Re: Democratic National Convention 2012

Bottom line about Romney's tax plan is that he's lying and the numbers dont' add up. He can't keep all the promises that he says in his tax plan and it work out.

PolitiFact | Mitt Romney's plan would cut taxes for millionaires while raising them for the middle class, says Martin O'Malley
The Tax Policy Center had to choose on its own what exemptions and deductions to get rid of, but the analysts tried to select the ones that most conformed to the principles Romney has outlined. (The Tax Policy Center refers to them as "tax preferences.")

Still, the math didn’t work. If the tax plan is to generate the same amount of revenue and offer across-the-board tax cuts, some exemptions for the middle class would go away. "As a result, a revenue-neutral reform within these constraints would cut taxes at the high-end while raising them in the middle and perhaps bottom," wrote Donald Marron, the center’s director, in a blog post about the study.

But Romney’s tax plan is vague and doesn’t appear to be able to keep all its promises. Romney has said he wants to eliminate deductions while cutting tax rates for everyone; bring in the same amount of revenue for the government; keep a higher burden on the wealthy; and keep low rates on savings and investments. A credible, independent analysis shows these goals are in tension with each other and don’t add up. The Romney campaign has repeatedly declined to offer more specifics.
Doesn't take a genius to realize his tax plan is full of shit. Pretty much like he is as a candidate.
Back to the DNC. Let's talk about that Clinton speech last night. He absolutely wrecked the GOP with that 48 minute speech. I heard somebody comment that the only thing the right wing media were complaining about was its length, and went on to say that if that's the only thing they could find to complain about then he obviously was doing something right. I watched it today at work and wanted to go out and vote for Clinton immediately. I'm still in awe of that speech.

Republicans had Clint. Democrats have Clinton.

Advantage: Democrats

So your boss lets you post and watch 48 min videos from work?

Well if you look at Obamas record we have 5 trillion def. in 3 years. While Romney cut taxes and balance the budget in Mass. The left can not use Mitts record in Mass. against him so they ignore it.

John Kerry just pooped all over Romney's foreign policy experience, and what he would/will do.

This convention is nothing more than energizing the base, I will be surprised if there's any bump for the Ds after this debacle. Might even see Romney's advance get stronger.

Why does the DNC think that Romney and Ryan want to go back to some of Clinton's policies ..... Obama simply clowns Romney on all levels. Guy is a immaculate speaker and motivator.

Biden's speech was very emotional and very personal to him. You could see his eyes watering there when he was getting choked up at one point.

Wow. Yeah no. You make it sound as if all the dems did was blow hot air for 3 days and made no valid arguments or counter-arguments whatsoever. Like.. none. Zero. Why bother having a convention? Time to pack it in!

If anything, the numbers will stay the same, if not, make things a little closer.

Agreed. Dems are on the defensive, asking for patience instead of talking about accomplishments. Republicans are now in the same positon the Dems were in during the 2008 election talking about a failed presidency and telling the American people that they can get us out of this rut.
