So Charlie Whitehurst goes to the Seahawks to be their QB of the future in exchange for a 2011 3rd round pick and a swap of 2nd round picks in this year's draft. Pretty shocking to me.
Awesome. Wait till you guys see him play. You'll forget all about that Peyton Manning fellow. |
Re: 2010 NFL Free Agency Rumors and Reports (Week 2)
Pete Carroll is in love with Whitehurst, apparently.
I'm happy for your buddy, Dirtbag. |

Pretty shocking to me.
Shocking to me as well, but I like the move. The Broncos and Seahawks have done what the Redskins should have been doing, and hedged their bets at the quarterback position with players who have future value combined with their players that have present value (Orton/Hasselbeck/Campbell...although Hasselbeck may just have perceived value from prior successes, the kind that Campbell lacks). Now the Broncos and Seahawks can both get out of the first round without taking a quarterback, if they are so inclined.
The Redskins can too, but the Grossman signing seems to indicate other plans. Although, I'm not sure a move of any consequence is going to follow. If the day one starter is not Campbell, it's going to end up being someone not on the roster right now. And without reaching for a QB at No. 4, it's going to be somewhat unconventional. |

I would put Campbell/Grossman up against Orton/Quinn or Hasslebeck/Whitehurst to begin with, but for how long? |

I'm happy for your buddy, Dirtbag.
Ha ha thanks. People around Alpharetta are going to be very excited to see how he does for the Seahawks. First time though I'll get to see him play on a regular basis since he played for Clemson so I'm pretty interested in seeing how he does as well. It's still crazy though to imagine someone you played in high school with actually playing in the NFL, never mind as a QB. |

No link, but rumor has it that Joey Porter is close to signing with the Redskins.

4th and a conditional pick next year as high as a 3rd let us know what it was if it dies down or really heats up |
4th and a conditional pick next year as high as a 3rd
Not even that much anymore. And now with Seattle definitely not talking a QB in the first round, Buffalo can probably just take their chances that Clausen will fall to them. The only people in their way are probably the Redskins. |

at this point, i'd say Campbell has more value to us as a starter/reserve than any compensation we'd get for him.

Agreed, simply because the proposed compensation just isn't that compelling |

he said he had no link in the post. and considering some trolls at ES were talking about this around the same time as his post, I was wondering if he just pulled it from there. |

I am not that surprised by this. We couldn't get a second for JC last year and I don't think '09 really changed his value in any direction. I would much rather have JC on the roster than a 3rd or 4th round pick. |

If we could get a 3rd for JC, he'd have been traded already

That is what blows my mine how does a guy like Whitehurst get so much compensation but no one will give us a nickle for JC? I guess teams see JC as he is as good as he is going to be but whitehurst might be the real thing. |
