Or Tennant the Center from Boston College who has been drawing comparisons to former Bronco's all pro center Tom Nalen, and also at the combine finished as a top performer for the 20 yd dash, 40 yd dash, and 3 cone drill. Hardesty has been drawing comparisons to portis, and hey we can always replace one portis for another. |
Re: 2010 Combine
Yeah I know.
But teams are definitely drooling over this guy right now mainly because of how he looks and his measurables. I just think you need to be careful and not overrate him is all. I mean who cares about his 40 time?
I just read a review on Bruce Campbell and basically what it said was this. "With his performance during the combine he's moving up the boards. He's athletic and a workout warrior. But....he has only started 17 games, misses a lot of blocks and doesn't possess a mean streak. Some coach is going to draft him in the first round thinking he can get him to perform up to his potential....and fail." I think this is where mistakes are made in the draft and I can see why. It's easy to fall in love with these guys because of their measurables, but that doesn't make them a football player. Your point is well taken Matty. BC could easily go either way. 17 games is not much to go on. |
Re: 2010 Combine
Damn ive been talkin about Hardesty for awhile. Said he looks like he would thrive in a zone blocking scheme since he's been accustomed to it. Plus he doesnt have alot of mileage on him because he was sharing carries until he was more the focal point his senior year. He was originally projected as a 4th round pick, but with teams like Houston and Seattle running Zone blocking schemes and their desperate need for a RB, i dont see how he can slip to the 4th with such a strong showing at the combine. Speed AND power. I hope, whether it be trading down or shippin out carlos rogers (cuz of signing Robinson), that we get a 3rd round pick back so we can take him with that pick. If we didnt need OLineman so bad i wouldnt mind takin him in the 2nd round but i think we pick too high in the 2nd for him. Agree?

By the way he performed yesterday, I dont know if he will be there by the time we pick in the 4th. He did a whole lot of good for his stock at the combine. As others have said it is encouraging that this RB class is deep, lets hope the one we pick up, if or when we do, can hold onto the ball. |

Not to sound gay but he has some incrediable legs. He does remind me of a full back type. There was a huge debate about Tebow on the NFL Netwrok between a few of the annoucers it got pretty heated. |

From those workout clips they keep showing it looks like his new motion is a lot quicker, he doesn't drop the ball down like he used to. Now whether he can be completely comfortable with the new motion and accurate in live action is yet to be seen. We'll find out at his pro day. |

We might work out a trade down which would give us an extra choice in the second and/or third, a choice which might be used on Hardesty. |

Bruce Allen had some good insights on the draft, and yes in case you all already didn't know we have interviewed Sam Bradford. |

Trading down is easier said than done. Thats why if we get Dunta Robinson we can get rid of rogers for a 2nd or 3rd pick hopefully. Its all speculation, 1000 things could happen. I would just like to see Hardesty in the Burgandy and Gold. Have Portis and him pounding the rock 15-20 times, tire out a defense then Alridge come in, change of pace, blow by defenders. That backfield would be MONEY! |

Yeah, Trade down is starting to become the new vet min, and since the vet min is practically dead without the salary cap you will start to see an influx of cries for us to trade down. Until a rookie pay scale is implemented it will be very difficult to trade down. Maybe we could do it, but it's doubtful that we could pull it off. |

Love the idea of Duanta Robinson, and the 2nd & 3rd for Rogers. As RB goes, i think that Ben Tate from Auburn is a great fit for this offense...One cut guy, a real bruiser, and hes got the speed to break the long run... he ran a (4.43 40yrds)and a 4.12 20yrd shuttle second best of all the backs |
Re: 2010 Combine
A lot of the Olinemen who are top 10 perfomers in the 3-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle are also all pretty big in terms of weight as well, Bruce Campbell being one of them. I have a feeling Shanahan may pick a couple from those lists in the draft.

Marshall Newhouse and Jared Veldheer could be redskins come april |
Re: 2010 Combine
I just want to make a prediction and say Derrick Morgan will be this years Brian Orakpo. A guy that should be the first DE taken but ends up getting leaped frogged by uber-athlete Piere-Paul.

Re: 2010 Combine
Taylor mays ran a 4.24 unofficial 40 yd dash, Eric Berry ran a 4.40, and Haden struggled with a 4.6. I don't know maybe Berry is the guy to get.

Mays's main "problem" was he isn't able to roam all over the field as FS.. Or at least that's what I read on NFL.com.. I have to believe, after Mays showed he can run.. Coaches would have to change their opinions on Mays.. Mays's other problem is covering the coverages, which is something that can be taught.. Edit: But yes, I agree with you.. Mays missed a direction change and wasn't able to locate a ball in the air. Mays 40 time is now offically listed a 4.4. Keep on thikning he would make a hell of a will. |

Hmm, if can Tebow really fixes himself up, I think we grab him, we will be grabbing the QB with the highest ceiling.(I don't follow college ball. Just sayin')

Please no. Might as well rename the secondary three blind mice in terms of int's if Mays comes here. Looks like Taylor plays like Landry (2009 version). |
