Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Random question which has an assumptive answer but not a known answer as of now; What if Robert Griffin says he doesn't want to play for us?
I dont think that would be an issue with a high caracter person like Griffin. I mean where exactly would he wanna play if not here? We are a much better option then other QB needy teams like the Browns, Dolphins, and Jags. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
My question was more pertaining to the compensation in the trade than to the player. If Robert Griffin looked like Donovan McNabb for four years, I think he's pretty safely going to get that second contract.
But outside of "we'll take it", well, duh, we have no choice now. But would you have traded three firsts and a second to take a guy who ends up having Donovan McNabb's career, or would it have been better to keep the picks and see whats behind the mystery door that is the career of Ryan Tannehill, Nick Foles, Brock Osweiler, or Kirk Cousins? The point is, none of those guys (maybe Foles or Cousins, but I digress) is "likely" to enjoy a career like Donovan McNabb's career. Griffin's got a decent chance. At least that's the expectation. But would you cash in a multi-time pro bowl career for the chance to draft a guy who could do just as well or better, and still have three first round picks (or two firsts and a second, if Tannehill)? |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Yes, I'm tired of the mystery door.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Because obviously if Griffin ends up in the Hall of Fame, there wasn't a price that was too large to pay for that.
Yes, I'm tired of the mystery door.
Gotcha. That's fair, especially with the "decisions" we've seen Shanahan make at quarterback the last two years. No more guesswork, lets cash in now. I get that. A team with a good personnel guy gets much more value out of the picks. But the Redskins? They might very well get more out of Griffin. |

I would be happy for a few years of DMac in his prime. However, if that is what we get, we will not have gotten full value in the trade. But maybe we get more than just DMac in his prime. It will be interesting to see how this goes. But DMac is not the true yardstick since we can't draft him. The real question is, will the difference between Griffin and Tannehill be worth 2 #1's and a #2? For the sake of my mental health, I am just going to assume for now that Griffin will be A LOT better than Tannehill. Don't be surprised to hear me crow in a couple of years if this completely blind assumption proves wrong. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I don't see the ceiling of RGIII being Donovan McNabb. The way i see it he is more like Steve Young and if he can perform like Steve did under Shanahan then I will be completely okay with the trade.

Or he could save our team in the next three years and the discussion is moot. |

Do you feel like the current regime has done this...... |

RG3 is absolutely comparable to Young.
Our supporting cast isn't comparable to what Young had however. |

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Out of all the QBs I hear RGIII compared to, Steve Young is the one I would compare him to. A pocket passer who's legs give him the ability to make plays by passing on the run and by tucking it and running.
Comparing him to Vick, Young, Tebow, Cam is laughable at best(not sure if anybody has). I can't begin to state how happy I am knowing this guy is going to be a Redskin. |

They both have big arms as well./ RG3 is much more agile and quick though, and is much more of a pure passer than Cam, although Cam can definitely take more punishment. Im curious to see how Griffin throws into tight windows. If he can do that and make his reads, this guy is gonna get real good, real quick. |

True but when you compare teams, you'd think San Diego would be no problem for some QBs, but apparently New york is a better place to go... |
