Last night I had a dream me and my lady were touring this beautiful home we just bought on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Somehow I end up in the neighbors lawn and she comes out looking evil and she siks her dog on me and this huge dog comes charging from the house and is running down this long yard at me. I just stand there all cool like and just as it jumps at me, I duck and it goes flying over this rail and down this huge cliff to its death.

In my dream I was like "holy shit brah, you just beasted in a dream brah, lets not wake up and kick some more shit". Then in my dream I had sex with my cousin, she came and sat on my lap and was all flirty and aggressive. Only I knew it was wrong in my dream and it felt weird.

I feel weird now, thinking about it. I need a shrink to work through this.

Anyway ...

I respect you Chief, but I believe the real numbers - not those that come from unverified internet sources - back up that the vaccine is safe and legitimate. Is it safe for literally everyone? No. But that's the case with every vaccine. Is it safe for the overwhelming majority of people? I believe so. How long are you willing to wait before you clear it of long term side effects?

I do too man.

I could be wrong, but I don't think we are actually that different in our thinking in the grand scheme of things with regard to this vaccine. I wish there weren't two sides, but there are; and it's deeper than just the FDA approval issue. I'm just not a fan of either side bashing the other. It's not productive in my opinion, and it makes things more divisive, which is exactly what we don't need anymore of right now.

With regard to how long I'm willing to wait before I clear it of long term side effects - I'm not waiting. I was vaccinated back in March/April. At first I didn't think I would get it as I didn't fall into one of the high-risk categories. But I kept coming back to the fact that I spent 22 years in the Army going wherever they wanted me to go, and being given all the necessary inoculations to get to all those fine places. So while I don't consider myself high-risk for this virus, after weighing my options, it didn't make much sense for me to sit it out.

I love how complicated people want to make this. It’s this simple:

- with Delta’s R value, if you’re unvaccinated you WILL get infected. Not maybe. Not possibly. WILL.

- understanding that, and I know plenty of dumb fucks out there have to get over the Superman complex first (well, it won’t happen to me…), but understanding that, it comes down to a simple choice. Do I like my survival odds better with the vaccine, or without it?

It’s that simple. If you’re still too dumb to get it, then we should probably just let the virus select you out of the gene pool.

I agree with this ! I gotta good friends who won’t get vaccinated and I hope they don’t catch this virus ..some of there arguments don’t make any sense. If you have any health issues and don’t get vaccinated you are truly gambling with your life .. but what about the vaccine side effects ??? Well what about the side effects from dying with covid …. take the Poke this shit is no joke !!

Yup. Numbers do not lie.

A lot of people are getting very sick and dying from covid.

Nobody is dying from the vaccine, three blood clots that may or may not be related with the JJ shot and seems to have been an extremely minor hiccup.

Almost all of the serious cases are the unvaccinated.

misinformed people are going to keep this virus alive until the delta variant mutates into something worse.

Fuck you. Get your shots. All our lives depend on each other doing the right thing.
Im sorry I Cant just say “I respect your decision not to “ , when it means this fucking virus is going to keep mutating and people are going to keep dying because of some fear that somehow something could be worse than dying?!? Like what in the fuck can that scary scary vaccine do to you that is worse than dying?!?!? Jesus Christ man up and get your fuckin shots.

"Fuck you". Now there's an intelligent take on it all. :pffff:

Unfortunately, this virus will keep mutating regardless, because that is what viruses do. The COVID vaccines will likely have to be changed regularly, just like the flu vaccines.

So we are back to its the flu? [emoji1750]

If this virus requires a yearly shot than again fuck you get it. You know why? Because the flu does not kill like covid does.
Right now though what the science and the doctors are telling us is that we can stop this thing by getting vaccinated- it will die. And you have no idea if it will keep coming back like the flu.

But if your solution is “this is the flu, and its not going anywhere so give up and live with it” well no wonder we are in this situation.

If everyone in America was vaccinated right now cases would be next to nothing, certainly deaths would be. But hey lets just learn to live with this many people dying because who wants to MAYBE get a shot once a year. [emoji35]

Mutations are a matter of probability, the longer the disease hangs around and the more people who have it the greater the chance of future mutations. That is why the "individual choice" to take the vaccine or wear the mask is one that effects everybody. The longer this goes on the increase chance that a new variant will spring up that will not be affected by the Vaccine, then every body is back to square one.

You clearly don't have much background in statistics. The more virus there is in the world, the more likely it is to mutate.

Let's put it this way, in which country are we more likely to see 1M or more cases of Down Syndrome:

1) India, with population of 1.36 billion
2) Singapore, with a population of 5.7 million

The fewer people that have the virus in the world, the less likely it is to mutate.

This. Im so sick of hearing it is my choice. Fuck that. Your choice not to take your medicine because of some youtube video or paranoia is affecting us all and putting us all in harms way.
Until there is actual evidence that this vaccine is killing people (and there never will be) stfu and stop being a bitch and go get your shot. I don’t really give a fuck how that sounds because it will never sound worse than “ill just live with this and put you all at risk of dying “

Not so. It is the unfettered spread of the virus that enables mutation into other variants. When that spread is limited, the chance of variation is limited. Had we been able to continue our aggressive vaccination rate there is a good chance that the variant would not have taken hold as it has. We only need to look at the statistics of who is seriously affected or dying from this scourge to know the answer.

So, while this virus is likely to continue indefinitely, it is not likely to be worse than the common flu, but controlled better since we know it’s exact makeup. That’s very different than what’s happening now, and the shame is that we have brought this unto ourselves through misinformation and ignorance of facts.

Punch, I feel like you are overreacting a bit on this one. He didn't say it was the flu, and it wasn't implied either. He said we might be facing a situation where it's similar to the flu in that we have to get a booster shot every year to kill the new variant. But he also didn't say he was opposed to that either. As far as certain people on this board go I don't think Chief is one of these extremists that will go to any length to minimize COVID's impact.

Remember when the warpath locker room used to be about x's and o's, not names and blames. The good old days when preseason talk focused on the rise and fall of players' odds for making the team - not the odds of a refused jab or of whether a logo is a go or no go.

No longer do we go to a preseason game hoping the 1st team gets a td on its first drive, now we just piss or be pissed on depending on if our mask and pants are on or off.

But come on Skins fans or wft fans or howling wolves fans, the season is nearly here and the JAGs will be off the team, and some jabs will go unjabbed.

Set aside the hysterical hysteria and put on the fanatic Fandom. This team is ready to rock and roll, unless we get named the Monuments in which case we all will have to grin and bear it.

Brother if you're not quoting scientific peer reviewed journals for your science information, you're going to the wrong sources.

"Articles" are not where you should be looking for scientific information.

The one piece you said that made any sense was that the introduction of vaccines can result in mutations of the virus. True - it's like whack-a-mole, beat one variant down with a vaccine, and another will emerge.

The part you're missing though is that variants will also emerge through random mutation, the chances for which increase as the number of infected rise.

I think you're just beyond help with this though. It's not because you're not intelligent enough to understand it, it's because you're too dumb to understand that there's a lot you don't know. Good luck to you, I hope you survive when you come across Delta.

Maybe you have me confused with someone else, because I have been pretty consistent with my message:

Get the vaccine if you want it. Listen to your doctor. Do your research. Evaluate your situation and make your own decision. Masks have been shown to be effective. Viruses mutate. You're not as smart as you think you are...

He said we might be facing a situation where it's similar to the flu in that we have to get a booster shot every year to kill the new variant. But he also didn't say he was opposed to that either. As far as certain people on this board go I don't think Chief is one of these extremists that will go to any length to minimize COVID's impact.
My initial comment about “back to its the flu” was dumb. Wasn’t trying to say that he thought this was the flu. I harkened back to the original misinformation and let it fly.
What I was trying to say was that even comparing the flu vaccine to the covid vaccine is silly because, again, we can live with the flu. Not so much with this virus. How many people get flu shots every year? Not 70 percent of the country’s population Ill tell you that. But we live with it. For the most part, the very most part. This vaccine is beyond necessary to stop this thing in its tracks. I dont know Chief obviously. Wasn’t talking directly at him when i said “fuck you get your shots”. Was talking to the world in general. This isn’t politics, or team names, or favorite movies we are discussing. This is life and fucking death. I won’t sit back and let people post misinformation. Sorry. Fact is that the vaccine is our only defense if we want to stop social distancing and wearing masks, etc, and we are running out of time. His statement about …well its gonna mutate so learn to live with it is fuckin garbage. Sorry. Get your shots. Do your part. There is no science whatsoever that backs up his “the vaccine isn’t right for everyone “
That is misinformation.
Oh yeah, maybe you should provide an example of all the misinformation I have been spreading.

Am I missing anything?
Get the vaccine if you want it? Sorry man that’s garbage. Nobody woke up 18 months ago like “man i really want a new vaccine “.

What you are saying is the same thing as telling people use your fire extinguishers if you want to, while the world is burning.

Unvaccinated people are killing us right now and allowing the virus to move from host to host and mutate, and if it gets bad enough there will be no vaccine. You are misinformed . I dont think you are evil. I dont think you are anything other than misinformed. Im sorry if i came across in any other way than concerned for the human race and our way of life. I just cant sit by and listen to you act like this is a “choice”. There is definitively a right and wrong here man. Do your part. Use your fire extinguisher. Put out the fire. I feel like princess leia when she pops out of r2d2 to tell luke he is our only hope. Lol.

For those on here who do not know the definition of misinformation, I'll leave this here for you.

Misinformation: false or inaccurate information, especially that which is deliberately intended to deceive; incorrect or misleading information.

Very relevant right now.

This is an accurate description of how I feel when two posters that I both respect start verbally sparring with each other.

Schneed, only thing I'm gonna say is I feel your efforts would be better used towards (in the interest of toning down the insults) people of sub-par intelligence that still think masks are ineffective and/or encroaching on personal freedom.

That's all I got to say about that.

For those on here getting confused about what anyone is trying to say, Ill leave this for you.
There is absolutely no science that says the vaccination is bad. There is all the science in the world that says it is safe and effective.
The only way to stop the virus from mutating into something even deadlier is to get your vaccine.

“Get the vaccine if you want it” and “this virus is going to mutate either way” is one part bad advice, and one part misinformation because it is false and inaccurate, the virus can only mutate if kept alive by the unvaccinated.
