Madden Nfc East Ratings
http://sports.ign.com/articles/534/534185p1.html
havent looked yet. discuss.. |
NOT BAD. EA was pretty kind to us. even Rock gets a nice rating.
they have Ramsey right beneath Brunell, just waiting to be subbed in. Clinton Portis seems maybe a little underrated, but thats ok because they gave our defense some higher ratings than they probably deserve, especially along the defensive line. ST: 85 in both Madden and ESPN our TEs get absolutely no love. (they drop any pass). hopefully a star emerges from the TE pack this year. maybe Cooley? (69) |
damn, Rock's got an 86 rating! definitely didn't see that coming but then again last year he carried the load quite a bit in the last half of the season.
Cooley got a pretty good rating for a 3rd round pick at 69. I think Friedman should be atleast in the mid 70s but they got him at a 65? Hasselback made a big ass jump up from last year's ratings, lol. overall they seemed to have gotten them pretty spot on. |
Madden 2005 Player Ratings!
I was browsing the net, when I came across this site...
"IGN Sports has them all and we're going to unveil them one division at a time before the game ships on August 10th." Here is the link to the main page... http://sports.ign.com/articles/534/534185p1.html?fromint=1 And here's the link to the Redskins Ratings! http://sports.ign.com/madden05/redskins.html Some big ones off the bat... Sean Taylor - 85 OVR (90 spd, 76 catching - which is REALLY high for a safety, 81 tackle) Mark Brunell - 86 Patrick Ramsey - 83 Chris Cooley - 69 Sean Springs - 89 Fred Smoot - 87 Others... Arrington - 98 Portis - 95 Barrow - 90 M. Washington - 88 T. Jacobs - 74 (only) W. Harris - 78 (not bad) Coles - 91 Gardner - 85 Let's Discuss!! |
I was hoping Cartwright was rated as high or higher than Betts. Let's face it guys. Betts was drafted in the early rounds, but he hasn't been able to live up to his potential. I'll be using the jumbo package at will!

Taylors speed is good, but his catching is really good for a safety....a rookie safety at that. Thanks HTTR. Can wait to play come Aug 12th! |
yeah, last year hasslebeck was the absolute lowest rated player in the entire game at 37... he's jumped up 32 points... not too bad i'd say, especially for a 3rd QB ;)
lavar is a 98? wow, and barrow is a respectable 90... rock at 86 though??? wow.. seems a bit high, but i'll take it. lots of 90s... our OL and LBs look the best, we got 2 good RBs (portis and rock), 87 and 89 at starting corners... this lineup is 20x better than last year. |
Ade Jimoh is a 62!!!!
|
oh yeah, coles has a 99 in speed and 98 in acceleration, 95 agility... better than TO!
i can't pass up madden this year, this is about as good as i've seen the skins. portis is a 97/99/96 and he can catch well too, so even on 2 WR sets you still have 3 good WRs. gardner has decent (for a WR) run blocking too. |
these ratings are pretty generous, did you see the Oline? Samules Jansen and Thomas were all 91+ and a 86 for rock cartwright? that seemes excessive
|
OL has decent ratings too (despite a horrible horrible year under the steve), jacobs low, coles has a 99 in speed... rock is an 86 (too high, but no complaints), betts is 76.
tim goes from a 37 last year to a 69, great for a 3rd QB. |
maybe the generosity is cause gibbs and co. make everyone better ;)
they under rated the cards WRs a bit though, boldin is only an 89? sucks for them i guess. |
Reserve OT Kenyatta Jones is a 76! Wow, I'll have to take a good, hard look at this guy during camp. He seemed to move pretty good in the minicamps, but I want to see how he does with live hitting.
I agree that Friedman should definitely be higher than a 65. He's undersized and not terribly strong, but the guy is smart, uses very sound technique, and plays with a lot of heart and fire. He should only be a few points below Raymer in my opinion, maybe a 75-76. Otherwise, most of the ratings look about right. I was disappointed that ESPN failed to recognize the absence of the true FB position on Gibbs' depth chart. They have Rock at fullback, and you can't change him to a RB. Nor can you change a TE to a fullback, which is what I did in Madden '04 with Cooley (whom I created in last year's version) and the other guys who will play H-back. They really need to provide modifiable depth chart structures to accomodate special, unique positions like H-back. |
I still want to see the playbook.
|
I can't wait to run all my friends over with Portis!! I like the rating!!
|
wow, thats so awesome. I hope those are all accurate. Our team is going to be awesome in Madden. Some are al ittle generous but its what they expect they will do this year, 2k5s ratings suck, absolutly suck. Im starting to not like that game at all the more I play it, cant wait for my Madden!!!
|
HTTR, thank you so much for finding that. I look all the time to see if there is something posted somewhere. The Skins are going to be great in the game, McCants at a 79 for a third receiver. You can immediatly trade brunell and one of the safeties fo ran end. its going ot be awesome.
|
Dockery and McCants kinda got the shaft. We will just have to see when the first updates are out!!!
|
what makes you think they got the shaft, I thik both of those are extremely generous. Dockery was quite possibly the worst guard in the league last year, bar none. He was stepping on people, loosing game. He showed signs of not messing up towards the end of the year, but nothign great. To give him a ranking in the 70's isnt bad, they are assuming that bugel teaches him how to use that monsterous body of his.
And 79 for a third receiver is pretty good. McCants caught the ball in the redzone last year, and was clutch for us at times but he wasnt out there breaking tackles and out running people. you pretty much didnt get much out of him unless he could score. Im also glad Jacobs is ranked as a 74, thats pretty good considering he didnt plya at all. Wow, I forgot about thrash, hes ranked as an 81, so that means technically McCants is a 4th string receiver at a 79, with a fifth at a 74. Plus McCants and Jacobs can both go up in preseason. Acutally, im not sure how old McCants is. But I tell you guys that you should start Jacobs as your number 3 guy, and trade Thrash. Jacobs can go up for three preseasons still. Gardner can still go up for the first preseason. Between Thrash, mabye McCants, a safety and Brunell you should easily be able to pick up a good end. |
or you can play cheap and sign guys like Jason Guildon taht are going to be ranked in the 90's and are still free agents in the game, then trade them. But my friend and I dont do that type of stuff. We are good enough at the game that we need challenges. Its tempting to not trade any players and run with the actual roster, which I might to. But there is so much depth at some positions that you really dont need. Apparently madden fixed it so palyers dont drop like 14 just because they didnt start. Its hard to get backups a lot of stats in the old maddens.
|
man, look at those numbers for Rock. Hes liable to be the best full back in the game. In terms of running atleast. Not great blockign numbers but there no reason why you cant hand the ball to rock on 4th and 1 instead of portis. Rock even has an 86 broken tackle rating. awesome.
|
what is the deal with rock? 86 is absolutely out of this world ridiculous. craziness I say
|
its good to know no matter what happens in real life i can once again dominate madden with the skins at school...
|
what is the deal with rock? 86 is absolutely out of this world ridiculous. craziness I say
only way he is that high is becuase he did well as a halfback, so at fullback, which are normally slower and not as good of runner, he excells. Hes an excellent running fullback, but not a good blocker and his numbers do reflect that. |
"LaVar hits backs, Portis hits holes, and Brunell, if healthy, can hit the open receiver." the quote at the top

AW GUYS. i posted this, this morning. in the MADDEN FORUM... :tongue |
my bad, my bad. illdefined I just saw that it was in the Madden forum and its greatly appreciated that you found this.
Anyhow, im sure Matty or someone will merge teh two threads and move this to the madden forum before to long. |
Uh, guys I don't 'trade' players. Yes, I do dip into the franchise mode at times, but always go the 'fantasy draft' way. Bottom line? Gibbs has to be the reason why some players' ratings are higher than expected.
|
It's cool to hear all the ratings, thanks illdefined! The ratings seem so high that I may have to raise the difficulty level a notch. Finally, let me just say one more time, 'Rock Cartwright rated 86: mindboggling!!
|

well if you dotn do franchise mode of course you dont trade. Trading is a big part of franchise mode, becuase you are building dynastys, not just a one game team. You take a young guy over an old guy becuase he can go up more, and wotn retire anytime soon. The fantasy draft is fun, and essentially puts the whole league on par with each other, but I dotn do that until ive already done a few franchises with real teams. Do you just do head to head games? I dotn ever play head to head, its a waste of time for me because if im going ot play a game i want it to count towards my season. |

what level do you usually play at? I always play on all Madden, ill probably start madden 05 at all pro just to get used to the new things about the game. Im so glad Madden did so many things to make franchise mode better this year, because playing the game got kinda old. Recently, until 2k5 came out, all I did was simulated franchises because it was more gratifying. I knew if i played on all madden i wouldnt lose and win the super bowl. But with a simulated franchise you dont know anything. you have to have depth incase of injuries, becuase you dotn control anything. You hvae to set a playbook that fits the talent on your team. When you win superbowls on simulated franchises you are really proud. Of course Madden this year also made it special to get to teh superbowl, and added special animations and whatnot for the'big game'. So thatll be neat to. |
I just bought NFL2K5 for XBox. The skins are not that good, but Sean Taylor is unreal. I threw at him 3 times, and he made 3 picks in franchise mode.
|
I usually play all-pro because it helps me break just about every record the league has to offer. I'm not that good at using players on defense either, guess I gotta practice that a little more.
The thing that I really suck at on all-madden: kickoffs and punts |
its hard as hell to kick on all madden. Thats the one thing my friend and I never got down that well. I punt on average 3 times a season, so I wasnt to worried about punting. But when its so hard to kick field goals you definitly tihnk about going for it on 4th down a lot more. If we make a field goal over 40 yards on all madden its very excitng, probably more so then going to the playoffs, lol.
|
I like the ratings. I think Cartwright is well rated because he can play HB as well as FB. It's his blocking stats that will be important, so I'll jdge when I get to see a proper roster breakdown.
Whenever that is - Madden is not likely to hit our shores until September! Why they can't ship to Europe at the same time as the US release, I'll never know. :( |
that sucks man, you coudl always order it form here and have it shipped up.
|
suprnova.org bit torrent fun until your copies arrive...
|
whats the deal with taht website, youve giving that link a coupel other times before. Is it just a message board.
|
no, its a listing of links to torrent files, which is a method of distributing data... it works kinda like kazaa or overnet in some ways, but is generally better, as you can grab the files from 200 different people at once.
downloading games for free and using them for more than 24 hours is illegal, but if you're buying a legit copy and just want it sooner, they'll have it before the stores will (usually). If you do use torrents, get the azureus client from sourceforge.net, as its the one that i'm sure is completely clean of scum. |
No worries guys. I work in IT so getting an illegit copy isn't a problem, and I may just do that until the original arrives. I will buy it though, as it's worth it for the play I get out of it. I always pay for quality games, even if I get dodgy copies first.
It still bugs me that EA take almost a full month to distribute it over here. Not to mention that I'd consider a PS2 if a) I could get NCAA over here and b) you could extract the draft classes to Madden. Amazing how they don't recognise how cross market/platform fertilisation works.... :| |
