I just love how Campbell was a the problem in DC and the answer in Oakland
Different contexts. Campbell is a good but not great starter. So: a) if you are trying to become respectable (Oakland), he's a good option b) if you are trying to win big (Washington), he's less attractive |
Re: Good for Campbell
I don't see all the hate on JC. He wasn't a bad QB he was a middle of the road QB across the statistics board. He wasn't going to excel with this system and the horrendous o-line we had (have?).
|
Re: Good for Campbell
^ O line will be much improved this season. Williams is a monster LT and jamal brown is a very good RT. Add Artis hicks and we are much better if we stay healthy.
|
Re: Good for Campbell
Boy did people really think JC was that horrible last season? I mean really there is only like 3 qbs that I could think of who would actually play good behind that mediocre line from last year. People seem to think o-line was never the problem last year and that JC was. I remember the 2nd Dallas game last year they sent a 3 man rush that completely overwhelmed our line in about 1 1/2 seconds and had JC on his back in about 3 seconds.
Oakland, while not having a great line, has a damn better line and their skill position players are young and upcoming. I could easily see him having a good season over there. |
Re: Good for Campbell
The great thing about it is, we'll have our answers in a month or two!
Still, it can't be stressed enough to people who are blinded by their JC17 hate: the dude was QB15-17 material while he was here and that wasn't good enough. He's going to a club whose last "franchise" QB weighed more than some of our linemen and flunked himself out of the league with a sizzurp and candy bar addiction. Let that sink in for a second. QB15 is a MASSIVE improvement for a lot of teams. Whether he can improve and actually rise up to QB10-12 is another matter entirely. |
you guys may want to tread lightly with all this anti jc talk. I get blasted something serious whenever i speak the truth,...or at least my truth about that guy. Buuuuuuut who knows maybe some of you all were going on me for saying he was a bum. But hey, give him a shot.
Seriously though, i don't give a hell what he does out there. He should've done it here, but he never got a shot though right guys ???? Bum ass farger !!!!
exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Good for Campbell
Can anyone please tell me why everyone is on the JC bandwagon ? ESPN always talked down on Jason but when he leaves D.C, the guy becomes the Raiders savior??? LOL
Maybe you should have been paying closer attention, the "media" was pretty split on Campbell. Some thought Campbell was a victim here others thought he was as much as fault for our struggles as anyone else. It wasn't just one big dump on JC. Lotus made a strong point as well. |

a) if you are trying to become respectable (Oakland), he's a good option b) if you are trying to win big (Washington), he's less attractive
And THERE'S the difference, he's a decent QB option in the NFL and it's been a while since you could say that about the Raiders QB position. At the end of the day, in an easier division, I think Jason could make them a playoff team if the Chargers have a rough season (not saying it will be this year, but in the future). I'm happy for the guy getting a fresh start, I hope it works out for him. Al Davis equating him to Jim Plunkett isn't going to help him out much, though...wtf? First DHB = Lofton/Rice/Brown, now Jason = Plunkett? |
Re: Good for Campbell
After watching a little of the Raiders preseason game I am happy we got Jason out of here. His long balls were off and he got sacked holding the ball too long... good riddance!

Lets give him a few more games to be honest, but YES. What i saw even in that limited time looked like the same old Jason... |
Re: Good for Campbell
Apparently, their two rookie O-linemen are a work in progress.

Re: Good for Campbell
He's the same guy. Even though I hated him here because of my own reasons I thought that he had changed his game. But I really hope that he fails, he continues to bitch about what happened when he was here. People took up for him saying that he never talked bad about anyone but would lay his O-Line out in the media all the time. Only in a nice way so you felt sorry for him but after watching him you can see that he misses guys deep pretty much every single time. He'll look good for Oakland but until he does the little things to take that next step he'll always be alright and nothing more. Once he can complete deep balls on a regular basis then defenses will have to respect his deep ball which would allow him to kill folks underneath. Until then, he'll always sit there and say that he's working hard, and trying to get comfortable in the offense.
He's what I've been saying that he is, you all will eventually come around but look forward to him having a radio show on some station in this area. Where guys will call and tell him how great he was and how good he could've been and how they feel like he got a raw deal and all that ish. Oh have I said I'm glad he's gone ? I am! |
Re: Good for Campbell
I've never heard him complain or talk badly about the Skins...during or after his stay. He's been very classy in his departure.
Also, what O-line? He didn't have one last season and doesn't have much of one in Oakland if last night is how this year will go for them. |
Re: Good for Campbell
Campbell always bitches about what happened here? I don't remember that
