Espy activated
The Redskins have placed Fauria on IR and signed Mike Espy to the active roster as of Saturday. He could see significant time with Moss and Patten unlikely to play.

Re: Espy activated
Wow. I thought it was just a joke when someone had mentioned it to me. He was fun to watch in the preseason, doubt we'll see much of him on the field though

Re: Espy activated
Fauria might have been the worst blocking TE ever. Seriously guys, old does not equal good at blocking.
It's good to see Espy get his chance. I see no reason why he can't come in and play at a high level, and help out this offense. |
Re: Espy activated
Jason Campbell seemed to enjoy throwing his way during the PreSeason.

Re: Espy activated
what about david patten?

Re: Espy activated
This was necessity, they are short as receiver with Moss out and Patten still hurting. I doubt we will see much of Espy in the game.

Re: Espy activated
It has just not been the Redskin's year. Even if they were 7-2, they would be in serious trouble with all of these injuries. Now, because they are out of the playoff hunt, these injuries don't bother me at all. It is just going to be a 3rd QTR Preseason game the rest of the way.

Re: Espy activated
Don't rule out minutes for Espy. In Week 12 of the 2000 season, a young firebrand named Jeff George was inserted after Johnson got injured. He benefited from another elevation to starter in gentle soul Albert Connell. They both played on the second unit in practice - they knew each other's (likely psychotic) tendencies. Five catches, 96 yards.
Campbell has been playing scout team with castoffs like... Mike Espy. He knows Espy better than anyone on the team. If he needs a security blanket, Espy is the guy. |

"Young firebrand"?? Wasn't George a 10-year vet by that point? |

Neither was Albert Connell a "gentle soul". What's your point? |
Re: Espy activated
i always liked him and am glad to see him back.maybe he'll surprise us all and have a record game.who knows?

Ah I missed the "gentle soul" part. I thought you were being an ignoramus. I kept saying to myself "who signed on as BrudLee" |
Re: Espy activated
interesting... when we signed fauria, i thought it was a good move... he's either been playing hurt or he just forgot how to play, cause i've seen nothing worthwhile out of him all year. small (small) loss.

Re: Espy activated
That Guy, I guess you were right about Kozolwoski. I was shocked that they put Fauria on IR. I wonder what the real reason was. I see no information about it. Nobody has elaborated on it. I still think we should have found a younger player, but at the same time, they obviously needed someone immediately. Has anyone heard what ever happened to Robert Johnson?

Re: Espy activated
Last I recall Johnson had signed with the Panthers I think
|
Re: Espy activated
i think johnson is still a street free agent... i think carolina picked him up for a week or two, but he may be back on our practice squad by the end of the week. he's still a project though, and not someone that can be trusted not to screw up immediately.

Re: Espy activated
He is shown as being a Redskin, on NFL.com. I wonder if that is a typo or he is already on our practice squad. He is a second year player, does that mean he is ineligible?
|
Re: Espy activated
1st and 2nd year players can be on PS... if he's 3rd year or higher he couldn't be. NFL.com is usually the most up to date (in free agency, they do full updates once a day... i believe they do that year round though), so it's possible. It won't really matter though, since the #4 TE is never going to get in a game.
