Green Bay - Packer fans
Me and my best friend in DC flew out to the game this past weekend for this game and I'll have to say, those fans there are the nicest of probably anywhere! There were some other friends that had family there who met us early there to tailgate and all these packer fans were coming up to us and saying hi and thanked us for coming there!!! But the weirdest thing was, these 8 Packer guys who were playing music (like a small pep band) were stopping and playing for everyone for tips, and they actually played HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!! FOR US!!!! WHO ELSE WOULD DO THAT????? We were blown away!
Not to mention how small that town is....population of like 96,000....stadium holds like 73,000...so it's almost a ticket a person! Also, our tickets were GIVEN to us by a friend of mine who's a season ticket holder there and die-hard Packer fan. Anyway just thought I'd share that. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
+1 for Packers fans.
|
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
I second that. I went on their site last week really looking for someone to piss me off. But I must say they are some classy mofos. And they love their Packers too!!
|
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
On the other side of the spectrum, There were 52 Arrest at qualcomm stadium this last sunday. Charger fans and raider fans don't mix.
|
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Thats how it should be. I never get this I hate so and so fans or the whole team for that matter. I'm as competitive as they come and hate loosing but its still a game when all is said and done.
|
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
If it could ONLY be that nice in all stadiums. That's aweful nice, you don't hear many stories like that! Would have been extra SWEET to pull out a win.....
THIS WEEK! |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
thats because its all about the fans there.... good luck doing that here

Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Let's be honest, most of us have been to FedEx... OUR fans aren't even that classy. Some of the stuff I've heard (drunk) grown men shout in the men's room when there's little kids in there with their dads, it makes me cringe.
I love to get rowdy at the game as much as the next guy but I don't think you can really take the kids until they're teenagers... |

Yeah, tell that to Smoot. Fred Smoot's Lambeau Leap!!! |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Packers fans are pretty laid back....but if you want a fun game to go to...Oakland and SD. WOW....that was nuts.

Good to hear about Lambeau...I've always wanted to go see a game there, maybe I'll make the trek one of these years if thats how it is... PS: Don't go to Buffalo. That place is awful. |

Me too, but I got nadda, nothing, zippo, zilch. Most all posters were realists and respectful of the 'Skins. You gotta love the fact that they are so close to their team, kinda like Redskin fans. Too bad their persona couldn't rub off on the Philly fans, now that would be impressive. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
If there were no Redskins, I can honestly say I would be a Packers fan. Love their history, love the uniforms, love Favre, the Pack are my distant 2nd fav team.

Yeah, they "rained" on his parade for sure. But, what would you expect? he just picked off the beloved Brett Fahv...rah and took it to the house. Not sure any other fan would have been very hospitable after that play. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
It's really hard to hate a team like that or fans like that. I actually get tired of hearing that the Cowboys are america's team not b/c i am a skins fan but rather i think that moniker belongs to green bay. Green Bay/Vince Lombardi/Lambeau is pro football PERIOD

I think I'd lean toward the Bears for some reason. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Chris Cooley on EITM said that they were the nicest opposing fans he's ever met. Said that when he was going in at the half they were complimenting him on his play. Nice half! Good catch!, etc. Definitely classy.
I heard a while back that there was a long OT game on MNF in GB -- the next day, over 60% of Green Bay called in sick to work. |

Great point. I don't think any franchise symbolizes the game of pro football better. |

Anyone who would wear cheese on their head is good in my book. :)

Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
I lived in san diego for awhile and the week before the games in SD local radio stations would have callers from both teams talking about where their gang was going to be at, pretty funny to hear on the radio but hell no would i go to one of those games. Chargers front office now does not sell individual tickets for the raiders game, you can only get them if you buy them as part of a 4 game package to discourage raiders fans from coming down.
I was at a skins-steelers game in the 'burgh and got all types of physical harrasment. At halftime this really really old crumply looking guy walked by me, stopped, looked me up and down then spat at my feet. man i laughed my ass off. wasnt so funny when roves of shirtless drunk teenagers where running around trying to find skins fans to beat on thoo. i got into a fight in the stadium with this drunk guy, his buddy apologized. no blood, no foul. I dont mind the drunk aggression at games (i dumped beer on 2 giants fans this year at the end of the game) as long as they find other people who are equally drunk, stupid and looking for a fight. I hate when an aggressive guy picks a fight with someone who is just trying to enjoy the game. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Really? I went to a game in Pittsburgh, and I got some friendly rousing -- as was to be expected. But overall it was okay, the fans seemed a bit... slow. They didn't seem to understand a lot of rules. They thought it was funny that I wanted the MVP of our team to be Tom Tupa.

I hate when an aggressive guy picks a fight with someone who is just trying to enjoy the game.
I certainly do mind it and take great exception to it. I've seen it many times at various sporting events and it just ruins the overall experience. I've had our two boys in tow on several occasions to football, baseball, hockey games, and races (yeah, I know), etc. only to have some drunken fool make an idiot out of himself (or herself). It's gotten to the point where I seldom take the kids anymore and opt for the comfort, and safety, of our own home. Drunken aggression is just another sign of someone being extremely immature and insecure. Hopefully the Packer fan mentality will grow and spread over time and fans will be less tolerant of aggresive behavior. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Daseal - idk how old you were at the time but i was 21 and when your that age you have to deal with all the other teams 18-23 year old fans who can get pretty hostile . . . since ive gotten older (29 now) that younger agressive age group tends to not focus their anger on me as much
firstdown - well when the other teams fans are drunk and standing up and cursing im the guy that asks them to tone it down so youre welcome buddy! |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
I think most fans around the country are quite polite and decent. We just get to see the fans from N.Y., Philly, and Dallas so often, we assume that most team's fans are complete douchebags like they are. The Ravens fans aren't terribly helpful in this regard either.

What if they came after you because of this and my child was injured as people fell over. |
Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
Living in NC I go to Panther's games often (the tix are easy to get but I only go when Skins have a Bye or playing at a different time, of course I go to every Skins game). The upper bowl usually has more visiting fans than Panther fans and the Packers fans on Monday night were some of the best fans I've ever met. Bucs fans are also really great. I've never seen a fight there. I've only had two bad experiences there. The first was in a PreSeason game a few years ago when the Skins came to town (during Spurrier's reign) when some teenagers were throwing pennies from the top row. The second was regular season when Skins came and Stephen Davis was playing for the Panthers. When he fumbled my 8-month pregnant wife cheered and this drunk woman told her that she'd find her in the parking lot and run her over. Both times security remedied the situation.

Re: Green Bay - Packer fans
I was in London once and my buddy took me to a Soccer game.
Aresenal vs tottenham (I think it was tottenham). Of curse, they have chain link fences in the stands to separate the visitors from the home fans. After the game, the Aresenal fans went in droves ('gangs') to find the buses of the visitors. They were picking up anything in the streets they could find (boards, rocks, etc). That's when I got the F**k out of there. It aint sport, its a crime. J-Dawg |

When I moved from D.C. to Madison, WI a few years ago, I thought "this is temporary, I'm going back to D.C. as soon as I can." Now, I can't imagine leaving the place. The people here are, for the most part, pretty incredible. I know a lot of people think that the Midwest "is a place I fly over while traveling between the coasts," but there are some really great places and people in between D.C. and L.A.

I hear that's a pretty big pet peeve in the rest of the country. Nobody in Chicago can drive anyway. |
