The “both sides” argument is more BS. There’s only one answer here that makes sense, get vaccinated and end this thing. It would/should have been over by now. Stop making this a political football.
That is simply useless parroting. Masks were going to end it. Lockouts were going to end it. Travel bans were going to end it. This thing has a course to run, and how long it takes is independent of the curves and charts we have seen from day 1. Remember when it started - flatten the curve, what a joke.

Australia has a 15% vaccination rate.
Germany has a 52% Vax rate
The US has a 50% Vax rate
France has a 48% Vax rate

Canada has a 59% Vax rate

Here are 2 graphs:
world deathrate from beginning til now
and
us death rate from beginning til now

The political catch phrases and jargon are just that jargon to stir up anxiety and fear in the masses one way or the other. We should be better than that.

Re: Coronavirus (sports edition) thread

I learned today there are at least 3 covid lists.

1 - Unvaccinated, test negative but came in close contact. 5 days away if you dont test positive. That is Payne.

2 - Unvaccinated and test positive. 10 days away if you test positive for covid. Contact tracing begins.

3 - Vaccinated and test positive. Stay away while contact tracing is done. Must have negative test 24 hours apart then can rejopin team.

https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-covid-19-outbreaks-unvaccinated-players-forfeit-cancelled-game

I am guessing vaccinated players can be in close contact with someone who tests positive and not be put on a list as long as they test negative.
That's laughable. You actually have that statement completely backwards.

Those pushing it are doctors, nurses, teachers, parents who want their kids to go back to school, and people like me who work in hospitals and have seen what happens. And the CDC, comprised of healthcare providers, is doing its job to care for public health.

What's interesting is the rejection of the vaccine doesn't divide along party lines. It divides along educated vs uneducated lines. North Philadelphia's poorest zip codes, where I work, are 35% vaccinated. Arkansas, 35% vaccinated. One votes entirely Democrat, the other votes entirely Republican. But what they have in common? Low levels of education, and inability to accept empirical information when presented, either due to lack of adequate intelligence to decipher its meaning, or due to willful ignorance.

The funny thing about this comment is I was going to say the exact same thing about your 'only 1 side comment' and chose not to because it would not enhance anything.

Sorry if 6 graphs showing the deaths over time in relation to the 5 countries vax rates I mentioned in the text is indecipherable to you - though I am as positive it wasn't really indecipherable, or spamming, as I am that you would be never bogged down by 6 graphs given the work in statistical analysis and cap number sheets you have done on this site alone.

To be clear, my point in showing the graphs, was to show that regardless of country policy, or vax rate, this virus has a course to run.

A side point is that the NFL setting different standards for vax vs unvax'd will have 0 effect on the course of the virus. They do it for political purposes, and more importantly, they do it to give the general public an enhanced feeling of security so that they can fill up the stadiums for revenue purposes.

But you're missing oodles of context CRed, and it's causing you to misinterpret the graphs. Three very important things you're missing:

1) You need to overlay the dates on which various measures were put into place. Take the US graph, and draw a vertical line on the date when our social distancing measures were instituted. And draw another vertical line on the dates when the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were approved for emergency use authorization. The context you're missing is what the numbers would have been if no social distancing or masking measures were put in place, and what they would have been more recently if the vaccines weren't rolled out.

2) Trying to trend total COVID cases and expecting a meaningful visual trend to emerge is a fool's errand. We weren't testing for the illness consistently in the early going.

3) If you think coronaviruses need to run a course, as if they have a lifecycle, shows you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how viruses like these replicate themselves. The flu does not run its course, the flu follows this same peak and valley pattern and comes back every year, hence we are vaccinated every year. The common cold, another coronavirus, does the same thing, with more frequent peaks and valleys throughout the year, but peaking highest in colder weather when everyone spends more time indoors.
This coronavirus is no different and will not peter out on its own. It is well understood throughout the scientific community that it is here to stay and will require annual vaccination just like the flu does. Maybe you choose not to get the annual flu shot, after all it doesn't represent the same grave threat to life that COVID does. But it's here to stay like the cold and the flu. You'll need a booster every year, or you'll face this threat every winter in particular.

And before you go in on me about Australia, they've had closed borders since the pandemic began. So overlay that line on your little chart, too.

I won't go into the whole back and forth with you Schneed, not because we couldn't but because it is as fruitless as every debate in the debating with your enemy forum. Don't really care much if I've "lost all credibility" either because all those points you raised, and each one is valid on its face, just muddy the factual waters in relationship to the NFL players and their Vax status relative to the course of this virus.

The bottomline is the nfl is a workplace and commercial enterprise. They have set up specific rules that allow for personal choice regardless if they are "dumbs" to you, punch, or me. The players through their union agreed to these rules, and players are abiding by them whether they Vax or not. That is the point of this sports thread. Any other stuff can go in the parking lot forum or debating with the enemy forum.

Fair enough then, back to the football side of it...

Teams with a higher percentage of unvaccinated players have a higher chance of forfeiting games. Nobody's going to argue with that unless they just don't understand anything about viruses or vaccines.

Bully for us. Best team we've had in years, it would be truly Redskinesque to finish 9-8 with two forfeits.

This is precisely the bigoted, judgmental attitude that is making this debate so hateful.

Completely discounting people's actual, legitimate health concerns and pushing an untested, unapproved injection on them against their better judgement. Not wanting this experimental injection doesn't make someone an "anti-vaxxer", that's just blanketing and generalizing.

Many doctors are advising against it and actually making it a case-by-case basis. To do otherwise and universally inject everyone is just moronic and goes against the oath doctors take.

Do you even realize there are currently more people dying after and or/from the vaccines than from the virus itself?

.05% are dying after being vaccinated.

.03% are dying from the virus.

The leaguewide vaccination rate of almost 90% (as of Friday) exceeds that of the reported United States numbers by almost 20%.

WFT (as of Friday) was right there with the national average of around 70%, and likely surpassed it on Sunday when guys like AGG decided to get the vaccine after being provided with more information about it.

That's good perspective. At the same time, the typical US citizen doesn't play on a football team who could have to forfeit games, causing every player to lose game checks.

If everyone in your neighborhood would lose 1/17th of their income if there was an outbreak in your neighborhood, you'd be more likely to get vaccinated too. That's why I can't understand why we're not at 90-95 percent. Hopefully getting there soon.

Yop, exactly my point all the way. The medical part of it I have little interest in, and I don't think it should be forced on anyone...
But as a fan of this team I wish we're not going to lose game because of a bloody shot billions of people got.
