Jeff George

An article about how Jeff George is sitting at home waiting to be picked.

Also at the bottom of the article it talks about why Taylor didnt start. And a little about Pierce

Negative Jeff. You're just about done.

EEich 09-18-2004 12:25 AM

I betcha he could still throw it if his mouth and his attitude didn't get in the way.
Too much of a risk that he would revert to old form.

That Guy 09-18-2004 12:31 AM

the problem is that he's not a leader, just a good arm... a good arm is nice, but its the smaller half of what being a quarterback is about...

Winskins 09-18-2004 12:52 AM

Just like in Any Given Sunday when no one would block or play for Willie Beamen. He didn't have all of the essential qualities of being a quarterback (at the time). It took the seasoned veteran to come in there, the one who related to the people like not many people can (completing the job of the great quarterback), and motivate the players around him. The players were willing to sacrifice their bodies for him and that's what I think makes the absolute difference during gametime.
Bottomline: Jeff has the arm, but no man is willing to sacrifice his body for the sake of an arm.

The guy's ego was just to big. Even the Skins had to toss him for not listening to the coaches. Who would want that headache?

VTSkins897 09-18-2004 10:02 AM

jeff george waiting for a call.. now that's a laugh.. heath shuler can back him up

redwagonskins 09-18-2004 11:30 AM

I have never read an article or even heard of one that tries to defend J. George. I have definitely lost some respect for Pasquerelli... Who is he trying to kid? How many teams did George play for...Indy, Atlanta, Oakland, Minnnesota, Washington, and Seattle.

I think he's a well known commodity and his legacy doesn't come down to one or even two incidents.

And to think he's still asking, "Why me??"

That was a waste of time reading that passage that I will never get back!!!

MTK 09-18-2004 12:03 PM

Wasn't it George that said the QB doesn't need to be a leader?

That could be one of the reasons he's sitting home.

I think teams around the league finally wised up with him and realized he's just a big tease.

WEll I am a Jeff George Original hater. I am a bonified Purdue Boilmaker fan. And guess who the 1st team he used his ego on. PURDUE. I hated him before on his 1st of 3 teams in college. This guy is talent waiting to happen. :vomit-smi

Considering our back ups have 0 games of experience starting in the NFL I'd take him as a back up in a heart beat

Ive seen what he can do with a good coaching staff/OC and surrounding talent

MTK 09-18-2004 07:44 PM

Parcells would eat George for lunch

no pun intended ;)

That Guy 09-18-2004 07:50 PM

he's bad in the locker room, he's bad with the coaching staff... parcells would eat him and his children within a month.

btw, i heard that dallas seem to think that E. George was a mistake and are trying to trade him... what has the local media said about it down there? (i watched him in the preseason and game 1, and he looked about done)

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-18-2004 08:01 PM

i'd take heath shuler over jeff george any day.shuler at least tried, george did'nt care.

The thing that gets me is how Lenny P constantly refers to himself as "we" (I guess he eats enough to refer to himself in the plural).

Seriously, does anyone remember the game George had with us where he just gave up? I don't remember who we were playing, but George got sacked a couple times and the camera focused in on his eyes as he was calling a play. All you saw was fear and, at the snap, he just went down as fast as he could. Afterwards the players were saying all the right things but, you could tell, they knew he gave up on them.

He is a f***ing loser and Pastabelly is a dumbsh**.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-19-2004 07:15 AM

i remember george's last game as a redskin against the packers when he quit.he got cut the next day by schottenheimer.he's a real tool and a proven non team player,i do'nt look for him to be called by any team in the league any time soon.

SKINSnCANES 09-19-2004 11:18 AM

i dont know, give him a few years and i could see him in a raiders jersey as a backup.

sportscurmudgeon 09-21-2004 10:12 PM

Here is the scenario that speaks volumes about Jeff George.

He was with the Vikes the year after Randall Cunningham had his fantasy year and George was the back-up. Cunningham got hurt in about the 3rd or 4th game of the year and was out. Jeff George stepped in and led the team to the playoffs and saved Denny Green's butt - which was on the line in Minny then because of some "sexual harassment allegations".

So after George saves Green's butt, what does Green do in the off-season? He releases Jeff George.

Now, maybe Dennis Green isn't the most wonderful human being in the world and maybe he is a preening, pretentious schmoe, but he just cut the guy who saved his bacon and never looked back. So tell me ... just how difficult must it be to have Jeff George in your locker rooom when you want to get rid of him after he leads you to the playoffs???
