Niles Paul was one of them if I'm correct. I think Brandon Banks tried to hook up. I think LL/HTTR-24/7 can clarify the different players. I twas interesting to watch it unfold on twitter.
the question is, after they were warned by Daniels to avoid her, did Banks, Paul and others still contact this fake chick? |

I'm sure that the players were trying to get up with her prior to this. Once the excuses kept coming up as to why she couldn't meet or skype, I think they suspected something and had it investigated. That's probably when Daniels got involved. So I think they backed off once they started suspecting something. I knew she was a fake the moment I heard her on the HTTR-24/7 podcast. A person with the education that she claimed to have doesn't articulate like she did. This is one of those times where I sit back and laugh at all those dudes pumping her up because they thought she was a hot babe that liked the Redskins....lol Many up there rode her train while she tried to run down other people, and smear their names. Dumb broad never even got as much as a "follow" from me on twitter. I think this is relevant for the occassion. |

If Te'o is truly as innocent as he proclaims, then, he wouldnt have gone public with the relationship and made it a constant focus of interviews. Think about it, how many college/NFL players are so public with their REAL relationships? Not many. So why would Te'o be so public with what he supposedly beleived to be an online relationship with a real person? The only possible answer is that he wanted to use the relationship to get attention/sympathy/heisman votes/whatever. Te'o may have been innocently fooled by the girl. But his blatant lying (or exagerating, if you prefer) about the relationship to national media cannot be reconciled as "innocent." it was a calculated, self-serving move and he deserves every criticism thrown at him. |

You are making it sound like he asked to do an interview on tv about his girlfriend. Edit: remember by my belief he really thought she died and so he told people. Re: The Manti Te'o Dead Girlfriend Hoax Web of Lies
Just too many inconsistencies with Manti and his story. Just dont like the situation at all and at first I was all about drafting him if the stock dropped far enough for us. Now he's off my draft board, just cant trust him.

And the timeline of events indicated he continued publicaly perpetuating the hoax when he knew it was a lie. Te'o is either a liar, incredibly stupid, or both. Whatever the case, he's demonstrated poor decision making and he can't hide that from nfl teams. |

Do I believe it? Don't know him. People I've spoken to who are closest to Notre Dame and Te'o...most strongly imply that's the case. |

If what Smoot says is true, I'll eat some crow about being wrong in regards to him lying to cover up him being gay. Somebody up here called it and it would seemingly be dead on if its correct.

They stars are all aligned and pointing to him being gay. I have yet to see him in high school at prom with a girlfriend or anything like that. Usually all these big name athletes have a girl on their shoulder on a lot of different sport sites; Deadspin, Blacksportsonline, etc.

I dont think you need to eat any crow. Telling your teammates you have a girlfriend because youre gay is one thing, and somewhat understandable given fear of discrimination or physical/verbal abuse he'd likely suffer by other players at Notre Dame. Going on national television and making up elaborate stories, deameaning your own grandmothers death by telling the world your imaginary girlfriend/boyfriend died is another. If Teo wanted to stay in the closet, the best thing to do on national TV would be to not talk about the "relationship at all." If asked questions about "her," he should have responded that he didnt want to comment on it to respect "her" privacy. Also, if Te'o is gay, it would make him more complicit with the hoax, perhaps even making him involved in coming up with it to begin with. It would also mean that Te'o has continued to try to cover up one lie with another, instead of just coming clean a few weeks ago when it became evident the story would break. What im saying is, instead of saying the whole thing was a hoax played on him (which does not really stand up under scrutiny), he should have just come clean then and said he's gay. I think most NFL coaches/players would respect that, as opposed to continuing the lies and deceipt. |

First off, the guy has showed his phone records where he spent hours and hours talking to a person whom he thought was somebody else. He didn't make that up, he's not lying about his relationship with that person. What he could be lying about is telling people that it's a girl when in actuality it was a dude. It very well may have played out exactly how he said (with her/him dying) and he didn't know. It was also proven that he sent flowers to the address he thought was the person he was in a relationship with. Much of the stuff you guys have insinuated have been proven wrong with the evidence. (call logs/flowers/etc) Now, if you want to talk about why he lied from early December to now, is another matter. I think we all know good and well why he lied during that period. How often do we see scandals withheld until a big event passes by and then is released? You see it in politics and many other venues. (especially in the NFL) You don't think he was asked to lie by ND until after the championship? I sure as hell would be very good money that they did. |

Even if he was "duped", he still told things that were outright lies to national media throughout the relationship. I've said over and over, it's one thing to tell your friends you met a girl in person so they don't think you're a loser. It's another to go on national tv and tell that outright lie. It was stupid and showed poor judgement, qualities that every nfl coach will (and should) consider when deciding where to put him on their boards. |

It's also possible, but here's what I have to say to that. Tim tebow. Tebow is a virgin. He still gets photos with hot chicks and he never had to make up a fake girlfriend while at Florida. I just listened to the voice mails and I have to say it does sound like a girl, but the other question here is are these really old voice mails or recent ones that the teo family paid someone off to say. Someone on one of the sites said why are they doing excel sheets of phone convos when they can just look at phone bills. (I think this is a dud point). But what I really want to hear is this tuiasosopos voice and then him impersonating the girl. That would put a lot of closeur to this case in my book. |

I think a lot of you guys need to be eating some crow. I mean a lot. Dude has evidence to back up his story. This sounds like a chick to me, but I'm still going with the hoax was really about a boyfriend. He just used "girlfriend" to cover for his sexuality. Granted, this doesn't cover it from early December to when it was exposed, but I shared my thoughts about that. No way they were going to come out prior to the NC and make that the focus. |
Re: The Manti Te'o Dead Girlfriend Hoax Web of Lies
On a side note, if he is gay and went through all the trouble to make us think he's not, it's a sad reflection on our society. A famous professional (or non) athlete cannot proclaim he's gay because of close minded bigoted fans and players would shun or make fun of him. (especially fans)

Well in the Katie couric interview he said he was not gay. He also admitted to being a liar.

Is there anyway they can verify that the recording was done before December? Next think you know, his dad will come out and say he's met her...
It's hilarious. I've seen more people give OJ and Ray Lewis the benefit of the doubt than I have Te'o.....lol To everybody up here saying they wouldn't lie to the press, I call bullshit. It's easy to say what you would or would not do because you don't have the press prying into your everyday life (including your love life). You don't have countless of reporters asking you day in and day out what your favorite food is, who you are dating, and so on. Not sure why you all expect a teenager, who's most likely embarrassed, to come clean to the press over this prior to this being exposed. I've lied to people about stuff I was embarrassed about and I'm quite sure many of you have too. Now add the fact the national media is involved and not only will you have embarrassment from your peers, but the national public as well. **** no I wouldn't have told anybody I was dating a girl (or guy) that I met online and never have met. Most normal people would be embarrassed by that fact. I think what has been proven is that he was in a relationship with a person that he never met. I think it was also proven he spent a great deal of time with that person on the phone. It was also proven that he had some suspicions, but wasn't officially notified until the investigation in December. (by ND) I think it's quite clear he didn't invent this hoax to boost up his popularity, and I think it's also quite evident he lied to save himself from embarrassment. Also, it's quite clear that the ND athletic department wanted him to continuing lying until after the championship game so it wouldn't serve as a distraction.(which was obviously the correct choice) I think it sad that many of you take more interest in some teenager lying to the public than you do your own congressional members, who are lying to you (through press and to your face) on a daily basis. Like I said, priorities. |
