone Offense improves.

I' don't agree with this but the only way Zorn will remain as Head Coach is if he wins the NFC EAST, goes 12 and 4, or goes to the Super Bowl. Too many big name coaches out there for next year and Mr. Snyder and Jerry Jones will have a bidding war for the next coach.....no doubt DS and VC saw this as a big possibility when they hired Zorn, of course hoping Zorn would somehow get the SKins to the |

Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
Jason Campbell and the offense must show significant progress. If they don't, I would anticipate another season out of the playoffs, with The Danny looking for a new coach.

That's what it comes down to, and I suspect that's what Zorn is doing. If the team does well, we'll have a solid HC and QB for a long time. Great sig SFREDSKIN. :laughing- |
Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
1) Zorn keeps his gig
HOWEVER, to be successful, he needs to: Win 10 games.............2 of which will be stompin' the goffin shit outta' dallas=good season |

The magnitude of the early season win there last year made the 6-2 start all that much sweeter. This year we may have locked up a playoff spot while they are changing their headcoach before we even play our first game! Ah well guess that means we will have to beat the giants in game 1 just to give some early excitement, |
Re: What must Jim Zorn accomplish this season to keep his job?
JZ and JC are tied together. If JC plays good and the Skins improve the JZ keeps his job. IF JC plays his typical style and the Skins look like the same old team then JZ goes. Unfortunately IMO, JZ's fate rests with the performance of JC.
If Campbell plays his typical self and only throws 6 ints all season, Zorn and the Redskins will be in great shape. The WR must not drop as many passes as they did last year and the oline needs to hold up. He threw all 6 late in the season when the oline was battered and Campbell was under pressure. |

Not throwing ints is important for a QB but he also needs to throw TD as well and JC only threw 13 TDs (as many as JaMarcus Russell). In today's NFL that just doesnt cut it. |
