Are we a playoff team? Sure, we could be in it.

Before the year started I thought we'd end up 9-7.

Having seen the D this year, I have upped it to 10-6, which shuld get us a wild card spot.

We could even win that game (especially if we play the leader of the NFC east).

After that, it is anybody's guess.

Are we still rebuilding? Yes, but we are further along than I thought we'd be, given we have a QB who is still within his first 16 games of starts.
The offense looked absolutely dreadful, but who cares when the defense is winning tight games? Right now, you can't say we are not a playoff caliber team unless you can name 6 NFC clubs that are better.
We are not a playoff caliber team right now. Our O-Line is decimated by injury and our coaching staff cannot make halftime adjustments, on both sides of the ball (which I don't understand this problem because Gibbs 1.0 was the master of halftime adjustments). Portis doesn't have any explosiveness, we do not have any physical threats at WR, (including Moss because he's not 100%) and Campbell will still make some young QB mistakes.

I can't name six better teams, but I can name the 4 probable division winners and two wildcard teams that are better: Dallas, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Seattle, then NY Giants & Carolina as wildcards. I don't believe Green Bay or Seattle are better, but someone has to win the NFC North and West.

Here's how I see the rest of the season: Should be Wins: BUF & NYJ, Probable Losses: NE, Tampa Bay (in Tampa), Dallas (at Dallas), NYG (in NY, we haven't won there in the last 3 years). Could go either way: CHI, PHI, MIN, Dallas (at home). So before the games going either way we are 6 - 6, if we split we're 8 - 8 and that's not getting us in. If we are 9 - 7 we might slip in, but it would only be if CAR or TB tank the rest of the season.

Our defense makes us a playoff contender

It is a start. I hope my thoughts are wrong and we go 12-4. I just can't drink the Kool-aid though(Great picture Matty).

Ehhh?
Well I agree with Brian! 2nd half calling was suspect as usual.

I look at it like this....if our line gets healthier, and our D can keep us in the really tough games (like next week)...anythings possible...look at how bad Chicago's offense was the 2nd half last year!

Re: Are a we playoff team?

We SHOULD be a playoff team. So many weapons on offense with a very good QB to run it, and a phenomenal D. But the offense needs to get it together. We need to throw more and get WRs involved. We just have to. Our lack of ability to sustain drives consistently really bothers me, especially in the second half. Something has to change offensively for us to be any kind of playoff threat.

Season is not over so I dont know yet but the NFC East will have 3 playoff teams again.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

My heart says yes, but my gut isn't so sure. I think that them being 4-2 is a big deal and it's great, however, this team having lost 2 games that they dominated is a bad sign. In my opinion, this team should be 6-0, they've outplayed teams for all but about 1 half of football this season. The fact that they're 4-2 is actually a bad sign to me, but with a winning record and what I would say are about 8 "winnable" games left on the schedule I'm encouraged so far.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

No. We are not a playoff team. Playoff teams get a good lead and keep it that way. Playoff teams can muster more than 200 yards of total offense. The sad thing is though, because of our conference I think we will make the playoffs. We probably won't get past the divisional round but we should make the playoffs.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

160 total yards? We didn't "win" today, we escaped with a win...sorta like GB did against us but in even uglier fashion.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

We aren't looking like we did at the start of the season. Since Green Bay, Campbell hasn't been the same. I don't know what to say other that no. There's too many quality teams. This is my look at who akes the play-offs now:

1.Dallas
2.Green Bay
3.Tampa Bay
4. Seattle
5.NY Giants
6.Carolina???

on second thought maybe we do have a chance!

Re: Are a we playoff team?

we are competing so I guess we could be considered a playoff team, there is much room for improvement however.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

With our O line beat to hell and with CP being held to 70-80 yards a game with JC not even getting 100 yards passing, do you think we are a playoff team? And this was one of the weaker opponents on our schedule. We are going to get beat up against NE and NY. We might be able to beat the Jets on defense alone and a half decent game from the offense, but it will be a physical matchup, one that we might not be able to come through unscathed, meaning more injuries. WE are not a playoff team as of now, but it can change. Every remaining opponent is tough, even lowly Buffalo can be tough. The D can't be expected to keep us in every game if it is on the field for 40 minutes every game. Today's perfromance was ridiculous plain and simple.
