Absolutely. |
Re: Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman
I liked Vick but always felt he was a 1 man show. I know the team had a lot of talent but it seemed that it either never jelled or something. Rumor was he was not a pocket passer type. So the coach's always found a way to roll him out, similar to the run and shoot. Warren Moon ring a bell? Then someone decided it was time to prove the pundits wrong and try to make him a pocket passer. Sometimes he looked good sometimes he looked like his old self running for his life and making a decent pass in between.
I think that by losing Vick the team actually was forced to work as a team and it showed as they made the play offs with their 1st yr coach and Rookie QB. The team has talent I just don't think they utilized all of it under Vick. |
What is the difference then an X gang member working with kids to keep them out of trouble then MV doing stuff with PETA. It is very common for people to do stuff like this after getting out of jail.
The difference as I see it is this. The Gangbanger likely has little to gain monetarily by doing good will and more likely is generated from the heart. The same cannot be said for MV where there is a great deal of $$$$ involved, and he MUST have public approval to get there. MV, more than likely would not be doing all this feel good stuff without the $$$ involved |
Re: Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman
Vick needs to think about this before he comes back:
Both him and Marcus will be eligible for the hall the same year right now! LOL |
Re: Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman
I just don't see why everyone thinks he can't play the QB position. He goes to jail and I guess he loses his QB abilities? Yes he could play RB he could return some kicks, yes he can catch the football. But he plays QB so much better. Thats the only thing that confuses me about a lot of opinions on this.

Well, considering his QB abilities were worst in the league, or close to worst, why do you think he all of sudden becomes a good qb after being in prison? Why also do people think that he still has his speed / illusiveness that made people THINK he was a good qb in the first place? |

Yes. His greatest ability was his speed. People get slower as they get older and he's lost 2 years while in jail. Besides, he could not have been practicing and working out at a high level. The NFL is very competitive, it requires year-round work, and no one can expect to take 2 years off and still be at the same level. And, sadly for him, his level in the passing game was already mediocre. |

Re: Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman
How did he have the worst QB abilities in the league? I highly doubt that he only has been to multiple pro bowls and almost took the falcons to the Superbowl yea he is a bad QB sorry

But you actually think he has sat on his ass and not done anything to help his body out? OK I've heard so much on how is passing is whatever who gives a shit he still can win ball games he has proven that on so many occasions. He is a playmaker who cares how he gets it done. Throw all the statistics you want about how bad he is at passing who cares he still can win. |
Re: Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman
You seem to use the word playmaker synonymously to the way I would use the word underachiever, but I'll grant that in Vick's younger days, he was athletic enough to take a 3 win team to a 7 win team by himself.
It didn't take very long for NFL defenses to figure out that if you keep him behind his big guys in the backfield, he's not very useful.
Well I only use that word with a few QB's....McNabb, Ben R. and Vick. And I only use that word when people like you bring up every stat know to man kind in order to prove whether or not certain players are any good or not. And you're incorrect on the 7 win analogy.. he helped take a 3 win team and helped turn them into a playoff team. |

W/out question they're better off with Matt Ryan. |

I don't understand your position. Vick is a quality qb and a playmaker that should start in the league. But the team that was built for and around him is better off with a second year qb? If he has the talent to be a playmaker, then Atlanta should be his best chance. Everywhere else he is being patched in to overcome another qb's deficiencies. (the Falcons are only 1 year removed from Vick, so they have not changed their player structure that much) |
Re: Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman
Point was, he was not coming into his own. The stats don't lie man.
You bring up Ben R. and McNabb. Two Vicks don't equal 1 of either of them. To show passing stats is not pointless...it shows his lack of skills as a QB. I said it before, and I'll say it again, Vick is a faster Kordell Stewart. He's not worthy of being under center unless he's going to run the ball every time.
As a pure pocket passer yes he was not coming into his own and he may never have. But that doesn't mean he wasn't an effective QB. When you total in his rushing yards, the pressure he puts on a defense, the way he makes rushers stay in their lanes, the way he tires out a defense from chasing him around, having to have an extra guy stay home and spy on him.....all these things really don't show up on passing stats but if you went around and asked NFL defensive players and coordinators they'd tell you he was a pretty effective player, pretty tough to defend but not a polished pocket guy. To say he's a faster Kordell may bit accurate but saying he's not worthy of being under center is just silly. We'll agree to disagree.. |

atlanta is better suited with a passing qb, they were trying to make vick become more of a passing qb but it was not working. ryan is a great passer, therefor, a better fit for the falcons offense. |
