The funny thing is I don't feel like those of us who see the Shanahan era for what it really is are ahead of the curve so to speak. The results are so obvious, the poor coaching so flagrant, I think this is a rare phenomenon where you have people becoming fans of a person over a team. Sort of like a cult of personality in political/historical terms.
But there's plenty of mystery to go around. Mike shows nothing on or off the field to engender, let alone deserve, a cult of personality. What I'm really starting to wonder is if the cult mentality exists outside TWP, or if most fans elsewhere are seeing things clearly already? It's tough for me to gauge cuz there just aren't a lot of Skins fans out west.
I am a fan of MS always have been and I loved the hire but this team isn't getting any better year by year. Jim Zorn even won 8 games one year |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Do the Shanahan's coaching or his staff for that matter strike fear or even worry the opponent?
|
This team doesn't even look interested in games, also we r leading the league in penalties?

Zorn never had 6 quality starters out due to injury either. That's a lot of production gone. |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
I've said it before but i really strongly feel that Shanahan could get fired if the skins lose out. 3-13 even with a franchise QB won't save him.
Every game cannot come down to being a shootout. Our defense just can't stop anybody. Opponents can run, pass, it doesn't matter. Our offense is finally respectable but I don't think anyone can respect the skins as long as ou defense is this bad. Unless somehow the defense is changed and starts playing well, I don't see us winning very many games, and I still believe we finish between 3 and 6 wins solely because of the horrible defense.
The defense is consistently bad, but the change to watch for is in the offense. I suspected RG3 would buy Mike and Kyle a little extra time this season before every opposing defense knew what we would do before we did. Looks like I was mistaken and the Shanahans are cooked at about the half-way point, not significantly different than the previous two years. |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
You win as a team, you lose as a team. Re-evaluate at the end of the season, especially our defensive coordinator. I am hesitant to say fire Mike S, bc then you are under a new system and philosophy and that takes time to set in.

Season's over.

The option works but not every play and that's what we are doing, teams are starting to realize we have no weapons

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
I am not sold on baby boy Kyle. He should be seriously evaluated at the end of the season.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
With Mike coaching or in the FO this franchise will never produce a competitive team. In fact, I don't think Mike will ever have a winning season as HC again.
We are arguably the worst coached team in pro football. It's so sad and disappointing to see the talent we have go to waste week in week out.
Agree 100%. Shanny and the whole pathetic crew are gone after the season. |

Zorn sadly team played more motivated. We r losing because we have poor coaching in every category and a poor FO.YES SHANNY NEEDS TO BE FIRED HE lookes clueless out there and the team since week 2 hasnt looked mptivated. Keey off season is fire the whole staff hire a new GM hand pick his coach my advice? How about the ND coach ....worked for the49ers maybe it will work for us. Why is it the colts-miami-rams with a year one coach are doing better than us?. People need to wake up shanny is done and we should be by now at worst a 8-8 team. Shanny shown us he is overrated eve. Gibbs who was out for 15 yrs of footbal got us back into the playoffs past his prime. Fire shanny he just got here for the money. |
Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
I do not want Mike to go at the end of this year but today's loss was awful. It's not so much that we lost, it's the way we lost. I was reading that Sean Payton might be a free agent coach next year. If he is then if I were Snyder I would seriously think about trying to get him in here. This team has no personality, no swagger, no identity, it can't make adjustments...just nothing. I feel Sean Payton would give us some of those things.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?
Ok I was unsure yesterdaybut that was enough for me.
I'm ready for Hazlettmedown and Kyle and his dad to get booted at the end of the season. |
